I liked the part where you got the stars really fast. Yes vote for an outstanding run.

How about The Road to Reality? Also, if you like Briane Greene and the Fabric of the Cosmos, you'd probably like The Elegant Universe. If you like A Brief History of Time, Black Holes and Time Warps: Einstein's Outrageous Legacy by Thorne is often considered a kind of companion classic.

Ah, that brings back memories. Anyway, voted yes for a solid improvement. At this level of optimization, every frame means something.

I wanted to vote no because you skipped the between-level menus so fast that I couldn't read the Intel and follow the story. But then I voted yes because this is a work of art.

If you were to run Cradle twice, you could always throw the cheats you have unlocked along the way to make it different.
I think this and Swordless Link's idea would work well together. If you must show the credits for the sake of completeness, do it after finishing all the levels and make the second Cradle run nice and entertaining, to give it a dual purpose.

What, in your opinion, is an improvement worthy of being published? Or is the "previous 12[th] or so version" (which was Spezzafer's 16 star TAS) the limit, and anything shorter than 16 minutes is an unnoticeable difference and therefore unworthy of publication?

Voting yes because I rather enjoyed the DDD stair skip.

There's also the luck manipulation that goes into it people.
I don't think there's much, if any, luck manipulation in SM64, so that wouldn't be a big issue.
Try TASing the BoB 100 coins star and hexing it into another m64. You might think different.

I've never seen the bolded BLJs before (then again, I don't keep up with the new developments anymore), but if they worked, then that route would be all right.

Doesn't work. You forgot about MIPS 2.

Em, I think it was me and RobZ who first found that side blj'ing is faster for both JRB AND BOB, which was some months ago. Anyway, not trying to steal anyone's credit here, just saying
Without being cocky or anything, uh, this. Exactly. Anyway, yes, I've given up the run (long story), but I'd be glad to donate the final 12 star WIP (done by me and Brian), which has JRB and WF pretty much complete, to your collaborative effort. JRB is a bitch to do, and every star we did in WF is the fastest as of now. Up to you if you want it.

From the few hours I've had playing with this game, it looked great to me. And wow, DS TASing? I call Brain Age!* *No I don't.

That's a shame :( Apparently all the interest nowadays is towards other games, you know it's a bad day when the thread for Ocarina of Time gets more replies than this one :\
Didn't it have that for like...three years?

Also consider the fact that you have to actually open the courtyard door too, which takes tons of time. Or you could just test it, like you said. That could work too.

Just don't forget not only how long it takes to get in and out of the level each time, but also how long it takes to get into the courtyard from the Lobby, and then from the courtyard to the basement door. I haven't calculated it or anything, but just keep it in mind.

you talk to the pink bomb omb while doing the coins ammased in a maze star here are the differences between my route and Mr Robert Z's
My route
time	star
14	The Manta Ray's Reward
16	Breathtaking View From Bridge

MrRobertZ's route
time	star
47	Big Bobomb on the Summit
41	Frosty Slide for 8 Red Coins
Actually one of the reasons I kind of stopped doing the run myself was because I realized myself that the Bobomb star was slower...due to my inexperience/stupidity at the time, taking that out meant redoing the Chomp star, which was based on bobomb positioning luck, which tied into the penguin star in CCM which I'd already done, which also depended on luck...etc. To summarize, I figured the bobomb star was slower myself, and due to (mostly) laziness, it led me to stop doing the run.

Isn't that a tad presumptuous? Just saying. Anyway, yeah, I came up with that old route about...a year and a half ago, so it's good that you've updated it with the latest times before Kyman got too far.

I think it's more entertaining to publish a TAS where you can track what's going on. It'd also be a lot less work to make!
Except for the part where it's impossible to go on, and therefore not be able to finish the run like Wyster. :P
