He may exist, and he may not. Whether he does or doesn't, the concept of him and the ideas behind the concept should be used to better ourselves.
This is my thought.
Unfortunately it's impossible...BLJing on the invisible wall behind the trap door can't really get the extreme speed buildup that you normally get. The speed probably increases arithmetically rather than geometrically like most BLJs....so you'd have to wait a really REALLY long time to get enough speed to
And of course it still wouldn't work, because to get out the opposite door, you need to stop and turn Mario to aim in in the right direction. Since this is right on top of the trapdoor, Mario would promptly dump into B1.
Would there be any way to get in a rewind (so to speak) function into the next Mupen? I know it would have to work completely differently from the the fastforward function....maybe something like loading saved states that are automatically saved every 15 seconds or something from the memory in an automatic read only mode?
I'm not sure if that's plausible or not, but it would be hella useful.
Ok... so what makes the 30-star stairs so special that the same method can't be used on the side staircases (JRB, BoB)?
I think it's a different kind of edge; the kind of stairs probably make a difference on the physics of the edge itself.

Also, would it be possible to activate a BLJ inside the Bowser1 hallway? the floor opens and closes depending on how far into it you are and stuff, I dunno. That would prevent us from having to go back in to exit course.
There's no BLJ in there except behind the trapdoor (after BLJing on it for about 25 seconds, you can get behind the invisible wall), which doesn't do very much.
either of the side staircases (shown in the 120 star run to work, though with very limited speed)
Not nearly enough speed; there's just barely enough to get through the JRB door. Even if you could BLJ fast enough, the angle would be so bad that you would kill off most of your speed before you hit the B1 door (especially after going up the steps, that's one reason the HMC BLJ doesn't work very well for a 0 star run).

possible banister straddling
Been tried; doesn't really do anything.

messing around with toad
The area behind toad can be gotten into with the Lobby Glitch, but there's not much to do back there. IIRC, no invisible walls and not enough room to BLJ anyway.

messing around with toad, pillars with the coins straddling. Probably all dumb ideas anyway :)
I don't think that would really do anything...anyway, they're not dumb ideas; people have considered and tested them. They just don't work that well. ;)
D. Bq.:
1. Are mood-specific avatars limited to .png files? I looked through the avatar thread, but couldn't find an answer.
2. How many (if any) TASes do you host on the site, unbeknownst to the authors?
3. If you remember, did my very long location stretch the pages where I posted?
Apologies for more boring, creativity-lacking questions.
I wonder why Mario would call him king, it's not like he ever pledged allegiance to him.
Can anyone tell me why the 2nd Bowser door can be bypassed with a BLJ from the mini staircase, but the 1st Bowser door cannot use the main lobby staircase for the same purpose?
BLJing on the 30 star stairs leads Mario very straight, allowing him to get through the door without losing much speed. Also, Mario doesn't usually touch the ground (maybe once) before he's through the door.
On the Lobby stairs, you wouldn't have a straight path; you'd have to go to the left towards the door, and running backwards towards it would cancel out too much speed.
You know you TAS SM64 too much when you forget the purpose of the Lakitu Skip.
You know you associate with SM64 players too much when you assume that everyone knows exactly what that meant.
Almost at the end of my list of dumb questions. :P

1. As unlikely as it may be, say some game company or association concludes that some aspects of this site are illegal. They determine that, say, (theoretically; I'm sure in real life you've got it all covered) because of the screenshots that NesVideoAgent takes of ROMs of games that you don't actually own, you are illegally downloading and distributing ROMs (again, I know this is ridiculously unlikely; bear with me), and they threaten to sue you if you don't completely take the site down (or at least everything but the forums). Considering legal fees and other matters, would you go to court or take other kinds of legal action for the sake of the site?
2. I believe somewhere, sometime you said that eventually you might leave the site and leave someone else in charge. If that were the case, would you still pay server costs and maintain the hardware behind the site? If you didn't want to continue to cover the costs and the "inheritor" refused to, would you try to find someone else?
I feel that whatever question I ask next, it'll look pretty stupid...but that's for you to decide. ;)
D. Bq.:
What countries have you visited in your life? If more than one, which did you find the most appealing? Finally, if you could visit some place on Earth you haven't been, where would it be?
It is possible to BLJ on those elevators, but it's probably pretty unefficient. First you have to get in a good position to BLJ, then you have to wait until the platform you're on is rising. But, if you BLJ anywhere above the white platform area before the warp, the wind throws you back. You would have to BLJ in certain straight line and angle so that Mario flies right over the very edge of the platform, where be LJ normally. The timing and angle would be absolutely perfect, and then, because of the angle needed to avoid the wind, you couldn't land very close to the warp (let alone close beside it). Finally, you'd have to recover from the BLJ and probably do a sideflip on the steps surrounding the warp and then the traditional jump+dive into the warp.
We'll give it a shot, though.
