FUCKFUCKFUCK! Oh well, that's still the first real BLJ that's been found in the basement, so great job anyway. I wonder if there are any other "earthquake glitch" style BLJ places around.
I'm not 100% sure, but I think SM64 players have been trying to get in there for a while, the theory being (I think) that if we can get into the loading point, we'd have a "Snowy Room of Death".
Agreed.
This should absolutely obsolete a 16 star run...this may be a tad hypocritical (in my case), but I don't really see the point in having a 16 star run category.
Anyway, my input.
That's been known for quite a while....it doesn't do much, and it's not possible to get great speeds on it. Much better speeds are possible on top of the castle, though it would be impossible to get into the basement from there.
The little dark green hill with the red coin on it?
The C^ glitch kind of makes you go completely straight, and since the coins turn pretty quickly, it wouldn't have saved much time; it might've even raised the finishing time.
TotWC needs 10 stars to get into, and BoB needs the Wing Cap.
See above.
We don't need PSS2; we've already been in there to collect all the coins, and we don't need the other star. TotWC is next, and then BoB, which will complete the Lobby.
On TASVideos.org, you are not allowed to ask for ROMs on the forums.
Heh heh, hi-larious!
Okay, more seriously (kinda....), in Canada, you can't set fire to the wooden leg of a wooden-legged man.
I think talking about stairs in the basement is pretty useless, since
-The stairs from the BRoD are facing the wrong direction, too high, and, as far as I know, impossible to BLJ on
-The small set of stairs near the 30 star door has been proven to be un-BLJ-able
-The two sets of stairs in the HMC room seem to have the same model as those near the 30 star door
Our best bet is still to find a wedge or invisible wall to BLJ on, I think.
Even if we could enter doors (and GS cheats were allowed), it wouldn't do very much except lead us to the same step we're at with the Lobby Glitch, right?
Once again, what we need is a BLJ in the basement...with that, we Lobby Glitch into B1, get into the basement, use the basement BLJ to get past the 30 star door and behind the DDD painting (hopefully), and into B2. From B2, go on as normal...amirite?
EDIT: I was thinking about some of the physics in the game, and I was wondering if we could use the slope behind the blue glass in any way; for example, slide down it (maybe even try the C^ glitch), and use the speed to do something like dive and bash Mario's head against a nearby pillar and manipulate Mario so that he does his "oomph" fall at the side of the door....maybe making him go through.
Something like that, anyway.
Do to poor planning (on my part, it won't happen again), we accidentally got three stars that we pretty much have absolutely no use for.
Anyway, we've redone WF (we couldn't hex edit because the message at the beginning kept desynching it), and TotWC, PSS, and CCM are hexed back in.
I just thought of something... In the JRB room, there's an aquarium on the left of the painting (when facing it) that you can get into by BLJing against the wall. I've seen a video of this a little while ago. Maybe you could use the spot to BLJ and get enough speed to get out of the room and into another level faster than by re-entering the bonus level, exiting to the lobby then doing the lobby glitch.
I hope I made myself clear, if not I'll try to get the video but since it's been ages, I'm not sure I can find it again
You mean this? If so, there's not much of a point because it's very slow and almost impossible to get any speed at all; exiting the course is much faster.
BTW, it's also possible (and somewhat less time consuming) to get into the Aquarium with the Lobby Glitch.
