Well, I'm not doing the stairs BLJ again, but it is worth it to restart the level (after the ship star) and not save after each star? You said the swimming wasn't the best it could be? Except for the very first part, I'll redo everthing as many times as it takes to get the run as good as possible. And for further stars, most of the routes would be the same (because they're the fastest)...if anyone has any better ideas for some good new strats that won't be longer than FODA's, they would help a lot in making the run more entertaining.

Well, JRB is done... Enjoy: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/3538/SUPER%20MARIO%2064%20%28USA%29%20-%20MRROBERTSZ%20-%20CCC%20TAS.m64 I appreciate any comments, contructive criticism, death threats, etc. I timed the applicible stars, and from what I got, they matched FODA's time. If anyone could recount, that would be great. Unfortunately it looks pretty boring, but at least there's a small alternate strategy. After JRB, what's better to start with: PSS or WF?

What the hell....? Wow, that's crazy. I definitely gotta use that in my CCC run.

Well, I've officially restarted the run, and I'm onto JRB; I'm hoping to have JRB done within a week.

What? What does Bob have to do with this?
If he ignored BoB, the run might look a little strange.

Well, I accidentally did it with at least one coin. Even if I can't get all of them in one drop, I should be able to do the first one with the method I discribed, then land on the edge of the next platform down.

I haven't seen your JRB run yet, but I'll check it out ASAP. If you haven't already, check out my world record video for the JRB red coins: http://youtube.com/watch?v=govtQIGQtDk That's 1:11, with pretty crappy swimming. I'm sure that a perfectly optimized TAS of the same route can get around 1:05. Oh, and good luck with the run...it'll be nice to have another run in progress whilst I do mine. We can trade times and junk. :)

I believe he means sacrificing frames here and there to make the run unique. I don't see a problem with that, if it's mostly unnonticeable.
Cool... I'll try to find a few nice, quick, entertaining tricks to try and make up for the Lobby Glitch.

You can just call me Robert... Or mr_roberts_z.

Test run -- I think this was more of a "Are these stars really possible? What about other ones?" run, and also get a vague idea of how long the stars will take. Keyword:Test.
Yes! You got it, that's exactly what I was thinking when I made the test run... One more thing... I think I found an insanely hard, but fast method for Pyramid Puzzle... Jump+kick off the top platform, and hit the sides of all the coin platforms; you can still move in mid-air, but since you kicked, you can't grab onto a ledge. You should still be close enough to the coins that you activate their triggers.

o hi thar! If all goes to plan, I'm gonna get going on the run on Friday, starting with JRB. But I still should know: should I do like FODA and make it slightly more entertaining?

Don't sweat not using the lobby glitch. You have to do what follows the guidelines.
Oh, that's not what I'm upset about... I'm just kinda worried that, frankly, without the Lobby Glitch, the run will be boring... Should I do like FODA and sacrifice a couple frames to make it a little more entertaining?

IMO, no N64 TAS collection is complete without a good, solid run of Automobili Lamborghini. :D

I think you should do Somewhere Over the Rainbow before you do Big House in the Sky, as it makes more sense. Anyone watching this would think "Why is he going up there again, he already got the star." If you did the house star second, they would think something like "Oh, he's going to get the one on top of the house. Wait, what? That was so awesome!"
You make a good point there, but I'm still gonna do it last. Somewhere Over the Rainbow was ridiculously hard to do it the test run... It took over 800 rerecords (almost a third of the total), and I wouldn't really feel good about following it up with 4 rerecord star that people already know what will happen in it. I think it may be the most impressive star in the whole game, and I really wouldn't want to follow it up with a star as crappy as The Big House in the Sky. Plus, since this CCC star is so new, I'm sure very few people that aren't in the GameFAQs/TASVideos community know about it. Like you said, they'd be wondering why I was doing it. Since it's a time attack, they would know that it's obviously for a reason, and hopefully they'd be stunned once they see the BLJ, like Asteron said. At least, that's the reaction I'm hoping for. ;) BTW, that guy Hb2 a couple posts up was the one who found how to get the last CCC star.

Yep, I've already accepted the fact that I can't use the Lobby Glitch... Oh well, I can still BLJ into JRB...which I'm currently having a hard time with. And nice to see you here, Ameba.

Hooookay then, I guess I'll just have to start with BLJing into JRB.

Yeah, in mid-jump, before Mario hits the ground again... I mean, the run is to get all the CCC stars, right? Not CCC the whole game... Think of this: after you get that big star after Bowser 3, Mario automatically dons a wingcap, which can't be changed.

Right, so what would happen if....I took them?

But they're coins... I think it shouldn't take any coins at all, even in the castle area. It's a coinless run.

I know, that's what's killing me. :( Plus, the run would be a lot less entertaining, IMO.

It's impossible... I've tried every angle I could. Then again...those coins don't really count as coins, since the game doesn't add them into the memory once they're picked up........ Or maybe they do.

Uh oh.... I think we have a slight problem... I can't BLJ in any either of the pillars without picking up the coins.

If so, then would it be worth it to do FODA's method for a little variety? If not that, then which course would be the best to start off with?

Question: What would be faster, using the method FODA did to get into JRB, then LJing to the painting, or using the Lobby Glitch to fly right into the painting?
