Yup, hit start, go down twice to the last option, and go left.

EDIT: This bowser level is annoying me. Spezzafer is 1 frame ahead of me on getting the third red coin, but he gain the frame early on. I've tried hex-editing but I can't get it to work because. I errasing his movie up till the start of the bowser battle so I locate which hex value to start with but it keeps giving me the full movie file so I can't locate, any advice here. I've also noticed the formula (Frame*4)+ m64 offset value, but I don't even know where to enter that. I probally don't even have that kind of search feature. I just TASed what I what I beleved to be the best tactics, but I now realise what me and Spezzafer do is almost symetrical.
Strange... There's no way that Spezzafer...cheated by unnoticably increasing the framerate or anything like that, right? Just asking; got nothing against Spezzafer. I'm not familiar with the finer details of making TAS's, so I may be talking nonsence.

So far, it seems that a good new 16-star TAS would have Mario use the Lobby Glitch to get into B1, get the star and beat Bowser there, then get to BoB, get the star/s there, then use the lobby Glitch to get into PSS. That's my logic.
What do you mean by PSS, is that the peach secret slide. These are very slow stars to get.
Wow, did I say that? My mistake, I must not have been thinking properly... Please disregard that.

Would it be possible to use the Lobby Glitch to BLJ right into the WF painting, like with no "backwards running around"? Because if so, it would be faster than the door sequence.

I don't think the lobby glitch is worth it, when it comes to entering WF, athough thats the place would be next on the to do list after Bowser, I'm also curious to find out if I'll skip the "You got a star you can now open another star door" text. I've spent nearly 2000 re-records on the first Bowser stage, I mananged to go faster than the previous version on get the first two red coins, but then I start to fall way behind and by the time I've got the third red coin the current 16 star is approaching the moving yellow platform.
2,000 rerecords? Wow, nice job... How exactly do you fall behind? And it seems like you're the one doing the 16-star TAS (correct me if I'm wrong), so should a new topic be created, as someone suggested before?

The only drawback to this is that I would need to re-enter the first bowser world and then enter the lobby. I've even thought about getting 9 stars in the lobby and getting the 10th in the wingcap. I thought about doing the lobby glitch to allow mario to do WF first, but then again the drawback to that is that we need to re-enter the painting and exit.
For JRB it proved like 2 seconds faster to re-enter the painting than to try opening the door since the door opening animation is some 7 seconds long about.
Theoretically, that would mean that if the Lobby Glitch were used to get into every "painting door" in the lobby, there would never be going through any doors that require stars (in the lobby)... Right?

How would you able to get through the Bowser door if you don't have 8 stars? You have to enter the Bowser level and exit. But why don't you make a new topic? We could discuss the 16 stars run there. This topic is full with the 120 stars run already.
I realized that you could get through without the 8 stars, so I said "if you were able". Prolly shouldn't have said anything... A new topic, eh? Who should create it? Moi?

I don't see how it's a drawback... It seems way faster than going back through the Bowser door (if you were able to). TASing it, it would take, like, a quarter of a second. And once you end up back in the center of the lobby, you can jump right into the door that leads to the Lobby Glitch... I'd say a mix of Lobby Glitches and normal door opening-sequences would work.

If you're gonna get the stars in BoB after going to bowser then it'd be faster to get then first wouldn't it?
Sorta depends which route you take... Overall, I think it would be pretty much the same... If you do B1 first, you could come out of the door, make a small jump onto the platform with the BoB door, get the BoB stars, then either triple jump to the PSS door, or do the Lobby Glitch to get through that door. Come to think of it, that's probably the better idea... So far, it seems that a good new 16-star TAS would have Mario use the Lobby Glitch to get into B1, get the star and beat Bowser there, then get to BoB, get the star/s there, then use the lobby Glitch to get into PSS. That's my logic.

You could always get them after Bowswer.
I'd suggest going to the PSS after B1, since it's only two long jumps away. And does anyone know how to put bookmarks into .m64 movies? I'm so sick of watching the intro ovre and over...

Woah, that's awesome... Seems perfectly optomized to me. I liked how you took a small stop in the BRoD when after you BLJ'd, whether it was intentional or not. Excellent job! Looked a lot faster than getting a star in BoB...

You know, I've seen that vid about 1,000 times, but this is the first time I noticed you got a little stuck at the warp... Anyway, the cutting up of runs is a good idea, but which stars did you have in mind?

I am a happy person in general. I wonder if TTC is any faster when still? I know it is easier on a console but thats not really applicable to a TAS.
I think it would be the same, since there's no reason to wait for any moving things... It might be a tad easier for some of the tricks, especially my super-time-saving-trick.

Fine... Suggestion for FODA: in WMOTR, you can long jump to various clouds instead of flying. Happy?

As for straying from the run, this thread has 86 pages and is almost 2 years old. There have been times when there have been no new WIPs for months. I can only plead insanity. Sometimes it just feels right to make a joke, though I hope that none of my jokes have been at anyone's expense. After this many months and this many pages, I think we've done a pretty good job of keeping the thread on track. If I have been rude and arrogant (and I have been), I apologize. At the same time, I'm proud that this is one of the friendliest and most flame-free communities on the net.
Even though I've only been a member here for a couple of months (been watching for a lot longer), I agree with that statement 100%.

Ehh, a serious board could use a miniscule amount of fun/humor.

I assume that's Whomp's Fortress?
Wait you really don't know about Wompa's Fortress? The entrance is right underneath the "L is real 2401" sign in the courtyard. The stars in it are much faster than the ones in Whomp's Fortress.

Get three stars [11 stars] 8. Head for HMC and talk to Toad [12 stars] 9. Get three stars in HMC [15 stars] 10. Continue as normal
That could definitely work...

With the stuttering thing, it's very hard to keep going even after you've jumped.

Well, it looks hopeless, at least for now...But we can still get to the basement with zero stars, which is good enough. Now back to the TAS?

It might be possible to BLJ on them, but it's very unrealistic (even TAS-wise) that you could get enough speed to take you all the way past the DDD door.

Ohhhh, now I see what you're talking about... I wasn't aware that you could get stuck in the ground until now... Does getting stuck in the ground compromise any chance of BLJing?

Was there any especific angle for it to work on the lobby pillar?
To BLJ, not really. The whole area was invisible wall, so you could do it at almost ay angle (you'd have to go at a specific angle if you were aiming for something, of course). I'm almost sure the Toad-pillar would work, if only it were wide enough to allow a BLJ.

How about the space between the bottom of the glass and the floor? Try BLJing against the wall right there... It could work as a wedge.
