I can't believe some people didn't know about the warp... Anyway, this was real nice, and the new HMC was an excellent improvement over the old one.

...the key to get to TTC and RR? You don't need a key for that door, you need stars... And FODA already did that in the preliminary 120-star run.

Anyway, what exactly does come next? WDW? And something to ponder on... What's more efficient? Getting the 100 coins with the Secrets, the Top of the Town, or the Red Coins?

Just finished watching the 74-star run... The 100-coin route was great. BTW, it might be a tad premature, but I made some videos a while back that might help with WDW: http://youtube.com/watch?v=OnYIxqpV8O0 http://youtube.com/watch?v=DeFcpGg22XQ

Just looking at it again, maybe you're right about the length... Sorry bout that. It's still be nice if someone timed it out to see the true difference between routes.

The maze route can seriously be improved... HMC Map And I got one more question... Pleeeze don't flame me, I'm just a tad new with emulators and I know this isn't the right board to ask but it's just a simple question... When watching an .m64 movie, is there any way to skip chunks, rather than just lengthening the fps rate?

Very nice! I just have one question... Why is the route in the Maze so long? You seem to go through almost every part of the maze before getting to the hole in the wall...

Okay, then... Back to SM64, what would be the fastest way to get MIPS 2? From where FODA left off, MIPS 2 is directly in front of Mario. If he did a long jump, he could catch him before he went past the area leading to HMC.

Anyway, back on topic (sorry...), I noticed that in CofMC, if you haven't hit the Metal Cap switch, you can triple jump on it and land in the water. You won't get any message until you step on dry land again. A well aimed triple jump (and ground-stomp in midair) can get you enough force to land directly on the star if you already got the 8 red coins.

It definitely couldn't go into the room leading to the Metal Cap Cavern, because there's a firm wall blocking it. But I'm still not giving up on the "BLJ right onto Metal Head Mario Can Move"... And, sure, I'll make a video doing it again on the console. It looks almost identical to yours. Oh, I timed it, and it takes waaaaay shorter time to BLJ to the platform leading the to Metal Cap, jump on the Sea Monster, and hop onto the sunken island than it does to go the normal way, even if you perfectly got onto the island without the sea monster.

OMG, I just tried the BLJ on a console (no turbo controllers), and I got it the first time! And the second time! And on, and on, and on. If you aim right, it's incredibly easy to do. Also, I made a little discovery. It looks like the room with the "Metal-Head Mario can move!" has no ceiling, just invisible walls that prevent wall kicking up to...wherever. Because of that, I'm thinking an incredibly well-timed BLJ could get Mario to land directly on that star.

It's probably useless because this is a TAS, but I found a way to get to the platform leading to the Cavern without the Sea Monster on a normal console. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sI87IWd7LNw

I figured out something that'll save at least 45 second from HMC. I'll post a vid of it tomorrow...

"EFF EYY KYU" Lol, that's funny! For those who don't get it, it's "FAQ" spelled phonetically. FUNETIKLEE

No, no, I meant that if FODA were to try and use that method, he could also use what I said to influence it, in order to make the TAS about 1.5 seconds than it would've been. Sorry for the confusion, I should have specified what I meant.

Hi, all. I'm new here, but I've been following this thread for a looong time. I think FODA is doing a fantastic job, and I'm highly anticipating the 120 TAS...

I believe this little timesaver hasn't been used, so I'll post a video of a new method: www.dan01.com/sm64/Myles Bukrim - Hazy Maze Cave - 6 - Watch For Rolling Rocks - 0.15.wmv it's worth checking out for the new 16 star run for example.
Actually, I think that could be improved by at least one and a half seconds. As soon as he enters the door, he runs to the end of the ground. That takes about a second, and it could be eliminated if he just jumped directly on to the slope. Also, at the end, he double-jumps into the wall kick. If he did a triple jump, he could slide attack in mid-air directly into the star. That would skim about half a second off. If FODA uses that method, this could probably help a little bit.
