I must say...this game is as boring as hell. I'm inclined to vote yes, though, simply because it's an improvement.

Nitsuja skipped it in his KSS run, so I figured I would give it a shot. It's a one-player no damage run, so I'm not using Wheelie Rider. I'm also going to try to use a different ability for each boss. Here's a WIP that completes Dynablade and Waddle-Dee: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/3340/mushroom-kss.smv It uses WIP1 timing. I'm going off a guide here, so if there's something more efficient than bombs against Dynablade, please tell me. Also, how does it look? This is my first serious attempt at a TAS, so it's probably horribly imprecise (I swear I thought I did more than 57 rerecords). Thanks in advance.

what settings are you using? I'm using the command line version, so it doesn't automatically choose the correct settings.

I tried to run this about two weeks ago, and yeah, the desync is ridiculous. It barely even played for half a second. I'm looking forward to this.

I watched it. It played back fine and it looks great so far. Keep that level of suspense throughout the whole game and it would be a very good submission.
First, SNES9x is more heavily supported here than ZSNES. For one, the modified version that's on this site doesn't desync on you every three seconds. It doesn't matter whether you prefer one emulator over the other (personally, I like ZSNES when it comes to actually playing games), fact of the matter is that SNES9x is currently the emulator of choice for TASing.
I think zmv is tentatively supported; it's just that nobody's submitted one. I'm forced to use it because no supported emulators besides ZSNES and Gens compile worth a damn on Ubuntu.

On the download page, click "Download file" and then type in the security code thingy. Then click the button under the text field (don't hit "Enter") and the download should start. The Clue one is a zmv, and the SMB3 one is an mkv.

Other desirable features: for automation, zsnes should boot up in movie replay mode and automatically stop after a fixed duration. Parameters between passes vary a little bit. Which version of mencoder might change if I'm doing something dirty with mencoder's source code.
This confuses me. Also, off-topic: how would I do hard subs in Linux?

What settings aren't appropriate, out of curiosity? If it's the res, bitrate and such, I think there's a config file for that.

I've made a couple of movies with it. Nothing extensive (meaning, nothing beyond 30 seconds), but what I did test worked great. I thought frame advance was messed up until I realized I had frame skip set to 9.
That AVI making code has to go

Slow motion, frame advance, rewind, rerecording, export to x264/xvid/lossless? In an official release? Is there any reason this shouldn't become the standard for SNES movies from now on? Great stuff.
