I have now tried and failed several times to run Sonic Adventure DX in Hourglass r81. I have tried almost every possible combination of settings, but nothing seems to work. What settings to you have to even be able to play the game with Hourglass? I tried enabling multithreading (which in most cases can screw everything up in my experience), disabled and enabled everything in the runtime-settings, but to no avail. Edit: I'm using Windows 7.

Have you tried changing the Graphics -> Surface Memory? "Let the game choose" is, in my experience, not the best option for... well any game. The option that's helped me getting any game working best is choosing "System Memory", but try everything and see what happens.
System Memory manages to load a save state once regardless of key and then crash Local Video Memory can manage to load once for every Save State Key Assigned So technically TAS is possible, but it would be rather tedious on just restarting the game to rerecord over parts. It wouldn't be able to reach the 5 figure rerecord count of Mupen or SNES9X quite yet
Hmm. I think I'll try to install the game and test it out for myself. Just to rule out your computer :)

Ok um. I think it works now, I think the problem was that it kept resetting the "Graphics > Surface Memory > System Memory" to let the game choose.
This is a problem for me too, Hourglass restores all settings to default whenever I shut it down and start it up the next time. Kind of annoying.

Hello there. I was testing out Hourglass-r81 with different games today, and I have some great news: the game Streemerz is compatible with Hourglass-r81! Okay, so it's not THAT big news, seeing as most people haven't even heard of it, but let's just say that it's a fan-made remake of a game for one of the Action 52-games for NES. It's in the spirit of I Wanna Be That Guy and Bionic Commando. It can be found here: http://www.superfundungeonrun.com/?page_id=785 Been trying it out for a few hours now and it seems stable and good enough for TASing this game. It's a short one, so it should be fast enough for anyone willing to take it on (I suck at this game). As far as I've figured out until now, it's best played back with Multithread Disable and 60 FPS and Disable DirectSound creation (haven't found anything that says it HAS to be that yet though). Edit: Okay, when I tried to start AVI recording, it said that the movie would desync for some reason, but not when I just play back the video without AVI... Edit2: I somehow "fixed" the AVI not syncing (don't know how really) and now it's working like a charm! I uploaded a test so that you can see for yourselves: Edit3: I finished the game (even though it seems that it cannot be finished in this version) without dying: Link to video Edit4: Oh, and it's not the flash game, it's the standalone exe-game that can be found here: http://www.superfundungeonrun.com/?page_id=785 below "Download STREEMERZ" (version 1.3). Noticed that I had to clarify this, for as far as I know, there is no way to record a flash game with Hourglass, unless the flash game itself is inbedded into an exe-file. Technically, it should be possible, but Streemerz have some kind of DRM that disallows the game to be played from anywhere but the flash-site it's currently hosted on, so for that to work with Streemerz, it has to be cracked or something, which is not something I'm going to discuss here, or anywhere else for that matter...

Diddy Kong Racing DS would be awesome. I've watched the one on N64 two times already, and I just finished the first adventure myself. It's a lot different than on the N64 really, so it's not like it would be the n64 repeated on another system.

Hello. I'm Nesfreak here (obviously), a member that have been inactive for a while, but now my life is beginning to feel empty without TASVideos, so I'm partly back. I wanted to ask you if it is okay that I use your video as an example of a series on YouTube that I started that's called "Obscure Game Reviews"? As the name suggests, the series are reviews of obscure games that almost noone has ever heard of, and after watching your speedrun, I thought that it was the perfect game to start the series with (been planning for ages, this was just the fire that lit the fuse). Of course you get all the credits for the tas, no question about it. I also link directly to the submission and to tasvideos.org so that everyone who sees the video can find us here :) Sincerely, Nesfreak

Actually, most here use either 98.28 or FCEUX
Ooh, I did not know that :P But you can't record fcm with FCEUX right? Anyways, tried to play Super Mario Bros. now... I'm usually pretty good at it, but apparently that's changed... *sigh* So anyways, it goes pretty good up to 8-1, and then it starts to go badly. Oh and after the first game-over, there's a small "stop" while I'm panicking because I didn't remember how to do the continue-thing where you start at the latest world. And then I remembered. Didn't finish the game, never have so without savestates, so there's no surprise... :P You can get it here: Super Mario Bros. (JU) [!].nes was used. Edit. Oh, and I just come to think about it...

I've made a remake of the music in the game actually, because no matter how bad the game sucks, the music rocks! Or atleast in my remade version ;) You can listen to it here.

Okay, this I gotta try... One of my absolutely favorite games when I was a kid was Power Blade, I could finish it without dying with my eyes closed. But that was when I was a kid and not messed up with todays 3D-games... *sigh* So without further ado, here's my own take on Power Blade. I used "Power Blade (U) [!].nes" and recorded it with FCEU 0.98.12-blip.win (the one that mostly everyone else uses). The second and fourth stage is, in my opinion, the hardest levels in the game. On the fourth level, I had this nagging feeling that I forgot something. And when I got to the flying platforms in the air (before the boss), it hit me. I forgot the ID-guy... So I had to go back from the platforms in the air all the way back down... and when I get back up, what happens? I die. Of course... Frustration level 8. Other than that it was pretty smooth. Got confused a couple of times again and got a game-over somewhere, but all toghether not too bad I guess...

Asking questions in Internet -- first rule: Do not ask for people. Do ask for answers. The topic (thread title) is what attracts or detracts readers. If it contains something they're knowledgeable about, they will happily read further and perhaps answer. If it doesn't, they won't check the actual post unless they have lots of extra time and they're bored. As knowing what "this" means (in "who can answer this") requires reading the actual post, chances are they will ignore it. Asking for people means that if the people matching your query are not interested in answering $UNSPECIFIED_QUESTION (when the thread title does not summarize the question!), they will ignore you without ever knowing what it is you had on your mind, and without you ever benefiting from their knowledge. A badly written thread title is also disservice for your fellow users, who would otherwise use the search to find threads matching their problem. Nobody could ever guess that to find a thread that talks about 7zip problems, they should search for "any programmer who can answer this", rather than "7z files".
Ouch, that hurt :P But you're completely right, it was a bad title. But I didn't know how to summarize it, so it became a bad title. I sat with it for several minutes, but I'm not feeling well today (I have a baaad cold), so my head doesn't work allright :P

Hello. I was thinking. Nowadays, there are this format called 7z wich is very good for having roms packed in, and when you GoodMerge them, 7z is the format you want them to be in. The problem is, there is only one N64-emulator known to me that can actually open those packed roms, and that's Project64 version 1.7. You see the problem? V.1.7 is only available to donators, and I'm not one of them. So I was wondering if there was any way of making a plugin to an emulator so it could open these 7z-archives? And if so, how? I've just only began with Ubuntu and started to learn a little about programming (though my brother is far more experienced), so if anyone could tell me how to do it, give me some tips or even make the plugin themselves, please! I need to know. It would be sooo helpful! If you read this far, Thank you.

Are there any current videos that aren't being seeded by anyone?
I don't know about current videos, but everytime I try to download a video with Bittorrent, more often old videos, there are none who has 100% of the file. But the point is that there is a risk that you won't get the video, but sit there for hours waiting instead of watching it directly @ Google Videos.

You know, I started reading this topic and almost immediately thought of Google Videos. I think it's the perfect solution, especially for those who are tired of using bittorrent when there's no seeding. If all videos where on Google Videos, then they would always be available. As long as Google don't change their policy or something like that. 'Cause I mean, it's not impossible, is it? That's all I had to say I guess.
