There seems to be some debate on whether or not that this run should either "Obsolete" the existing NTSC run, or become another branch...relating to PAL. In order for me to finalize my judgement, I would like to hear more opinions on what direction it should take. I'll give this a few more days, before finalizing this submission. As it stands, if we accept as two different branches...why? We can already see that the PAL version is dramatically different in sensitivity to earlier changes. Those changes, would definitely warrant a different set up for ACE. With NTSC, this doesn't happen. Is this different enough to warrant that new branch? If ACE is not a consideration, what about the game's region? The game is essentially the same, on the presentation layer, but with that piece of information only...should it be enough to warrant a new branch. This would basically be categorizing timing differences that allow unique things to their own region. In this case, inputs are affecting the game, where this couldn't in NTSC? The only other option I've been debating is PAL's ability to directly beat the NTSC TAS. Do we think it matters that the game's regional differences separate them enough? So please post your thoughts and ideas here in this thread please. If I don't get any feedback, over the next few days...this will be my current thought: We can accept what we have, and obsolete the NTSC version. Later on, if we have convincing evidence to have them run in separate branches, we could go back and unobsolete the NTSC version.

The reason for your higher frame count, is that you didn't truncate your input file. I will take care of this, since I'm judging it. Just remember in the future to trim your movie before submitting.

I have reached out to MrTASer and informed him on the optimization issues. Plus...at the end of Level 1, the layout changes...thus more unique content must be included. I'm going to continue working on this. Once I'm done, i'll set the submission back to "New" and let another judge take over. Besides all the issues that need to be addressed, I do think this game is nice and it hold to the classic versions we are used to see from this console. I do want to point out that this is not exactly a "Homebrew", yet a port. Yes vote anyway.

I found it! This was the ad that I use to see in Compute's Gazette for this game. I never really thought to buy it. Thanks for TASing it...now I can see what it was all about.

I need help understanding a command line prompt issue. I had a setup that runs a batch file to open up multiple instances of Bizhawk. Well, I moveed over to Bizhawk 2.9 and I couldn't get it to work anymore. I went back to 2.8, and now the problem persists. Is something getting written to a registry that would affect this? This is really depressing, since I can't understand why this won't work anymore. The synopsis is below: I'm using this command line: EmuHawk.exe --lua="C:\XXXXX\BOT.lua" --movie="c:\XXXXXX\Movie.tasproj" "C:\XXXXX\romname.rom" The problem is, when the emulator is brought up, TASStudio is making me convert the loaded project over to a new one. "Cancel" just stops the process. "Yes" or "No" just does it anyway. This newly created project doesn't have savestate information or markers. How can I get around this? I've tried using Powershell, but for some odd reason "SendKeys" will not activate the menu options (I tried on other applications and it works).

That was the first thing I thought of. I've had some C64 games that upload faster than my TAS length, but I also see games like Krusty's Super Fun house take hours on end for something that is about an hour. How do you guys manage internet interruptions and other problems? I am all for an encode...because of archiving, but I also see that a full round of work here is also a MASSIVE challenge...even though that game is not at all desirable to me. I do congratulate CPP on this effort, and I will say the same for the rest involved with getting this submission completed.

I've been waiting for a follow up on the finding that Alyosha made. Are you planning on revising your movie, or can I continue judging with the latest inputs?

Let me step in and clarify from my experiences with this game. Moon Patrol has always been a two course game. The second course, has always been called the "Champion Stage". In this submission, LogansGamingRoom doesn't complete this course and needs to be finished, in order for it to satisfy the rules for "1 Loop". After the 2nd course it complete, the looping begins. I've reached out to the author and have explained that 1 loop requires both courses to be complete. When this submission has expired the initial judging window...I'll set it to "Delayed" so that LGR can provide an updated movie file.

Not quite. It seems the hole they appear can change...but the timing is almost the same. Its a weird situation. You can get ahead, but then you fall behind. Its almost like a balance is being maintained.

Yeah, it was very disappointing. I figured it would have the same kind of RNG control that other C64 games shared. In this case, we found a timer that we couldn't determine any manipulation. I was hoping to see a crazy high score that was astronomical...but nope. :( That is the reason I reached out to DrD2k9.

I have to admit, I'm liking the arguments here, but all I can offer is this: I do a TON of BOTing, which bloats the re-record count; however, it was true effort in searching for the end result. With an upcoming release, my new BOTing will now require that I manually change the value to be 16 times that of a single instance....since I have moved into a new type of speedy BOTing. (Multi-Instance) As for manual effort, re-records on my part do show my effort. As time goes by, my re-record count is getting lower and lower...only because I have improved over the years and don't need to do as much experimenting to figure things out. Now...I can be fine with it being left for public viewing, but I am finding myself not looking at it anymore.

Meanwhile, I was wondering if you'd like the idea of producing an additional movie file that aims for 1st place in all tracks. Nowadays we can easily have multiple movie files for the same publication page, so it could be a nice addition for making all kind of audiences happy. Only if you really feel like doing it, though.
I can do that. Just note, it would end up being an edited run of all the IGT bests. So it would mimic the effort of a pure IGT TAS. I would have to write a lua to help the publisher piece it together though. Give me a day or so.

I'm annoyed at myself for not finding anything in your previous submission. This just tells you how much time you need to spend with a game to understand it better. I'm going to give this a quick review again.
