Actually, It is de-syncing here as well. I'm not sure how this happened. I'm going to give it another try.

Ok...I have Re-TASed this, at the request of Samasara. I have to say, I'm a little disappointed with the results. Here is the break down of the new details.
  • Changed emulator to Bizhawk 2.8.0
  • Found a routing error: Instead of completing all of the "Right" side content, I used up my "Chance" first, before completing the final items on the right. This kept the long trek back towards the shuffle, which was swapped out for the short distance to the change.
  • This cracked version took less time to load, but has an IGT routing error.
    • First Frame of Title: 2331
    • Ending Frame: 6535
    • Total (IGT): 4204 Frames
    • Total (overall): 20 Frames Faster
  • This un-cracked version took longer to load, but has IGT routing improvements
    • First Frame of Title: 2457
    • Ending Frame: 6555
    • Total (IGT): 4098 Frames
    • Total (overall): 20 Frames slow
Thankfully, the time didn't get much slower than it did. The new route saved 40 frames. Honestly, I can't explain the reason why this version would load slower. Should we go with the previous version and fix the routing?...even though we have a splash screen? Also, as I was typing this...Samsara just called out a desync issue. I'll see what I can do.

Not at all. This BOT made quick work of it. I can redo it by tomorrow.

One question: If you optimized for this game's buggy implementation of the... 'Yathzee' rules instead of the normal Yahtzee rules, could you get a higher score, or are the two strategies the same?
I tried different orders, but the flaw seems to come from having Yahtzee's applied to those two "Straights". My guess is, that the logic used for them, doesn't see a straight, when you have a Yahtzee...which is a big mistake in the rules. On the other hand, supplying it with the correct values, will void any bonus obtained for a Yahtzee. I attribute this to limited knowledge, during those years. After-all, I can understand that...since I had a "Hoyle" book of games, which was not easy to determine the correct rules. Now that we have online games, we can play enough until we see the true behavior of them.

Ok...I'm bringing over my "userfile" information to this post, in consideration to feos's concern. The ROM I chose was picked among 3 different sources: *This WIP uses a version that was extracted from the companion disk, issued from a magazine called "Magic Disk 64". Loads directly to the original game content. ROM Name: Yathzee.d64 *Another ROM, Yathzee_1992_CP_Verlag.d64, has a trainer screen...which leads into the original content. *A final ROM reviewed, comes from "Magic Disk 64"...which has a selection screen to get to the game. In terms of speed, the obvious choice is to use Yathzee.d64 (Option 1)...but as for authenticity, what would make more sense for a publication on this site? Ok, so feos has addressed this and I'm going with the version that has the least overhead. I personally like this, because trainer screens and menu operating disks take away from the experience. Also, it obviously destroys a true representation of time. Now, I'm in agreement with the digitized voice being horrible, but it does represent a time when synthesizers were coming of age. To be done, via code only, I think is more impressive...but we have gone way past that time and it does seem annoying by today's standards. Here are two encodes to show the speed difference with "Sound" and "No Sound". So...considering this was a game from 1991, which would make a better showcasing? With Sound https://youtu.be/2zjU33yRgBo No Sound https://youtu.be/JlM9NLZKodI

It seems that a submission of Yathzee (Yes, it is spelled that way in the game), has more things to consider than I originally thought. DrD2k9 and myself have been discussing some of these situations. Some deal with the correct ROM usage, the breaking score situation (not an issue anymore, but ensuring that Max Score was technically achieved), and the decision on whether sound or no sound should be used. (Sound causes the game to freeze, when it speaks...but no sound is boring IMO). I have uploaded two WIPs for consideration: No Sound version: https://tasvideos.org/UserFiles/Info/638024475294705722 Sound version: https://tasvideos.org/UserFiles/Info/638024474244653247 Website for the "Perfect" score situation: https://www.gusworld.com.au/blog/2016/10/09/whats-the-maximum-score-you-can-get-in-yahtzee/

I've been reviewing the rules and I see that "Board Games" are now allowed. There is a game that I TASed for fun, over a year ago. When I was done...it puzzled me, since it didn't turn out as I expected. The game is Yahtzee, and my wife is an expert at the game. I asked her to confirm my moves and she told me that something is not getting calculated correctly in the game. So, my question is...would a Yahtzee game, submitted as Max Score, be accepted...even though the game breaks in calculating it? I'm getting 1535, when we know that the max possible score is 1575. So, my guess is...that the developers couldn't confirm their game to this extreme.

This was very cool to watch. I was impressed how both characters were used creatively and timely. I liked it enough, that I might do a review of this TAS. Great job!

I've been debating on reviewing this or not. So, let me see if this adds to the conversation. Reviewing...(with trepidation) DwangoAC asked if I would take a look at the technical video stream with Sauraen, on the deep technical side of how Triforce% was approached. Because of that, I decided to use some of that experience to review this submission. This is one of the very few documentaries that kept me watching all the way through. Why? My background is in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. I program for a living, while dabbling with electronics as a hobby. Additionally, I use both backgrounds to work with such devices as Micro-controllers, where both worlds give me the lowest level of control over hardware. The only other area that I wish to bring up, is my focus on the 6502/6510 microprocessor computers where I am still actively trying to write ML/ASM games that take existing concepts and add a touch of uniqueness to give revival to older and common games. Now that you know a bit about my background, it will be evident as to why I am bringing up points that interests me about this submission. First off, this work is among the best ACE I've ever seen. Even though I understand the concepts behind all the moving parts, there is no way that I could have ever discovered or performed any of this work. It is evident, that the 25+ people working on this and the 21 years to figure a way to inject and execute this code, in obviously a major accomplishment and worthy of high recognition. Second...the creation of these inputs, in regards to matching a human having super capabilities, was a great approach to making this even more authentic. I can't understand the alternate method (which I believe was using injected code to self modify itself), but being able to perform everything directly via the controllers, is a point that I wish to emphasize as having priority for acceptance. I've known for sometime that our N64 emulators are not up to the challenge of faithfully reproducing emulation that matches the console's behavior. So, being done directly on a console is absolutely more important and should absolutely override any emulation that exists. After-all, emulation should match the system. Not being able to reproduce this via a file, isn't enough when we see the proof from a GDQ demonstration on real hardware. Third...the content presented is among the highest demonstration of skill and entertainment...at least it does so for me and my technical side. I am completely blown away by the brilliance of each member, who fought to figure out such a feat. Because I've been given the honor of posting reviews, I think it would be alright for me to give my opinion on the expectations of its classification of entertainment. Basically, any acceptance of this should earn the highest level of entertainment we have to offer. So...I'm not sure that I can say enough about this submission, but I'm going to try and close this out with my points for consideration. *Acceptance: This is a touchy situation. Obviously, the rules don't allow for it. It certainly isn't re-producible in most capacities (IE Emulation, Twitch API interface for custom entries. etc..), and most of us are not going to create a set up at home to replay what we've all seen. In regards to the GDQ demonstration, there is certainly value in having this for the site. I like the fact that Samsara is going to fight for giving this a home...but what will that home look like? *Verification: In this case, emulation is not going to provide proof that something will work. As we have read/seen, N64 emulation is currently incapable of performing the actions needed to have a full movie file for verification. Because this run was done publicly on real hardware, it should stand as a reproducible item...after-all the console is the real application here. :) *Classification: For me, and confirmation from DrD2k9's post, the front end of our community is represented well by our Ambassadors, where the best of the best is showcased where ever they go. Because of that, they give TAS Videos a look of excellence that draws new members in and for people to participate. So, as Noxxa stated...we certainly could use a new category for housing these types of submissions. I know the staff will certainly figure something out soon, but as it stands...we don't have the ability to apply proper attribution for every aspect of a publication. Mind you, that this is a "Work of Art" and among a few entries that should be treated in a special way. Sorry...I don't have any suggestions on how that should be. *Technical: In the Dwango/Sauraen presentation stream...the information was mind-blowing. By the end, it was clear that the way it works (at a high-level), makes a lot of sense. But I'll re-state once again...I would have never been able to discover or recreate any of this myself; however, their approach did remind me of how I have worked, in the past with employeement. With me...when i was given a task, I would watch how things respond and eventually I would figure out its operation so that I could do the work requested of me. With this Triforce% team, they did the same thing...only more extensively. Their analysis was deep enough to recognize how the "Heap" was built for the interaction of any object in the play field. Because of this, the journey to coding that area became the starting point for pushing out the "Bootstrap" injections to eventually produce what we saw. Very fascinating stuff and extremely technical. I could certainly learn many things from this team.

Reviewing.... I originally thought that I could have gone through Winslinator's inputs and have an updated movie by now, but after my analysis of his work...its going to take a lot longer than I thought. In fact, this is beginning to look like my effort for Coleco's Venture...where I have spent around 10 months so far. To start off, Winslinator has put a decent amount of work into this...as it is fairly hard to get ahead and stay ahead. What I mean by that is...in my efforts to optimize Level 1 (which includes 4 rooms), I was able to peak at 51 frames cut, but ending in 43 frames at the tally screen. There are four things going on, that make this game difficult to optimize: 1. RNG is controlled by movement and shooting. Since shooting can cause lag, it is left over to manage it by moving around the screen to get the AI to behave differently. 2. Exiting / Enter rooms. The game buffers inputs, up to a certain point. Because of this, your passage through the doors can hurt or help optimization. 3. Changing direction in this game is completely different, than that of the Coleco version. This version can turn and immediately make movement. Coleco, has a delay of about 10 frames before movement can occur. 4. Routing can make the best difference. Moving across a "Level Area" is faster, than inside a room. For instance, Room 3 of Level 1 can be entered from the left or right side; however, it takes more time to go from the left side to the right side of the room, if you have entered from the left. Even though I was able to find frames, Winslinator's work is very strong. As I started Level 2, I was slowly loosing more and more frames, that I previously found. Once I noticed this problem, I decided to drop out for now and make a co-authored submission later..once I've figured out the problem. In conclusion, this game operates very similar to that of Coleco (as it should, since it appears Coleco ported it over to Intellivision)...where you must complete all Nine Levels. At that point, Even though unique content is demonstrated for Levels 1 through 3, Winslinator completes the game for all treasures up to the highest Level...9. Either way, this is enough to satisfy the rules. However!!! As you progress through each level, RNG has a smaller percentage of changing the enemies behavior, as AI becomes stronger and stronger. Once Level 9 is completed, it repeats over and over on that level.

First off, you make the opponent look like they are an idiot! Second, 64 cores??? DUDE I considered a Threadripper, but a CPU version that had 24 cores; however, I settled for the 3950x (16 core). It worked for my needs, but dang! I'm regretting it now, since I'm trying to work on a multi-core lua script to distribute the work load for any of my TASes.

Reviewing... First off...the movie syncs all the way to the end for me. Second, I have analyzed the improvements made over #4813: Weegeechan's NES Balloon Fight in 02:39.62 and the most notable differences are the control of RNG on the balloon bonus levels. In fact it is quite impressive to see just how fast the bonus levels are now completed. As for all other aspects, the normal rounds...aiqiyou edges them out (on most), but I do not have a count on level improvements (I usually like to do so with a lua script, and might later...but I have so many things I have to do in life). Because I was a follower of Rodrigo (on twitch), I was drawn into this game. Personally, I have tried it and it is rather difficult to control. So, TASing this games has been a treat to watch and this is very good work. Since the previous TAS also stops after completing Phase 12, I can understand why this also follow suit. My only concern is how the rules apply in this area for unique content. I am curious on the judge's comments on how the new rules apply to the stopping point of this game. Looking past phase 12, content is different...but I will just leave it at that and watch for judgment. Great work!

I used to watch speed runs of this game by Rodrigo, and this is a great game to see TASed. I'm also happy to see an improvement over the previous publication of 799 frames. I'll be reviewing this run, hopefully by the weekend...but looks to be a great piece of work. GG! Yes vote.

After 6 years I'm still personally in the camp of "this TAS is incomplete as this title features more than one loop". I mean at least it's faster than the attempts from 6 years ago so thank you for that, but this game does get increasingly more difficult.
I've been having this conversation with DrD2k9 and I've been saying the same thing; however, he states that the updated rules don't require it anymore...as long as there isn't any "Significant Differences". I think we need to identify what that means...if it doesn't apply to speed and increased tasks.

Reviewing.... After seeing a review of this game on Zero Page Homebrew https://youtu.be/QHD_BZ9bNwY?t=3716, I have a concern that needs addressing. Completing one repetition doesn't seem to be enough to satifiy the rules, as difficulty increases in two different ways. For one, the game repeats with increasing number of parcels to deliver. Two, the speed of the dogs also gets faster later on. Because the run needs further development, I am going to test its optimization upon an updated movie file; however, it doesn't visibly appear to have glaring issues though. I've talked with MrTASer and he is going to look into adding more rounds to this TAS. Seems that the rules define a single loop, as being accepted...as long as no new content is shown. My first thoughts were that speed and increased tasks would qualify for this...meaning that you would continue until it no longer exhibits these increases. Then that leaves the term "significantly different" referring to other things besides speed and more activity.

Reviewing... DrD2k9 has a made a really good effort in optimizing this movie. In comparing this to a human run, this movie is a lot more fun to watch..as human runs are just painful to experience. In terms of optimization...I couldn't find one frame of improvement. There is only one frame lost and it was used to alter RNG. This adjustment provided a direct route to the last room, providing the fastest time to Senta. On the way, DrD2k9 also exploits a one frame trick that saves the most time throughout this run at frame 365. This prevent the "back-tracking" for Tomarc, so that he can start his accent jump much more quickly. The only thing that I can not speak for, is how the game progresses in difficultly. This is a tough situation, where the pre-game "set-up" takes longer to configure; however, I figured the game should be played on the hardest difficulty...according to the rules *If a game's second quest is just a harder difficulty mode, it is allowed by itself. In comparing this situation, I have done two difference scenarios that have been accepted. 1. #7232: nymx's C64 Boulder Dash in 11:56.00, which was played on the hardest difficulty and satisfies the rule above 2. #6889: nymx's C64 Confuzion in 26:58.33, which was played from the very beginning and progressed until difficulty no longer increased (which completed a second loop of puzzles from 65 through 96...repeating the same puzzle from levels 33 through 64) Aside from this one point, I see that optimization is right on, routing was perfect, and the goal for beating the game was met. In addition, the inputs sync for me and is good to go.

I found it very interesting that this game (A Published Cartridge Game) had 10 rooms, where Royal Rescue (A Magazine Type-In Game) had 16.
