Well, this is something to watch. First mark of excellence is the choreography. If that had no been done, I doubt I would want to watch the entire thing through. Second mark...very clean and optimized game play; however, one spot appears to have a problem...but considering the reputation of Samsara and EZgames, I would like to hear an explanation on the stage with the fire dodging. Maybe I'm not catching something in the write-up, but at 11:03...you pause. Couldn't damage boosting be used to keep moving forward? Anyway...Yes vote to the duo!

Then in that case, would it be of interest to add a lua command to activate the 3 different levels of display used in the GUI? Something like: client.EmulationDisplay(0) = Full client.EmulationDisplay(1) = Minimal client.EmulationDisplay(2) = Absolute Zero I gave it a look in the bizhawk solution and I need to dedicate some time to figuring out the architecture of this app. If I figure out how to add that lua function, can someone upload it into GIT? Otherwise, is any developer interested in adding this feature?

The use of the display mechanism for "Absolute Zero" and "Invisible Emulation" seems to be targeting different places within the bizhawk application. 1. It appears that "client.invisibleEmulation" is not tied to the DisplayConfig.cs. Is InvisibleEmulation a lower level access to cut of more updates to get faster speeds? 2. Absolute Zero is in fact tied to DisplayConfig.cs, but I don't have any way to access via lua. I would like to have this feature added for use with lua. My reason for bring this up is due to an "crash" that I receive when using client.invisibleemulation(true). So, instead...I have been manually selecting Absolute Zero to turn on/off the emulator display. I have looked at the lua examples in bizhawk and I don't see anything special about its use. When I use client.invisibleemulation, am I experiencing a bug or misuse? Also, does this in fact have a lower level of control on updates? I like this feature, as it would solve a problem that I'm trying to automate. Any information on this would be greatly appreciated.

Hmmmm....very interesting. This error is still here (sorta), but it can be circumvented. Not sure if any focus should be given to fixing it, but here is how to get around the problem. When the message shows up (which comes up after running more than one emulator instance), just excuse the error. Go back to the lua console and play the script again. it will function as normal.

I've been waiting to see a decision on this submission for some time. I understand that there are conflicts, but I'm interested in seeing this submission get published for one reason...it does demonstrate an ability over humans that I'm not seeing in any posted youtube video. Also, I do know that the rules were recently updated...but I'm not sure what they were, since I didn't take the time to see what it was. (Basically, I've lost the discord update about it) Some thought on the subject are: Entertainment: No, the game doesn't have the "punch" that I'm looking for; however, I voted yes on the fact that is does blow away any human scoring that I've observed. IMO, the entertainment comes more from the ability to max out the score. Fixed Time: This game absolutely is against the rules for publishability if entertainment doesn't meet a high enough standard, if considered for fastest time. So...all I can see is that the only choice is...."Max Score". But, if "Max Score" is the goal...should Fixed Time be a reason to reject it? Its unfortunate that this game has a fine line between that has supporting documentation that does indicate a lack of acceptance. So, I believe that the stated goal should have some sort of override to prevent other rules from negating positive objectives. The section, in the movie rules, does state that:
There is no other way to define full completion for the game, because there is no way to collect or complete "all X" for any given criterion, aside from fastest completion
Yes, a theoretical any% is a consideration...if lag reduction can be demonstrated. But since a full completion currently doesn't exist for any%, then it should be accepted against the next statement associated with the above quote.
If a way to define full completion is discovered later on, a movie that achieves it is eligible to obsolete the existing "max score" publication.
As for the rest of the rules... Saturation does not exist and meets the rule.
If a game automatically resets the score as you progress (for example, in every level), "max score" must be reached in every such segment.
The game does reset on each new screen/game/task...The TASer meets this goal
A "max score" movie must complete the game. Playing beyond the defined completion point is not allowed.
The TASer also meets this goal. In summation....I believe the key point should be to decide rule "Priority", which can fix the dilemma that is delaying decision on this matter.

I know it’s pretty late for this, but there are several levels where on the final screen you simply land and walk all the way to the end. Is there a reason you don’t try using up fuel during these sections? And does it cost time to fire the laser? Just another way to use up fuel before the end. (I’m assuming less fuel equals faster level end)
Actually, I thought the meter referred to the air supply. Not sure if it was a manual or some other source that I read that. This, obviously, relates directly to a timer. Because of my original thoughts of it being "Air" related...I would have never checked it...since it obviously something that would waste time, trying to play around with.

Well...thanks EZ for the encode. Now, I was very pleased to see this game. I've been a fan of this game...ever since the arcade version came out. Even though I'm voting yes on entertainment (and yes, it was very entertaining), it was mainly because it was done so much better than human capabilities; however, I do question some areas that seem to be a little slow. IE: Level 14, you don't do much of anything for a few seconds. I'm not sure why that is the only way to affect RNG to bring down the QIX, but it seems that some of this could still be played with...while drawing out a line, even if it is just a little. Still, I think this is a good effort.

I have had a chance to think about my favorite version, of these 3 submissions, and I now have come to like the Colecovision version over the C64 port. I came to this conclusion by the following: 1. The inputs provided some wackiness that didn't exist in C64. These maneuvers gave us opportunities to exploit frames cuts and a challenge to optimize. These inputs are in the classification of normal game play. 2. The speed of the game is much faster than I expected. It dominated over the other two ports. 3. Coleco had the only version where a wall could be bombed, outside of the optimal range, to show partial destruction. This gave the game a bit more variety. 4. Glitches...well mechanical issues. There are a number of things that existed for exploitation that didn't exist in the other two ports. Helicopter blade / Laser firing...pressing against the wall. So, items that wouldn't normally be known to a speed-runner, yet discovered in TASing.

Ok...I used to play this a lot when I was in college. I really liked this a lot. Thanks for TASing it. It certainly is played above human capabilities, but it does seem to be optimal on the surface, but it does look a little questionable in some areas. Maybe this version is just different than the one I played on DOS. Question, was a "Last Input" used to set up the encounter with the Shofixti? If so, that was a clever selection for your last battle. Anyway...Yes vote.

DrD2k9 contacted me to report a flaw in my TAS. It occurred early in the TAS (Level 8). Fortunately, the re-sync brought up more cuts. 53 frames to be exact. This also came from running my BOT between Level 63 and 64 again...which took about 3 days. Admin or Judge...please replace my submission file with the following file: http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/66349111542519896

I have one question though: Does the game keep track of how many sparks you have in reserve beyond 9? If so, are there any glitchy effects when the number reaches certain thresholds? (100, 128 and 256 would be good ones to test for this purpose)
I've wondered that, and I probably should look into it...since I was curious. Since it didn't matter for TASing it, I never checked...sorry. But! since it caps off at 9, while the level indicator can show 10 and beyond...I have a feeling that 9 is the max.

What we discovered was a frame rule, that we believe is 8 frame in length...although, we don't understand it enough to carry a good conversation. BUT! this frame rule was responsible for "Eating" up gains that we made. This was evident when I first found a flaw in Level 3. At first, my gains were almost all gone, by the end of the level. So I went back and tried to figure out how to clean this up. What I found was changing some of the actions to different screens. For one, the old TAS laid a bomb down near the spider, above a hole. This was inefficient. So I killed the spider first and laid the bomb in another area...to prevent having to slow down. Well, this got us past the frame rule and helped to maintain our cuts. This is evident, at the start of each level...where we would randomly find a frame or 2 (sometimes up to 4 frames) of "No movement" where inputs were applied to take advantage of the dead waste. When I did my review, this discovery aligned the remainder of the TAS to fall in a different "Beat", helping to maintain our cuts. In regards to your U-turn, I suspect that your helicopter spin up was not done as late as possible to allow early forward movement and upward climbing at the optimal time to land. This is a tricky manuerver and can burn you on effort. On Coleco, we didn't have this problem as we could brush the edge while dropping a bomb....a technique that we started calling "Toe Pick". Basically, find the top of the curve for the best situation...if that makes sense.
