Que? The title for this joke submission is enough to make me laugh...and along with the submitter's name. LOL I have to say yes just for that alone.

Uh...is there something here that I'm missing. Doesn't seem to be a joke. Looks good from my point of view. Yes vote.

WUT!!! The Adventures of Lolo? I thought I had clicked on the wrong video. I can see from your first submission, around 1 week ago, that you are certainly improving this run. More than a minute cut? At that rate, I wonder how far you can take it. As many people here are aware, I'm big on re-record counts (even though that has been a hot discussion lately). Around 5 times the movie length isn't bad. So you certainly are doing the work...and it seems to be a pretty decent run. However, I'm just a player of this game and not a TASer. From what I can tell, there doesn't seem to be any crazy TAS tricks going on, rather...just a very insane speedrun. @3:43 Are you aware that you can still jump from the net and grab again? This is a red flag for me on optimization. This can clearly take off seconds. Since this is an any%, I usually vote yes for optimization and crazy speed tricks, but I don't see that here. I'm voting meh, because this is just not the TAS that jumps out at me.

Well, I can understand what EZ is talking about...but I tend to vote on the merits of optimization. Like c-square said, it does seem to be highly optimized. I thought it was clever on how you lure some enemies over to an exit to get out faster. Also, you tend to make moves that are close to death and make it appear to be on the edge. Some of the moves are very slow making this game kinda less attractive than other ports,...but! Yes vote from me.

Certainly not. Its just one of the factors to consider. The idea of bots have been mentioned a lot for the cause of high re-records. This is evident when I did the first F-Zero circuit, as I used a series of methods to automate some testing for me. From what I can tell, it paid off. But, for the GB Tetris TAS the re-record count alone says something about a bot being used. Seriously, almost 3 Million??? I'm not that dedicated.

I can imagine that this would become a tiring practice. With the last TAS I submitted, I certainly didn't have that in mind. LOL Although my number wasn't tampered with, it was lower than it should have been...with all the dropped backup files. Perhaps this is the reason I should using branching? Would a project file then hold all the effort?

The only point that I wished to highlight, is that the quality of sniq's movie is extremely high and that re-records certainly show it. I get it that the number can be bogus...but if we have it there, shouldn't we at least control it a bit so that it is not so meaningless to some considerations?

it makes much more sense to focus on the submission text, as it can tell a lot more about the background of a TASing project (assuming the author is willing to explain out his work). And if that is still not enough, then I have to note that a TASer can also stream his progresses on Twitch. What's a better proof than showing live your work while it's actually being done?
The submission text is always another point for judgement; however, my 2nd submission had content that was referring to techniques that have never been submitted before (IE spike-spark/flash suit and boomerang). It still wasn't enough to counter the category selection for my goal. With my first two submissions (rejections of course), they didn't have the re-record count (because I didn't know what I was doing with the input file). Because of that, some believed that I didn't put enough effort into...so it was un-provable, except for the span of time between my first and second submission and the reduction of running time. The entire process must be taken in consideration, even the feedback from the discussion thread. But, I guess I'm one of the few people that see a valid re-record count as a reason to investigate a TAS deeper. Whenever I see a ridiculously low re-record count, it kinda makes me want to walk away a bit or either vote something other than yes.

ThunderAxe31 has asked me to continue my discussion of re-records in this thread from the submission of: http://tasvideos.org/6312S.html I am a big on re-record counts, because it shows the effort behind someone doing a TAS. Let me bring up the re-record count for sniq's last submitted any% TAS...it is 369385..roughly 3 times the movie length. Now I've collaborated with sniq on a great deal of his work (mainly to get insight on anything in the future that I might do with SM), and I know that this number is highly reflective of his work. He is not the kind of person that just tries something one time and says, "that's it". In fact, he has done so much testing in single areas and abroad, that it shows that level of details is extreme and the quality of his work is of the highest standard. We have seen low-record counts from newbies and the lack of quality shows;however, I'm not un-forgetful about the idea that this number can also be bogus (tampered with, or the TASer is just not understanding that his work is making any progess). As with all TASers, the more we TAS...the more experience and understanding of how crucial it is to strive for perfection. This number actually can become a quality factor and give a preliminary look at the seriousness of a submission. I'm currently working on a TAS that is mostly likely going to be 400K records, when I'm done. If this field was locked out from direct tampering, it will absolutely reflect the effort and time put into...but will not necessarily say that nobody could ever beat it or that it is optimized, but the likely hood would be that it is.

This new TAS is an almost 2 minute improvement on the previous one I made. The groundwork was all there already from the previous TAS so for many tricks I didn't need that many re-records. The game isn't very technical aside from some of the tricks so there are a lot of relatively simple parts.
Well, I hope this turns out well for you. Perhaps a suggestion..You might want to stick with the same project file so that you can at least demonstrate, via re-records, your effort put into this. I've redone one of my TASes for resubmission and doubled my re-records by just continuing to use the original inputs. It proves to any viewer that it wasn't just quickly ran through and could help out in judging to show that you made a good run at it. Good Luck!

I certainly lack the knowledge on the eccentricities of this game, especially since I've never heard of it, but I'm a bit hard on having such a low re-record count in relationship to such a high total movie length. I don't see anything but straight playing, besides the out of bounds (which I certainly appreciate). At least jumping was used in places to speed up the run. I would be interested in seeing a version where more effort was put into, it might be a surprise to see how much time could have been cut. The game is rather slow, and I can't prove otherwise that it isn't optimal. So, I'm voting "Meh" on entertainment.

Try not to be discouraged over your first TAS being suboptimal. Everyone starts somewhere. I'm sure given enough time and practice you can make a much more perfected run. :)
I second this. It was a rocky start for me as well. I'm going to be the opposition here and vote Meh, because there are times where the game play is interesting to watch...but I am not going to say that I believe this is optimal. There are many spots where I believe like EZGames69 where there are places to squeeze through, and I've seen slowing down used in places where it just doesn't seem to be the only option. Honestly, I think this would be an excellent TAS...if highly optimized. Please keep up the progress. Remember, the percentage of re-records says a lot about how much work was put into a TAS. Look at this: http://tasvideos.org/4536S.html (2870319 re-records).

Your approach makes more sense. Since you are building up on both sides, you have the option to get a tetris when a long piece is available. This prevents the delaying for RNG purposes. The low re-record count does say something for the effort put into this. My experiences...the more effort you put, you will eventually start seeing other possibilities and gain experience for future work.

I had to watch this a few times to get the information I needed. I see your point EZ...this could be a delay in releasing of the piece, but as you say...I don't know the game either. But I also see that it could be RNG manipulation. The submission text doesn't really say anything either about this goal. If this is fastest completion, then it does looks fast. The piece drops are instantaneous, so stacking them isn't necessary; however, the build up of pieces beyond 4 layers seems to make it un-optimized. Its hard to say if the delay of dropping would be better than just placing a piece down that wasn't moving towards the goal. idk...because of the uncertainties and lack of submission text...I have to vote meh.
