This effort doesn't seem to miss any optimizations, some places exist where you have to slow down...but its necessary to avoid the barrage of enemies. One thing that really bites about this games...it doesn't seem to be possible to skip the bonus time tally. :( Yes vote.

Oh my gosh! I was a pacman fan, until I bought this game for the SNES. I never could figure this game out and wrote it off as being a bad game. AGDQ 2014 featured this game and classified it in their block as an "Awful Game Done Quick". This only confirmed to me that this game sucked. Well, if there was only some way an encode can be provided...I would love to see how this is really supposed to be played. Abstaining vote for the moment.

I would have to say that this any% version is my preferred one of the two you have submitted. From what I can see, looks pretty good. Yes vote.

I'm a little puzzled. Doesn't 100% here sound like trying to get all the coins in mario? If so, I like the any% much better. Abstaining vote.

There really isn't much to see here, it almost seems like watching an Arcade Machine boot up; however, I can certainly appreciate the knowledge behind making a TAS to trigger the end game credits. Leaning towards meh, but the technical pushes me to a Yes vote.

I have to say that this amused me a bit...with the parts of fighting. From what I can tell, the green enemy guys don't even get a chance to take a swing. It looks rather silly to just sit there and take a beating after threatening our hero not to go any further. LOL Yes vote.

I'm all about games where there is flexibility in different strats, and this one definitely captures my attention. The fact that you use 2 players makes it even more flexible with capabilities for completing faster. As some on this site have discerned, I'm a big fan of high rerecord counts. This doesn't always mean it is optimized, but it certain means you put the effort into it. In fact, this much re-recording shows and makes for a quick and entertaining TAS. It appears to be well done. Yes vote.

Commodore 64 = Love Funny, I never remember seeing this game in any advertisements of my Compute's Gazette Magazine. When I saw the word "Rat" I immediately thought of "Radar Rat Race". Planning on doing a TAS of that soon? Yes vote.

I abstained on voting until now...because there weren't any votes and I would have been the first to comment. My first impression was that it seemed to run without any loss of time, but because I didn't know this game...I wasn't sure. The positive voting has supported my original thoughts and I'm along with it. One other thing I see that is a positive is the ratio of re-records to the full length of the movie. Roughly 25% is a very good effort for a TAS. Yes vote.

I was about to make reference to this movie. Spike is right. First off, getting 1,2, or 3 lines is absolutely not the fastest way to rack up points. Second, you didn't stack the center up to the top so that you can land pieces even faster. Sorry for the rude welcome, but this type of submission is no different than watching a really good human run. No vote.

The fact that there’s no way to make the screen move faster makes me feel like this run is extremely trivial. Maybe the bonus stages (one where balloons come out from tubes) could make this non trivial enough to be acceptable, but as far as being entertaining, it’s getting a no vote from me.
I'm with EZ. The autoscrollers are mostly boring, but that's just the game; however, the part that stood out to me was the bonus rounds. To me, entertainment would have been much higher if the ballons were collected as soon as they came out the tubes. In some cases, sitting around waiting for a balloon is not good enough when you could have "Charged" that tube in order to keep your speed to make it to another. I can see that not all cases could have been perfect, but some seemed to be sloppy at collection. Are the balloons on a timer? If so...then collecting the last one is the most important. If they are not, then minimizing the time they come out the tubes is crucial. Entertainment: Meh vote Optimization: Meh vote.

Ok...I have to say that your abilities for TASing are getting better. I'm still reluctant to call this TAS super optimized, since the rerecord count is still low agianst the length of your movie. Some questions: 1. This game doesn't seem to be heavy on lag, but I'm certain that lag does exist. Was there an effort to eliminate as much lag as possible? 2. Bonus rounds: I normally see games where skipping segments for points is necessary to save time. I take it that the bonus rounds cannot be skipped by either take a death or missing a certain amount of shots? However, I did laugh a few times in some places. The speed at which people died in the bonus rounds was particularly humorous to me. Additionally, the interaction of two players during down time was a tiny bit creative and kept me watching. Yes vote.

jmosx36 ... I've shared your frustration in the past, thinking that cuts aren't possible. I'm sorry to point out, but with 1275 re-records and amount of time for this length movie, it doesn't seem that enough effort was placed into experimentation. With many games, there are a large number of methods to choose from on how to manipulate RNG. I know off one particular game where 1 in 16 frames showed a positive effect to my inputs. It just may require more time to find out how to beat those WR segments. Normally, to find cuts that blow away WR times, it takes months and years. So don't be discouraged; however, try to spend an extra amount of time. There is nothing more satisfying than finding those hidden frames. Abstaining from voting.

I'm in the opinion that if a game repeats and no level of difficultly occurs, then this is a complete run. In fact, I believe that Vault was brought in to the mix so that situations like this can be addressed. On a side note, my favorite systems were the Commodore computers (64 and Vic-20) and the Colecovision. Most of the games didn't play in the same fashion as we have today, where an ending is clearly identified. Sadly, I never purchased DK as a child. But, I'm voting yes for creativity in RNG manipulation to produce what seems to be an unbeatable time. Edit: I was also surprised to see a conveyor belt level for the C-64. I remember seeing something like that, but wasn't sure what system it came from. I wonder if I saw it on the version that Adam released.

Man, this version almost reminds me of a Commodore Vic-20. With that long load, it makes me thing you were loading the game on tape. LOL And I have to agree with EZ...why are they making a big show of Mario's booty definition?
