How do you shell jump? I can never seem to get the timing down. Also, how do you do any other shell related tricks that you might feel like sharing

I am trying to do a flashy TAS of super mario world, But I am having trouble finding good tutorials and specific resources to do cool tricks. Besides this website theres a few youtube videos but really not much at all. How did people learn to tas mario and make it look so flashy? are there websites and sources that people can direct me to?
