I came across a couple of YouTube videos showing glitches where Link is able to obtain a few items (including ones from the outside world) around the beginning of the game. This includes a hook-shot, a magic hammer, even a Titan's mitt. Some are done using the Magic Mirror and ramming techniques at a certain point of an area.

Did you mean "Items: 100%" including all 13 container hearts? That is the next thing I'd like to see. :)

LOL, does this mean every TAS has to be done with all those latest glitching techniques?! =))

I've been using Daemon Lite for this run. I don't actually think PCSX supports unmounted ISO's (just something called PSX-EXEs).
Okay, I see the point. ePSXe can run unmounted images, but doesn't have TAS features. Thanx! :)

You chose not to recruit Mukumuku and not help Nanami break out of prison from the other side of town. Does that save frames? Because I hope so.

Guys, what's the problem with running the ISO on the emulator instead of mounting it using DEMON Tools?! =/

It would be interesting if you could come up with some sort of storyline with all the answers. Like for instance, the player could start off by saying hello to Alex, asking him about his family, then get madder and madder at him.
Hey, good advice!

I did not notice any weak points of Luca, however, 18 people using Lightning runes should make short work of him. BUT, it's no problem to Google your way into determining if there are weak points.

The fight with luca blight should be the harder one of this run, I though. Does Lucas have a any weakness against some specifics runes or any ability?

As I said before, it might benefit if you recruit Futch and Humphrey earlier in the game using the glitch at the Muse-Matilda border. Those two will definitely give you a mission as you bring in some recruits. One of Futch's best friends assumed that there was such thing as a real dragon and decide to look for it; getting lost in the process. Futch and Humphrey (both above level 30) travels north to an area where a strange bird (Harpy) awaits. That and Futch's best friend who appears to be trapped. For Jowy, Nanami, and yourself at a low level - defeating this boss (especially the beginning) can be a pain in the ass! I noticed that Humphrey looks better in the front row than in the back. He cannot attack from the back row according to his size (S). But not only he can attack from the front, he can also provide an impressive amount of defense from most of Harpy's attacks - and at times, the worst. My strategy one time was to switch formation simply where Humphrey was in the front row and one of my low-level guys standing right behind him in the back. That way, if Futch and three others was killed in a single battle, that would leave Humphrey proudly defending me. After the battle, Humphrey gets some experience, but the low-level person right behind him instantly gets into level 30 (and that will depend on who all was alive after the battle was over).

Next part: meet nanami, get the medium pots in Ryu house, defeat some highlander, get back to Mercenary Camp, scrolling some text, recruit people and maybe visit pilika
Another strategy if it ever comes down to it - well, in the long run. I was thinking about the mission where Luca plots an overnight raid on North Window (Your Castle) but gets surprised. Before I even got to that point, I felt the strong urge to make sure at least 18 of my fighting-related recruits are above level 30 and each have a Lightning rune. This way, they can each use an MP LV3 spell known as Bolt of Wrath - while some might even use an MP LV4 "Thor Shot" which does the most damage. Luca on the other hand absorbs only half the damage, but several LV3 and LV4 Lightning rune spells can take him down quicker. Trust me, because I done this several times. What's challenging for this strategy done TAS-style is simply straight luck manipulation!

Oh, and make sure you're playing a genuine game of Rockman. It makes sense!

...and he's got a good point there.

I just realized something. When entering the building, would it be faster to crawl through the lower air duct instead of the second floor air duct? It would put you on the bottom floor, save a chaff grenade, and I'm sure that you don't have to skip a cutscene since it doesn't play if you took the bottom air duct inside.

Some plugins, including video, make the gameplay seem too pixelated and not as clear-looking. To answer your question, my own opinion is that it doesn't seem like a big deal. But for other users who may experience wrong settings in each part of the emulator, that could concern me a tad bit.

Why can't we take a few frames to get all three cardboard boxes and use them for warps?! Box A for the nuclear disposal facility, box B for warhead storage, and C for the snow field by the entrance to the underground base? If we do this, how many more frames can we pull?

The one thing that gets me is that I have a ton of plugins for sound, video, BIOS, even virtual disks. But certain plugins function differently while some may not work right. Should we have a rule where we have plugins recommended for each aspect of the emulator so that everybody can start playing? I thought things would speed up that way.

Okay, I am conducting numerous tests to see how fast I can beat the game, SDA style, without TAS'ing it.

...and I hope there is an emulator that has a "memory-watch" feature (compared to FCEU) because perhaps PSX games may have more memory addresses than an NES ROM.

I've fiddled a bit with this, but I'm not sure on how critical hits work. I got it to go on my first hit against Actress, but I can't get it to go again. I need it with that fight, because 4 critical 10 damage hits is better then 6 7 damage hits.

Apologies since I was away from my home computer. I'm at almost 3 hours in-game. One reason the game can be so difficult is because if you needed HP recovery, it is strictly limited to parasite energy and medicines.

If Willow seems a little too boring, I might decide to shift out of NES altogether and see what it takes to beat PlayStation games starting with this. Now anyway... This game begins with a night at the opera in New York City where a female cop (Aya) notices a human on stage (Eve/Melissa) evolve into a monster and controlling other people without even touching them. From there on, Aya spends six days investigating the case and restoring the city as much as possible. Aya must eliminate Eve and even snap out of such useless scientific information that Eve always gives her. There are at least two ways of TAS'ing this game: either aiming for fastest in-game time* or aiming for fastest time using TAS-related tools. I kept track of my in-game time as I been playing along. I think I'm at about 1h 30m going into Day 5: Evolution. If push come to shove, I might play the game again where in-game time is suitable for submission to Speed Demos Archive. * The in-game clock can be seen by accessing the menu using triangle and it sits at the upper-right-hand side.

You guys may need the chaff grenades for one of the communication towers since it has 1 to 4 gun-cameras. I would like to know how many frames it takes for Snake to throw the chaff grenade, explode, run its effects, and fade. The moment that the jamming effects fade, the "ding" sound and the radar comes back up.

Another thing to look at: Snake depends on Diazepam to make sure he gets a better aim with a sniper rifle; maybe even the Stinger. Would TAS'ing be the only "medicine" that Snake can easily get without a prescription? What do you guys believe?!!

And even though it may look 3-D'ish, it is still able to keep up with Snake's every move. And with frame advance, he should have no problem having a clear shot of defeating Sniper Wolf and MG-Rex.

And that is why I said "Recruits: 100%" :-P

Now, if there was a fastest-time aim, that means getting only the recruits well-suitable for defeating the Beast Rune at L'Renouille and nothing but survival. If I predict, game could be beat in 4 to 6 hours.

I read somewhere that if you recruited every single ally from the game, you might have a better chance for a nice ending. This means talking to a lot of people, even some that will force you to run certain errands for them. If there is such thing as recruiting everyone to join your group (without missing one) and beating the game, how long can it take? Possibly hours. Oh, and sometimes the hero can get a head start on quick-leveling up to 40, once he gets settled in Viktor's Mercenary Fortress. From there, he should be able to break through the Muse-Matilda border and defeat a hard boss for Futch and Humphrey. After that, maybe he can continue his adventure starting with Toto village burned down. Whether minimal (fastest time) or 100%, I am sure there is a lot to talk about!

For Windows Vista or even 7, I always close the other windows (even Explorer-related) when I run FCEU(X). And to ensure it behaves, I go into Task Manager and set priority to "Above Normal". How many of you ever tried that?
