Yeah, after I saw your drive, I have to agree. But it's too bad that Arnie can only shoot forward. And that sux, because in the actual movie I saw, yeah, Arnie and his crew did some firing toward the sides and the back. I think Acclaim/Interplay made a mistake there.

Lower routes SHOULD be faster because you spend more time going full speed and less time slowing down to move up and down.

I finally found a good-working clean ROM of this game. I noticed that Fester can run faster in make believe 3-D hallways than on foot. But to ensure a grip on what needs to be done, I would like to manipulate enough luck into getting Fester's gun to LV 8 (as quick as possible) before I proceed with the whole run.

I need to re-examine the driving section to see where I lost so many frames to lag and see what I can do to fix it.
I thought that looked as well-optimized as mine, if not, a few frames faster. We ask the following question: Is it faster to take the upper routes (my WIP) or the lower routes (yours)? Another thing I saw, you grabbed a few soylent sodas while driving - I already told everyone there were about 2 or three hidden ones at the beginning of... what I call now... Lunchbox city!!! Because think about it, doesn't those buildings in Mars (after the driving stage) look like lunch boxes?!! Grab the two Soylent sodas after the driving stage and you should recover that way while saving some time.

966 frames ahead after the factory--16 seconds now.
Not to ask, but I was wondering if you been peeking at this here and there? Even if you're not completely done with the game, I still know the rest of the optimized techniques beyond the driving stage (timing, firing, jumping). Your WIP + my input beyond the driving stage can be at least 16 seconds faster now than it used to. I know that for our work and everyone else's contributions, we can still look at 5'05 or even try to break the 5 minutes. We just have to re-play the game again and use all we know just to get to that point. If push come to shove, I might re-enter this project and make final adjustments before I consider things done from my side. There's no telling how deeper things will go beyond under 5 minutes. But after I saw your WIP, I think we can simply take this game like a sheet of paper and just run it down the shredder.

Okie-doke! This means both of you earned the respect of a lot of people here and of course mine. This also means that this is a message being clearly sent to the other Zelda fans meaning that this run will be in the record books for a while! I hope this lasts more than a year after it gets published. Best of luck beyond this point. =) $.X

Did Link have enough life (3 units) to at least damage-boost off one of those four flames in the end? That's what Phil/Bax once done in the first-quest TAS I once saw =)

I have seen more program error abuses in this run than any other Zelda run I've seen, definitely a yes!

Yeah, and I knew that I had 2.0.2 - that's what it said in my screenshot. I'll try that, thank you

Sorry it took long to respond after my computer was locked by Google Chrome. I attempted to upload pix under that browser and it hung too long. So, this was how the movie was prepared after I obtained FCEUX, the rom, and the movie... selecting the movie result after selecting the movie In other words, the movie play dialog was still blank and the emulator knew that the movie was invalid -- despite that it does play fm2's regardless. Then the next thing I was thinking about was the wrong ROM of LoZ. I'll think of something, until then, this is an isolated situation.

The movie won't open. I even checked out the FAQ's and tried converting. Guys, I don't want to know how an FM2 file works, I just want to know how to "fix" it so it can play like it's supposed to! I already got the right version of FCEUX, now I just need the real deal. Understood?!

Have we already tried speed-boosting (jumping) through MB after taking out the glass container? Or maybe as at least an entertainment part? Unless MB is a steel wall that Samus can't fly past through, this is another thing to look at.

I understand what you're saying, but money becomes an issue if things go bad or if certain things did not meet consumer demands. That should be what customers are for.

My last two cents on this topic that was somehow dug up after sitting in dust... It is no big deal to re-host full-length 60 fps speedruns on most storage-based sites outside the BitTorrent protocol and outside this site. And I am deeply sure that ISP's are doing everything they can to put limits on any high-speed connections that they know we work real hard for and actually pay quite a bit for. Some of us pay a lot of money for bandwidth and data traffic and we still get hosed with such problems ranging from firewalls, to proxies, to port-forwarding, to infamous NAT error messages - WTF?! Does that look simple to any of you? To me, a DSL connection (at the least) and the highest down and up rates I can get, is all it should take! Not everyone wants to get too geeky with a bunch of bittorrent crap that I am deeply sure NOBODY[/color] wants to know or even hear about! The Internet should be known for straight-up simplicity, and so are the most common protocols that stand behind it. But it's only the dumbest people in this world that would defame such simplicity and make us feel bad. Personally, I think that is unfair. "We work hard for the best, we deserve the best." And trust me when I say that.

As with all the other SM runs between you and hero of the day, I'm just going to vote YES so that the judges can collect the info and start trying to publish and encode. Now how's that for emphasis?! >:) I still don't have the right rom's and versions of snes9x to play the input movie, so hopefully a good AVI would show me the way. =)

I kinda like the latest LoZ publications the way they are. Unless you're looking to go for 100% stuff with dependency of game restarts and other tactics, maybe I'm interested. The thing is that if you do use restart sequences, at least you won't ever see a "Game Over!" Ask Phil and watch one of his LoZ publications, and you'll know. =)

The one thing that made me laugh was in the beginning when Samus used her bullets to slide-in and type the "self-destruct sequence activated, evacuate colony immediately" message, hero of the day did that, lol..

I just want to see it published and encoded before I give my vote. I know you defeated JXQ's 100% record. BTW, did you use them glitch methods from the run that you and hero of the day once did? Or does this include another mother brain battle?

You did quite well - at least publish it so it can last a while before it gets worked on again!

Hey, if you said you can defeat the cement factory boss using guns to his head, don't you think you would be sacrificing too many frames to even get the gun? I have one more thing that I never tried before. On the driving stage, I always held down the forward (right) key. When you get there, try tapping it and see if that could speed things up a little bit. I still know how to maneuver through the narrow spots toward the end of each racing segment (see my video).

Well, this is worth a try. Emulator: 0.98.15-rerecording http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/874685609/Tecmo%20Bowl%20%28U%29.fcm And this is my favorite frame out of that movie... As you watch the movie, notice how the game severely goes overberserk almost everytime the invisble team scores a touchdown. Wait up to 10 seconds after the end of regulation to see the ending movie. It's boring, though.
- Aim for maximum score (99) - Shown as a demonstration - Program error abuse: moderate to extreme - Contains speed/entertertainment tradeoffs - Uses a level/special password
A few parts of my WIP include dancing around my end zone to get Chicago's defense' attention. Others include use of sneak plays to get touchdowns before the football is even hiked!

I thought I went autofire-A itself to do that. But punching helps.

BTW, did you manage to display Arnie floating in the air after coming out of the Subway X-Ray?! If you got that, perfect! That's my favorite glitch I've seen and done! It takes autofire-A while jumping around the exact area of where the x-ray glass will break, it may also take luck manipulation (a few extra re-records) to do that. I don't know if Arnie can do multiple punches while jumping around there, but it could help. Abusing programming errors like that is your foot in the door toward a successful TAS!
