I cancel here. I did submit a version 3, which is a cleanup of version 2 I hope. I beated my previous record by about 4 seconds.

Of course, once the laser is fired, Richter immediately jumps. I am sure that was the way the game was programmed to start off with. I had no choice but to miss the shot, but I was able to jump a little bit just to score about 4 to 8 hits on him when he was coming down. It is possible to beat the last boss as quick as possible, but firing to make him jump is the only strategy for Quaid. It's been impossible to fool with the memory to where Richter would neither jump nor fire one of his shots where Quaid can quickly defeat him. If I do a version 3, I'll try to cut the run by 4 to 8 seconds. Plus I will see if I can save time by firing the laser a few frames before Quaid meets Richter. But for that, of course, a challenge within a challenge. Big thanx!

I did watch this run as a matter of fact. I would say more speed than entertainment on this one? Was there really any dancing, or would that kill time?

I'm looking to try to get a jump from a trash can to a second-floor part of a building from above (before the glass building where blue cops are held), it's been impossible so far. However, I don't think any other enemies would buzz around there; the only thing I would trust to get further up would be gunshots from a car. The thing is how long should I wait for a car to even come by and help Quaid try to get up there, just to avoid going through blue cops? Taking some damage to save time? Doing the unexpected? Yes, it takes time. I like your idea, darkkobold, but I'd say that would indeed be a challenge within a challenge.

As much as I have seen and played MM and MMX series, things got more confusing when they started creating a Maverick character, which threw me a little off guard.

Yeah, the game overall sucked quite a bit because of some lagging and the controls being unresponsive. Does this mean my run sux, too? =(

In Mega Man X-3, Dr. Doppler called X a "Maverick" hunter. I thought that would ring a bell or two.

I am sure that "movies" and "clips" would have deeper meanings than just a "video". If push come to shove, I might need to knock down the first line of the bottom box 1 point lower so "movie" can fit. Let me take a break for a moment, GFX are fun, lol...

Maverick's black boxes at 75% opacity, making the background dark enough to maintain text readability: ...and then 100% opacity, to ensure highest level of readability, but making Maverick look like he's in a black swamp and no one can see his legs! ~gasps~ =O The opacity of these boxes will be one thing to find in a PSD, of course it can be customized to one heart's content! It's the judges that call all the shots 'round here. Bisqwit: depending on length of the encoder's screen name (like Mpeg_Man_XXX or something like that), I had to stretch the upper-right box toward his head to give enough room. Nothing else, I can fit all the titles in the bottom box, I just have to move the three lines up a little bit. Thanx for helping me out, you and the people. =)

Okay, I re-did my first original (maverick). On Photoshop, I resized to 256x224 and inserted 2 solid black rectangular shapes, then setting the opacity of both to as high as 75%. Perhaps 80% or higher might make the text more readable but the boxes would be too dark?

Bisqwit always goes for the helmet, lol... I'm guessing it is the recent artwork where feminine-shaped bodies were among the modern Mega Man X and it made a few of us think differently. I'm lost for words on that one... Okay, I'll do a little bit of rebuilding and try to make a few fonts more readable. =)

Okay, I have so far came up with a few PSD's of logos, where they go at the beginning of each encoded video like the others. Here's what I got, and more to come soon... Mega Man X (maverick) Mega Man X (Zero) The dimensions above are 256x 240 pixels, which I assume is often used when encoding most NES and probably SNES runs. In the future, I might decide to come up with a little Halo, Syphon Filter, maybe World of Warcraft, and definitely Samus Aran! I take limited requests, though, so please don't rush me. =)

Last night, I set a time of 8:21. I'll post a WIP of this one (within the next 3 hours). This also includes an improved version of dancing to the music and the gunshots of the apartment in stage 1.

Okay, after this thread has been sitting in dust for 4 years, I resurrect it for one cause: to challenge this game and try to get within 8:00 like EvilHeart did. But that can be tough. One thing I clearly noticed going into the Subway train stage was that using rapidfire-B (while in the air) made Quaid look like E. Honda (street fighter) doing a hundred-hand slap. It could be a glitch, but I been using that to my advantage! It is true that I was able to finish off the gray soldiers within a split second using this method. Already I am on stage 4. I'll test-play through this game to see how long it might take, then I might do it again to try to set a reasonable record. 1st WIP coming soon. =)
