Okay, I'll leave the TAS'ing of this game to someone else here. Of course, it is still very hard for me to plan out the best routes through each planet, plan out more techniques and strategies to get through the game quickly, and even manipulating luck. My attempt is 1:19:18.83, but I predict that anybody's next run could be at least 4 minutes faster. I tried, sorry.

It looks like I controlled Bartman to where he missed the secret opening into the pyramid and ran into a brick. But I am deeply sure that was the only thing I remember running into. I only used Bartman in China and Egypt. Bartman power-ups are tougher to find elsewhere. Nothing else, I might use a TAS movie editor to fix the pyramid problem. But that was one good reason why my latest TAS of this game is unofficial. Another reason was that I wasted frames by hanging on a latter during a run through Hollywood - Soundstage 1 (pirate ship). I think we can make this a little bit smoother and slightly quicker, but with a breakthrough of over half of a minute, it's getting closer to near-perfect. =)
Is there a way to somehow manipulate a bit more ammo or take a hit somewhere to conserve ammo to speed that up?
Obviously, so far I have not discovered any other way to conserve limited ammunition per sets of 10. And sometimes I have to waste ammo just so that another ammo bag can drop; to get it, reload, and do another wave of unanswered rapid-fire. It does take manipulation to determine how ammo is best used to defeat bosses/enemies in this matter.

Re-did my TAS of this game again. This time, it is 33 seconds faster than my previous! And big thanx to user silverjazz for helping me find a clean ROM, cause I actually used that to re-do this TAS for superior improvement! The record now is 10:14.27 http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1536506207/simpsons-bart-v-the-world-unofficial-tas-v2-symbolic-X.fcm Note that in the 3rd section of Hollywood/Soundstage 2 (where the "RIP" plates are at), I took a shortcut that saved much time. I was slightly slower in the Hollywood boss battle simply because I was limited with ammunition this time, but it was still improvement with a capital "I"! Also, I did a little bit of dancing in the boss battles in China and Egypt. =P I did slightly better avoiding Krusty junk, but it shouldn't make a big deal if I collect too many in Hollywood. Besides, it's all about defeating the final boss and stopping the movie at that point to see the ending; it shouldn't matter anyway. Video producer: At the ending, you can press "A" to read through Krusty's final message faster. On the other hand, the messages can switch through by itself but it will be slower. My recommendation would be to leave the controller alone so it can cycle through the final message itself, show Acclaim logo, the title screen, and then the rolling credits. Stop recording after the credit roll is complete. There should be no problem. =) I may submit this movie soon as long as the game still doesn't seem too boring. I'm feeling a little luckier now. =)

Guys, I found on YouTube that there was a walkthrough of this game being broadcasted: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tTMyfzNZi2Y http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hsufNHz_wGE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y3qTKHwIJW4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZzazB0YceFs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v3zLUlgh-Go This is strictly not a speedrun, but this would give us the idea of what to do and what steps we need to take to get through this game quickly. It's a 5-part series and bandwidth-intensive, but only one of you will have the nerves of steel to do a perfect or near-perfect TAS of GI Joe. =) My best recommendation is to learn the game first before getting stuck in the middle of nowhere. Good luck to the ultimate TAS'er that will make history.

You're saying to select "Pass Word Game" and enter either code on that? I'll think about it. But my first WIP was clearly played without any code input, and the common tool-assists (slow-downs, savestates) are being used more than a video gamer can stand. Thanx for advice. =)

Hopefully there are good reasons why most torrent client programs are blacklisted. A few other private trackers (including wrestling ones) are doing the same. I been a huge uTorrent fan and that gives me fewer problems than Azureus.

For an FCM that lasts an hour and 20 minutes using AVIzlib, I have the raw AVI where file size was 2.21GB. =/ I haven't got to the NES_encoding.bat process yet, but I hope that can adjust the bitrates to make it as good as the speedruns shared on the torrent tracker.

Okay, I been reading more about converting an FCM movie to an AVI, and it told me to use AVIZlib codec to record it. However, I'm not sure if the codec has the right settings. So far, mine is: Video Format (24-bit only): RGB 24 Compress Mode: Hi Speed Null Frame: unchecked PNG filter: unchecked Multi Thread: unchecked Is my settings correct? What are yall's recommendation for this part?

I stayed up all night playing the bejesus out of this game. I gotta tell ya, there may be a few things that suck about this game... Monster vs. Monster - any battle against a monster throws in a time limit. Basically, if you've got the enemy where you want it and about to make your last move, time runs out and you return to the planet map. That does waste frames! If you do battle enemies, get rid of them as quick as possible! Things shoot at you in all directions! But ducking down as Godzilla and using it's tail-whip move gets rid of 75% of them and they shouldn't hurt you. And here is my first WIP - 1:19:18.83

It does take a lot of practice; best of luck! =) And guys, if we compare this to C3 Dracula's Curse, both of these games let players "pick their own routes" that would lead to the other side. $/X

The ice stages, both of them, were pretty tough for me as well. Thanx to the tool-assists, the game isn't so tough after all. lol

Yeah, I know there were a lot of annoying things and that there were even times where Bart would not climb in the Sphinx or the Valley of the Kings levels in Egypt, but I had a good run through this one. I'll be glad to try my luck in another game! =) Because I gotta admit, lol, even with the "Bartman" suit, Bart is still full of shit in 8-bit Nintendo. He only looks a lot better in real animation. Call this the underground for now because I wasn't planning on submitting this movie anyway. But if anyone out there wants to challenge this game, just remember: the time to beat so far is still 10:47.42. =)

This would help a pretty good bit just in case if BitTorrent users can't connect well within bisqwit.iki.fi's tracker. The only thing that can be done is RAR'ing the video at 100MB a piece and uploading it to megaupload/rapidshare. What are the advantages and disadvantages of hosting TAS videos with these two sites? I know inactivity and "download-limits" are definitely two known disadvantages and what not.

You (Godzilla) and a character that would be a total waste of frames if used (Mothra) are placed on stage boards consisted of hexagon platforms. There are additional monsters placed on the opposite sides of the stage. Godzilla's goal is to conquer every planet based on its "solar system" appearance at the beginning of the game. I did play this game and did beat it a few times before I started re-playing this game as a ROM. How challenging could it be to make a good TAS out of this one? First thing I've planned out to do in each stage is to simply kill Mothra before advancing the main character (Godzilla) through the fields. Also, there are certain platforms where there will be giant rocks in the way, so I guess I have to plan out some pretty good routes while avoiding the rock areas. I look forward to beating this game again within a faster time. Too bad Godzilla never went to planet Zebus; I bet Samus would be waiting for him. =P Godzilla vs. Metroid to be exact.

The best purpose of doing a TAS through this game is simply Tournament Mode while spending little time selecting your wrestler and entering your name. Push the up button to select Hulk Hogan. The gameplay sux quite a bit because the computer does not target you as much and wanders around the ring like a dog. But once he does attack you, damage will be significant. Luck manipulation will be the key of getting through all wrestlers in Tournament mode quickly. Are you tough and strong enough to take on this game?!

I found out that in round 2, someone else starts spinning the wheel. But that is also another way to give up frames.

Okay, if interested, this can be an easy speedrun if you ask me. But this will involve a few basic aspects of the game. This will test the player based on: - Luck manipulation - Letter input - Spinning the wheel with the lowest strength possible while avoiding "bankruptcy" and "losing a turn" (wedges) - but not using the wheel too many times - Avoiding the need to have Vanna White move around the stage during the game, as much as possible. Understand that Vanna White only looks good on normal TV. She looks extremely horrible in 8-bit Nintendo and will be the mastermind behind wasting frames in your speed run! If you still want to solve the puzzle but want to keep the 8-bit Vanna standing in one spot at the same time, try to select letters that are not found in the puzzle unless you have to. Don't even select "R-S-T-L-N-E" in the final round! To say the least, try to plan out the strategy that would make a "T-A-S" of "W-o-F" a perfect one! And pray for success beyond that. =)

Okay, so far, it is compatible with ffdshow, but I can't get crap out of H264. There's already Google results out there that explain about the errors spitted out when trying to render (encoding) video projects into AVI. I do end up with a big file size (170~320 MB) on a 12 minute movie. Most videos here are encoded with H264 video and mpga audio codecs. For some reason, they don't work well with VMS. It's starting to suck, however, I will find ways of working around it! There has to be a way.

It's been easy for me to use lately. But I'll try to prepare a tutorial about this tonight. Until then, this is the home page of the Vegas suite including VMS. This does support AVIzlib and FFDShow codecs btw. http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/products/vegasfamily.asp

Yes to that. I'll keep researching.
