Okay, another plan because I think your pathway straight to the Gold Statue made more sense than getting the sword from Vohnkar. My next goal would be to go straight to the Gold Statue chest, use death to go back to Dew, go into Bogarda's cave to get the Battle Sword, and then manipulate random encounters to where Willow can get 150 ex. as quick as possible - of course, some enemies in the cave can give away 20 ex. a piece so leveling up shouldn't take too long. Finally, pin Bogarda against the wall for 700 more ex. Great minds think alike, eh?! :) I'll give it a shot soon but not now-now.

I'm aware of that, too. But if your goal is to try to be as minimal as possible when tearing through the game, you have to skip that. Getting the ring may help, but it requires more walking distance. I'm sure it's in Bogarda's cave. BTW, I already used information from that exact same website for the drafts and WIP's I came up with.

Hmm, this submission didn't last very long. Good luck optimizing for now and I can't wait to see the new one. :)

Not everyone, just anyone. I don't care who disregards, it's beyond the way I see things. Understood! :)

Those that know everything about the game inside-out and spends countless hours and re-records playing this game more and comparing to others. Some players do show great leadership, common sense, and hard work for this game - and that's what I do respect the most. I consider Cpadolf and hero of the day my top 2 SM professionals, but anyone else could see my opinion differently.

I'll have to agree with all the right reasons that mmbossman explained previously, about the fact that there are too many SM runs being published. It does create an overwhelming sense of confusion on my part and it's hard for me to keep track of certain restrictions in every TAS attempt. No matter what restrictions or handicaps that Samus is placed on, all runs lead to one thing: the same TAS techniques. Samus is not meant to have so many restrictions or even to streak through the game naked. Leave it to the professionals, who can determine what does make common sense in games like this. My vote: not "Yes" nor "Meh."

Playaround, play-through... I thought it would be the same thing. As I said in my description, it is mandatory for Willow to be on a minimum level of 13 (39,350 ex) to change Fin Raziel back to human and to get the ability to use the Magic cane effectively against Bavmorda. It's likely how the game was programmed to try to stay with the movie - but that proves why I was grinding. I needed to get prepared so I won't have trouble leveling up by the time I meet up with Gen. Kael. Perhaps Emptyeye over at SDA did the same thing by using a different method of grinding when he had this attempt, but for adjusting Willow's level to defeat Bavmorda, he does say the same thing...
1:01:11- To those who verified this run, I apologize for the next 22 minutes and 57 seconds. Everyone else will want to skip ahead to about 1:24:08 in the run; I'm doing nothing but building levels until then.
1:26:55- I need to be Level 13 to uncurse Fin Raziel. This also powers up the Cane, making it possible to defeat Bavmorda. Although, in a non-speedrunning context, it's fun to come here before reaching Level 13 and just turn her from animal to animal.

You may be right about that, but Willow's STR is lower on LV 1 than LV 2 so it could take longer. We sacrifice the number of frames between "visiting with Vohnkar" vs. "the duel against Bogarda on LV 1." To say the least, though, Willow can increase 3 levels if he chooses to have at least 10 ex on LV 1 because as I said before, Bogarda awards 700 ex.

Thanks again, but I am concentrating on trying to get this thing published. I mean, I may not work on this again for another few months - and if I do, myself and everyone else should already know how to perform all the existing techniques I listed above. Bisqwit: I replied to your P/M, if you didn't get it already... :)

That will take a lot of practice then. I might just come up with another run, but there's hardly anyone looking to come up with one, too. I'll remember this if I ever want to try it again. I understand what you got, but it is a strategic concern because Willow has not leveled up to 2 yet and he only has 24 hp on him. He has to be armed with something if he wants to progress through the game. How did luck and strategy manipulation go?

For that my guess is ccfreak2k and Raiscan...?! I could be wrong, though. I can't always keep track of what everybody does within a time period. ;/

It's questionable that this would help, but I gave a yes vote - only on technical terms. Entertainment was a little shook up.

I mentioned those encoders because I know they do an excellent job handling the A/V quality of most of the TAS'es I have seen for so many other games. Usually, any of those four would more likely be on the call of duty when processing, pubishing, encoding AVI's, ect. Plus, they know the encoder guidelines like the back of their hands so that AVI-making is accurate and precise. Back to topic... :)

Okay, now I present a challenge. How long will it take to have items:100% (all weapons, shields, magic spells, and treasure chests), aim for maximum score (99,990 exp), and beat the whole game?! Of course, it will take more time to play around with white ghosts to say the least. The question is, would all this be acceptable? Or would this be more boring?! I'm just coming up with ideas on ways of playing this game.

OK! Ha, I was a little confused. I've played a lot of other RPG's lately so it's hard to keep track of everything sometimes. =))

Ok, thank you. :) Notice in my Dr. Mario intro and outro logos that the encoder name was not placed in. If you want a Dr. Mario logo video with your encoder's name on it, I'll only accept P/M's about that. I'll hook you up with the temporary links to your custom logo videos and you can do whatever you please. If you're more advanced, feel free to take what I already posted and have fun, knock yourself out. :)

Huh? Out of curiosity, what other RPG are you referring to?!

Is it best to use cyan, yellow, and lime colors in a logo instead of red and blue?! I thought they'd stand out more.

When I was very young, I enjoyed the Noid on old-school Domino's Pizza TV ads. But the reason I would say yes here because I believe FODA optimized this run (both in speed and entertainment) to the max and may not be optimized again for a while. :)

The link below contains AVI's that are used for logo placement at the beginning and the end of an emulator movie. It also contains Flash CS3/CS4 documents so advanced users can get the idea of what all I did to create the animations precisely. Read more about the latest version of Flash at Adobe's web site if you're not familiar with this program. http://rapidshare.com/files/239791535/dr_mario_logo.rar It's not that I am encouraging everyone to start using Flash, it's that I learned a lot from this program years back when I was in college. :)

I removed my incomplete movie links because they were mostly related to my first draft and that they would point other players in the wrong direction. After days of work and optimizing, this a true movie and it's all you need: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/504776019/willow-p0rtal_0f_rain.fcm The public: I deeply apologize for all my recent disrespect. I know it's been pretty hard to push around and be pushed around mentally. But if that's one way of how people deal with everyday reality and responsibility, only the strongest would pull it off while the weak gets nowhere and I learned more than just that.

Okay, my run has been optimized. I stopped at 1'10:51.05 which seemed to be an improvement of 13 minutes and 19 seconds. I wanted to submit this under a new screen name! I begged! I asked as nice as I could! I even promised that I won't ask for another name change for a while! But things got out of hand between myself and at least one other administrator that was too lazy and didn't seem to do his job promptly. For that, it has came to my decision to not submit this to Workbench, remove all my WIP download links in this thread, step back for a while, and NOT ever come back under this exact same account again. I already gave the admin my notice to be completely deleted. I already asked nicely, now I demand. Thanks to all my viewers and other fellow regulars for sharing opinions, watching movies, trying out games, and being part of this great site. I'll return, but within the next few months or so, this isn't the time. Game over, I'm gone.

Here, an interesting "ending" logo. And then I need to take some time off. http://megaswf.com/view/b9bde9b532ed80d4359ec91f1c8c4e70.html
