I'm against the idea of using non-pixel-correct aspect ratios for recorded video in the first place - after all, most games rarely ever took aspect ratio into consideration. Looking at what the developers could have done is irrelevant. The point is, most developers did not, no matter if their game was for Super Game Boy or the SNES or whichever. Likewise, saying "it's on the SGB" is a cop-out. Is there any evidence to say that the developers game a damn about aspect ratio? Are there any games that, when loaded on the SGB, change their graphics to look correct on a TV? There are few Game Boy games with SGB features to begin with, and it seems to me that the majority of them only used the SGB to add colours and borders. There's only, as far as I know, one game that really changes things around for the SGB - Space Invaders - but that loads a SNES version of the game, not changes the graphics in the Game Boy one. If people want a "correct" aspect ratio that badly, they could always just stretch it themselves.

I think there IS a difference between playing through a game amazingly fast, and taking a game and proceeding to crush it into tiny pieces. Different categories for each; i.e, "this run beats the game in a minimal amount of time, following the intended path", and "this run features several minutes worth of the game trying to figure out what the fuck just happened as the player glitches through it" seems like a good option, in my opinion. Sure, some games have more than one category of run, with each one having differences, and this sounds a big pointless, but when several runs each have huge differences in terms of speed and entertainment. (Ignore this next part, if you don't want to hear my crazed ramblings.) For example... the last SM run I saw, (which was a while ago, actually, so correct me if I'm wrong about anything) was almost half-an-hour's worth of Samus travelling through a glitch world. Impressive? Very. Entertaining? Not for me. The run before that? It collected several items and beat the game really, really, fast. It was entertaining, as well. (Ends here.) So... in the end... some runs just quickly glitch to the end of a game, and I think that's great. I think that's awesome. But I like seeing runs that go through a game, defeat Ganon, save the princess, and get out of there before the planet explodes.

Doesn't the original Half-Life use a different engine to Source (Like GoldSrc?) I think it does...

I agree with this, basically - Air is a hack about "How much do you know about the quirks in SMB's engine?", and Extra Mario Bros. is a hack about "Find all the keys! Find the power-ups! Explore! All in Super Mario Bros.!". If someone made a hack that turned SMB into a strategy game, and someone made an entertaining TAS of it, I'd say that should be seperate too.

The movies that'll be submitted will have to be up to the exact same standard of quality as the other TASes on the site. I don't see why you're bothered about entertainment; all movies are judged, so it's not like people will "yes" a movie that isn't entertaining in one way or another.

Personally, I'd like to see a, well, "Tool Assisted Full-Play" category on the site. It sounds like a good idea. Besides, it's not like it hasn't been done before (in a way); Super Mario World, 64, Demo World? (And the SMAS glitch run, which I think did every level, too). Plus, the site has a few shmup TASes (although those might not be the best example for a full-play either).

I voted yes. It was fast, especially for a Puzzle Bobble-style game, and awesomely entertaining, too. (Dropping almost everything in a single shot? Hell yeah.)

The game isn't mostly menus, though; it's an RPG. The glitch they use just seems to require a lot of menu work. I haven't watched this TAS myself yet, though...

I'm using Windows 7 build 7000 (Just installed it, practically), and it seems that FCEUX doesn't work at ALL for me. It crashes instantly. I tried various compatibility settings, but it seems the only thing that works is plain old FCEU...

You do realize that the only arcade Fantasy Zone game is Fantasy Zone, right? The other two started on the SMS... not the other way around! :P The SMS FZII, though, was ported to the System-16 in Fantasy Zone II DX, if you don't know that already.

Seeing as there's a Gradius 3 TAS, a TAS of one of the Parodius games could be good. Especially if it uses two players, as I think the later (after Parodius Da) games support two players at once...

Personally, I kinda like the style. It does, however, as previously stated, need the screenshots brought back. Sorting would be nice, as Xkeeper said... ...and I agree with the proposed removal of the sidebar. On a sidenote, I bookmarked it. Yes, really.

I found these TASes of Rockman 2 hacks, which in my opinion are very much worth watching. The page is http://tasmkrc.hp.infoseek.co.jp/rockman.html. In particular, the Rockman: No Constancy (ロックマン NC) one is awesome, and according to a guy I know it's "TASvideos quality", although I know this site does not accept most ROM hacks. Seriously though, it's an excellent TAS. You can get an IPS patch for No Constancy at http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/321/ (Use the 'easy' version for the TAS), and you can find IPSes for the other hacks at there too. And no, I have no idea how to make those links smaller.
