do you have the gbmv of the resynced movie? there was some "low hanging fruit" improvements to sonic advance that I did not have time to get working because of lag/sync issues -- maybe we can try again on the more accurate emulator and get lucky

Delay in posting this since I haven't had access to my account for a bit, but really happy to see this one get done. Great job!

Maybe try on NESHawk? If the run syncs on two emulators that is probably a good sign, but idk

Why not? I think it's worth submitting, especially if you used the console verification mode for the new version.

Normal mode run should just obsolete it as long as it is of "good quality," as we would do with a hard mode run. For precedent, I believe the Fire Emblem 6 TAS was accepted on normal mode, with the understanding that any "high quality" hard mode TAS would obsolete it as well.

So on the one hand, this quite obviously uses a code that to some degree makes the game easier. On the other, it honestly feels like the effects of said code should have just been an option to begin with rather than locked behind a code. It seems this code isn't uncommonly used in the fire emblem community for various things like Low Turn Challenges (LTCs) to reduce grinding required. I'm not quite sure how to handle this. Any additional thoughts?
I think it makes sense to accept the run, as it is the "standard" for most TASes (JP community) and other challenge runs done by the Fire Emblem community, but leave room open for a TAS which does not use the code to obsolete this one.

Are we expecting this version to console verify?

(new) early game route that was optimized on US Hard does not work on JP Hard due to stronger enemies. Current TAS is on US Hard, so it seems kind of weird to make the updates TAS on JP Normal, but not sure what others' opinions are.

I can get you the input file. The reason I had not uploaded it immediately was that I intended to convert it to mGBA (the above is VBA). Also we need to consider whether or not we want to move to JP version. If we use the ECG, its almost certainly worth it to switch, but it means that we will have to redo a lot of the early game strats (like the monster chapter), since enemy stats are higher... unless we drop the difficulty to JP normal (instead of hard)?

There is no way to manipulate the RNG once in level, but setting the timer at the beginning of the run appropriately gives you a choice of 64 (or 128, can't remember) different seeds.

Any reason this is still pending acceptance?

I agree, this is a game that (I believe?) was known to be console accurate (up to a few lag frames) on a previous version of mgba and if that has changed, it is worth noting the regression as an issue on the github page. On the other hand, it is worth separately verifying if the current Sonic TAS still works on the current version of the emulator; if this it the case, it would suggest that there has been no regression, but rather something specific to this knuckles run that causes the inaccuracy.

Agree here, yellow is definitely quite distinctive from red/blue and warrants its own category

Since it looks like no one is actively working on this can we at least judge/publish meshuggahs version? Should we restore this thread or resubmit?
