Well, seems that I'll have to redo a part (after finishing the Hiryuu Valley). I'll set Galuf as Thief, Butz & Lenna as Blue Mage w/ Mix & Faris as Time Mage w/ Dash. Hopefully, most of that was text, so it won't be hard to do it again. (Though I'll have to re-organize again the items :( ) I plan to keep this setup until Exdeath's Castle, on where I'll change Krile to Elementalist... (To cross the lava, I'm sure it's faster)

Things didn't went as planned. Seems that the monsters at Atomos' Tower are faster than Blue Mage & Jikuu Mage, so I'll probably need to change Galuf into a Thief. I could also try killing someone in the process of climbing the tower, so that Atomos waist his attacks dragging that person. However, I checked & he can pass his turn, but he attacks twice in a row & he's pretty fast, so maybe having a thief is better. Lets see how it comes...

Didn't knew you where working on this game again, Phil. Congratulations :) *Goes to search for the Snes9x 1.502 to be able to watch it... Edit: Sparta?! This is Madness! I liked when you used the waiting time to evade at high speeds. It's obviously a Yes vote for me :)

Thanks univbee, currently I didn't had chance to advance, but I already decided which jobs to use from Hyryuu's Village through most likely the end of world 2. I'll check if I equipped everything I wanted (including the bone mail & dance dagger), then I progress. (Probably will need to check the Algorithm FAQ & the patched run, but it won't take much time...)

Also, you should mention that it's case sensitive, as I wrote 1U instead of 1u, then it won't show the address, it took me a while to figure it... :P

Well, that would depend on the situation. If there are several enemies close & you need to kill them, then boost the attack. If you only need to travel, then the speed. I would think that in general, the speed is more crucial. You could only boost speed to travel & then upgrade the attack for sub/bosses. I played again this game & in most of the cases, you need to go here & there, so speed is a must...

Here's the address of the HP of the enemies: 7E093B XX 1st Enemy 7E093C XX 2nd Enemy 7E093D XX 3rd Enemy 7E093E XX 4th Enemy It also works for some enemies, but don't know when it's updated... Seems that only 4 monsters can show at max in the screen, so there's no 5th not 6th enemy HP address... The bosses will take the 1st address....

Ok, I haven't had time to work on this run, but that doesn't mean that I've given up. I need to check which jobs should I change & then I'll continue. Currently, I defeated the Hiryuu Plant...: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/4656/Final%20Fantasy%20V%20%28J%29.smv Oh btw, I have vacations in mid April, so I hope to finish the run before May...

No, it wouldn't be accepted. Dunno if it could be accepted as a concept demo, but I still doubt it :(

Since it wouldn't mind, separated runs would be best IMO... At least to check the run you're most interested in...

Dehacked's page would be good

It's not a power, but I think it would really be interesting, despite it would take the longest to finish...
Floogal wrote:
- Should Copy be a considered power? You can't really damage the minibosses with it, so what should be done for those two fights?
It's a power, however since you are only going to use 1 player, then you can't really finish the arena with this power, as you mention.
Floogal wrote:
- Should Wheelie-rider be considered a power? With just 1-P, it would be very similar to Wheel (and breaking the no-helper rule), although there are subtle differences between the two.
If you're going to use the stars, then I say you should also include this run...

Note that I have not started anything yet. For fun, I've researched the different powers' strengths, which I've had added to the Damage Guide at www.gamefaqs.com. Before I start, I'd want to time how many frames long all the moves are to really be efficient. Also, I'm busy with school.
If you want some critics, you could send the files to my mail. PM me if you're going to do it :)

What I meant to say is that the TAS times are supposed WR times, but I know some of they are not. I've tried lots of things agains Gabby Jay, yet I didn't succeed. Maybe there's a unique combination that is faster, maybe there's a bug, I don't know. But I still believe those times I mentioned are genuine, though they are hard to believe...

Phil is trying to say that if not for Genisto finding the faster time, no one else would've thought it was possible and even bother to try to recreate that time.
FALSE It was mentioned long time ago on GameFAQs board that Nick's time could be subbed 8 seconds. Also, I've mentined some times that where posted on a Mexican Magazine which are lower than some called WR & I'm confident that this records are genuine, but noone has found the strats. Maybe I should seach & scan the magazine so you believe me...

So, only the Jikku Magic has problems with the levels? Then there's no problem with Hali, I only need 1 Time Mage & 1 Blue Mage, I could set another one. But to be sure, I'll try this before continuing...

Can someone remind me on when does the Blue Magic DarkShock & Jikuu Magic Old connected? I was calculating my levels & I'll be at 11 after the battle with the Magic Drgn & kind of remembered that I only had like 1% of connecting a Magic when I was at 12 to either Halicarnas or Exdeath... I'm outside Kelb, so I can buy Holy Waters to mix the Samson Powers. An alternative could be stealing a Dragon Fang from the Great Dragon at the Void (if I meet him) or kill a random enemy that would give me enough Exp to level up... Does Kelb city sells the Holy Water? If not, maybe I should fight & win some levels...

I haven't had enough time to work in the run lately, but I'm sure I will have some time starting next week. From the little I advanced, I had to redo it because I saw a way to avoid losing time, so I'm still at Bal Castle getting the ABP's... :(

My best time there, also with wheelie rider, is 4'25"20 Someone at GameFAQs forum claims to beat it at 3'42"38 AND with Plasma... You can read it here...

Nope, it doesn't. It looks cool, but it takes a few seconds more (well, I didn't measured, but I'm sure it's slower) than if you play normally. Also, since I won't go at all to Mirage Town to buy stuff, it's completly useless to perform this bug. I think I did performed it on my patched run (check the link on my sig)...

Well, even though I've played this game tons of times, I never read all the dialogues & didn't knew what was the deal with the 4 crystals at the great tree. Now that I played the GBA version, I took the time to read since I couldn't use fast forward XD I always do the same with any game, I just don't like reading... I also will be busy with school in the next 2 weeks, so I won't progress much by then. I have final exams :(

That would be a great idea, that I also wanted to request :) Something like writing the addresses (and the size), then open a similar window like the one of the memory viewer, where you could also edit the values as you normally do with the memory viewer...

I haven't advanced in the run yet (to addicted with the GBA version :P), but I heard about a couple of strats on GameFAQ's forum that may work faster...: First of all, I heard that if you kill a transformation of Archeoavis with Monk's counter, then the battle will automatically ends... Also, the 2nd transformation of Twin Tania is vulnerable to Lv 5 Doom, so I don't have to pick Break. Even with the lag of the Blue Magic, it might be faster, though I also have to buy the Jikuu magic Old & if IIRC both magic are bought on the same town :(

Sounds like a great idea that would fit perfect for Final Fantasy V, since it's in japanese...

I just watched the wip, and it looks good. Why did you get those two fire rods?
Not sure which part are you talking, but I got a pair of them for Archeoavis battle (he changes his barrier "often"). I also bought some "extra" rods, due to the fact that I forgot to take account that I leveled up earlier than in the patched run, so I do a little more damage. In the fight against the Sol Cannon I only needed 8 rods instead of 9 :S. Aint that bad as I beat him faster, but I'll have more items, which I wasn't supposed to. Well, same goes with the 3 techs that I skipped with the Puroboros, so there are some minor mistakes that should be removed if another run comes... I also forgot that I only needed 3 bears for Gilgamesh at the brigde & instead of the 4th one, I should had used GP Toss, break a rod or throw a tech. That would saved a few seconds at the Desert, but I remembered that until today... :P

No, I won't change a thing. That's what it keeps me busy taking so long aking the file :) Have you played FFV before, or do you need a little help knowing what's going on?
