There is no music in this game, which is really bad. So put on some good music while watching this run, it will probably make it more entertaining to watch! :)
There is music on the actual cart, apparently just poor emulation.

Interesting to see this topic bumped, since I'm actually planning to speed run this game. I've done a lot of research and have just started some attempts for the first segment. So if somebody decides to TAS it, that would be cool. It's not necessary to obtain any of the Zenithian equipment to beat the game. Getting Borongo is also optional. And Bianca is definitely the better choice since picking Flora involves having to go check the shrine an extra time. The hardest part would probably be deciding if and when to level up. For the speed run, I'm planning on abusing the trick to get all critical hits. If you have 6 specific items in a certain order in the hero's inventory, then every hit is critical. Of course, you wouldn't need that in a TAS since you could manipulate criticals. One really cool strategy I read when checking out Japanese sites is for the battle vs the "Lava Savages." You can recruit a Bomb Baby, then use its suicide attack to take them out easily. However, in order to have the MP to use that attack you must get a magic nut from Reinhart and use it on him. So if you take into account the fight to get him plus that, I'm not sure if it would save time. EDIT: There is a TAS on NicoNico from 2008, beats the game in 2:53:22.

Why not use the arcade version instead?

It would be interesting if you could come up with some sort of storyline with all the answers. Like for instance, the player could start off by saying hello to Alex, asking him about his family, then get madder and madder at him.

I don't understand why entertainment to the general audience is such a big deal. The fact is, no one visiting this site is going to randomly stumble upon the Bad Dudes TAS (or whatever other crappy game). The only people who are going to find it are the people who already care about the game, and it's entertaining to them.

A lot of 2D-runs get lower average rating, especially entertainment rating, because people who dislike 2D rates them. And yeah I can give examples. So this is a more and more occurring event. Just a heads up.
If people don't like 2D, then they're on the wrong site.

I remember his first movies being really amazing, but Bisqwit said everywhere "They're faster than mine, but not so entertaining." Then, all of Bisqwit's "followers" started to criticize HappyLee's movie and to make fun of him on IRC (exactly the same as what happened when Bisqwit had an "exchanging of views" with pSX Author).
It's sad that people act like that.

Upon further thinking, I think Shadow might be the best car for a TAS. His special is like a remote (damages multiple cars), and if you do it in the exact right location it does a ton of damage.

I've been playing this game a ton lately, as I'm working on a speed run for SDA. My best time so far is 23:43 with Thumper. That's not counting any loading, just the 8 stage times combined. During one unsuccessful run, I had a Moscow stage time of 51 seconds which was pretty incredible. I had 3 remotes, and I blew up four enemies at once. That's the kind of crazy stuff you'd need for a TAS.

The fastest way to kill enemies is to get them to bunch together and then use a remote in the middle of them (while you use the shield). It might also be better to have a character who can hit multiple enemies at once with their special, like Axel. There are two remotes right next to each other on the first stage. I'd say if you got everything to go right, you could beat LA in 60 seconds.

I did a quick speed run of this game a while ago, for fun. Ended up with a time of 4 minutes based on the game's timer. What route did you use? Here's mine: 1a 3b 4b 5b 6b 7b 7a 8b 10a 11h 12g 13f 14e 15d 16d 17c 18b 20a end Used the following FAQ to plan it: http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/segacd/file/587979/11547

GarlandG has just started a FF7 TAS and is uploading any finished segments of this run to his Youtube channel. This TAS is only supposed to act as a demonstration of how a regular (non-TAS) "perfect" speedrun of FF7 could look like and he will thus not be utilizing those extreme TAS luck manipulation tactics that some of you might be used to (like having every attack go critical).
If he's gonna go to all the trouble to do this, then why not include that too? It's annoying.

I love this game. Did you know if you go over 255 runs, it goes back to zero?
