They probably changed it to make the game easier for the non-Japanese markets.
That being said... "fire, leaf, lakitu, etc, marios"? Lakitu? I must've missed something there...

I disagree with that. Maniac Mansion may not be one of the most well-known games as far as the NES is concerned, but as a game in general, it's probably among the most popular and widely-known ever released. As such, I don't think having multiple (different) movies would be a bad idea, and especially not when you consider that the NES version is pretty much the only one that you can easily make movies for at all (there's ScummVM which allows you to play the PC/Amiga/... versions, of course, but I don't think that one has any movie recording capabilities).
The FCM link for the published movie is broken.
And, speaking of broken links, it would be nice if the site actually returned some kind of error messages if the user tries to download a movie file that doesn't exist instead of just giving a blank html page.
You can record demos in Wolfenstein 3D, yes - http://www.gamers.org/dhs/helpdocs/wolfchts.html says how, for example. Other than that, there are a few advanced Wolfenstein source ports out there (like WolfGL), and I'd be surprised if none of them had any demo recording capabilities.
Considering it's slower than Genisto's existing run, it shouldn't be published, but the prospect of seeing more new SMB3 runs in the future now is sweet. ^_^ I wonder if the warpless run could be improved using this glitch, too?
If Cheez is right, then you should definitely improve on this further, yes, but I refuse to vote "no" just on the rather nebulous grounds that the run is not as "entertaining". It's faster, so it gets a yes from me. End of story. :)
*All* videos on this site aim for pure speed, first and foremost. You didn't manage to beat ziplock's time, so it doesn't matter how many "cool tricks" you perform - his is better.
True, but we already have a published movie of the first track of Excitebike (with a star, even), so since one this beats that one's time, it should definitely be published nonetheless.
