Close to the bottom of a ladder, it is possible to walk off, falling straight down. Have you investigated to see whether it saves any frames to do it? (Frankly, I doubt it, considering you walk down ladders fairly fast as it is, but still) In either case, I love you.

Oh, this is wonderful. I wasn't aware you could turn around while swinging the whip like that. Can you use it to do extra damage to bosses? Because that would be seriously awesome. Great movement optimization and enemy manipulation too, I'm really looking forward to more.

I don't believe you, Masterjun. Whatever you write in the submission comments, all that stuff before executing the glitch was probably just showing off, while you made the game jump to the credits using a magic wand. Yes vote.

Watched the encode (thanks, Mothrayas!), and I must say, the run was quite insane. The Shinespark chains especially, it goes all over the place. Yes vote and easily one of the best and most action packed TASes I've seen in a while. /Mothrayas: The sound appears to cut off during the credits in the encode.

In general, I don't think anybody who publishes their work on the internet qualifies as a child in this light anymore. Because of this, I doubt you'll have much luck finding art like this, though I would be curious as well.

OpenMSX can be set to automatically record whenever you start a game. (Do note that it has got a reverse feature, rather than traditional savestates) - you only gotta remember to save the replay when you're done recording.

Ooh, I've never heard of this game before. It looks like a fairly simple side scroller, but the TAS seems fast and fluid enough. I'm looking forward to see more.

Different kinds of grinds, though. Dawn of Sorrow has grinding for random drops (i.e. souls), which are far too rare, and it has an asinine system that converts souls to weapons. So if you want good weapons then you have to grind for souls and then use those souls up so you don't have them any more. Portrait of Ruin has grinding for subweapon mastery, which is just playing normally while making certain to tag each enemy you kill with your subweapon at least once. Then I got to the final boss, said "screw it", and ate about 50000 calories worth of food (i.e. all the healing items I'd stocked up and never used) for healing rather than go to the trouble to master the fight.
That's the problem I find with those games in general. Rather than having the player get 'the occasional lucky drop', it feels more like you're being punished for not grinding. This is especially true with Dawn's weapon fusion system, but completing the questlines in Portrait and OoE can be fairly grindy as well. Bonus points if you are a completionist who likes to fill out the game's bestiary (i.e. get every possible enemy drop at least once). On a side note, it does feel like the drop rates are higher on items (or souls) that you have already acquired once, however. Anyhow, Warp, don't let that discourage you from playing one of these games, they are great fun and very engaging. The question is just whether you can live with some grinding to get the best gear or 100% the game..

I find all of them to be equally enjoyable - Get OoE if you can get along with the steeper difficulty curve. Unfortunately, all of them are very grindy.

I found the fan film quite enjoyable, frankly. A bit rough around the edges, sure, but that's part of the charm. I mean, it is an unofficial episode, so it can do obvious fan references such as the scene with Derpy and the Flowerpots or the goddamn Powerpuff Girls. I find people are being way too critical of what is essentially a student project. As for the other thing, I am greatly disheartened by the seperationist attitude between 'bronies' and 'non-bronies'. If people were to simply accept you can like a children's cartoon and would just live and let live, the internet would be a better place.
