could u have gotten closer to the fire boss (run in quickly before he starts shooting fireballs and duck, jabbing him at close range). it still looks nice, just curious. well, this happened again on a different one as well. at one point, you meet a wizard and he tells you to leave. you do so, change outfits and re-enter. is that necessary? sorry. while i loved 1 and 2 to death, this one i never even KNEW about. the levitating wizard bit is the only other thing i can think of... but then i just saw the ending and... wow... i think im gonna have me a little seizure. anyhow, YES vote. there are sometimes where it gets a little boring, but its the game and you having to wait around. you do a good job of making it entertaining however. oh... and did u have to enter a name at the end? i kind of exited there.

but wasnt Giga's attempting to beat ALL the palaces? if so... would there be a SUB-sub catagory (used glitch, beats entire game and used glitch, aims for fastest time)? prolly not. i wonder what the best option would be then... completion by beating all dungeons or just really freakin fast. ill delete this post if my assumption on Giga's video was wrong

hey. i thought id post this since I think its fun. dont know how old it is since my friend found it the other day. http://www.jmtb02.com/flash/metaphysik/metaphysik.htm or the ebaumsworld link: http://ebaumsworld.com/ballrevamped.html the games pretty basic, but its fun if you get bored in the middle of class or at work. AND... its judged on speed... tee-hee-hee. somewhat... im not really sure whats what. i was trying to think of other things offhand, but cant. anyhow, if anyone knows any other good flash games, please post. i like playing these but only know of addicting games, candy stand, popcap and newgrounds (but new grounds generally floods the IE CPUs at school so i dont go there as much). EDIT: HEY! got another one. ive been playing this for a while and its my favorite thusfar (aside from ball revamped; even though its nothing like it) http://www.albartus.com/motas/ if it works for you, good. it tells me on some CPUs i need to install quicktime but quicktime wont DL so im screwed there. anyhow, enjoy. its a bit of a BRAIN HURT type but rewarding when u figure it out. ...somewhat. got 2 more. mostly puzzle types. and again, i don't know how old they are, but i've enjoyed playing them. http://www.ebaumsworld.com/gridlock.shtml this one is more of a puzzle game. you can only move certain blocks in a certain direction. http://www.ebaumsworld.com/marathon.html no, its not a dog... i dont know why it says that. anyhow, this one has passwords if you want to continue later! also, the advance/expert mode puts you at level 10. other than that i never noticed any real change.

i never really understood that flame war back and forth. i liked all the vids at Arc's site, even the Aesthetic ones. and i dont see speedruns as pointless, especially the Single Segment ones (and all the more important are Single Segment Metroid runs done for 100%). the inhumanly accurate stuff is nice, but i still like to see ones done without tools to assist them (non-emulated i suppose?). each has its pros and each has its cons, so in the end i don't care either way so long as i'm entertained or shown something i never thought possible. the only thing that REALLY bugs me is when people get the 2 confused or bring up the HE DID IT OVER 3 YEARS WITH VIDEO EDITING or HE CHEATED or w/e crap. oh, and im not intending a flame war... just a PoV. flame wars are pointless.

about all the shortcuts and low rerecord, i can somewhat agree with MI on that. after playing a game for so long, certain things you KNOW will happen and thereby you may not need as many rerecords. however, as to that tile, it might be a luck manipulation thing (Chem Plant). try pressing buttons in a different combonation to make it appear... it sounds a bit odd, but i KNOW this is how it works out for most games. im not sure of what area you mean in specific as im now at HILL TOP ZONE, but this is usually a problem. games are generally PERFECTLY emulated (hence why we use Good>System Name<ROMs). and Desyncing... i feel for you (the 16 bit consoles seem to have this a lot when i use them)... so after each level, make SURE to check on this. also, ask Jyzero if you haven't already for 9c version of Gens as it has PERFECT SYNCHRO which will help a lot. as far as criticism, just learn to listen to it but not take it personally... any movie i submit usually gets ripped a new one... and the best post i always get from someone is: I DONT KNOW HOW THIS GAME WORKS, BUT... (and then they say they voted no). and ive noticed your calmness as well... its insane... my first "critique" here, i snapped and had to reword a lot of posts to keep myself from getting banned. but now, i just take it in stride. and i never knew that about SONIC and KNUCKLES as opposed to SONIC alone... nifty... oh, and OINIPOTENT, i do have a ROM of each of the KNUCKLES cartridges on each of the games (SONIC 1 and KNUCKLES, SONIC 2 and KNUCKLES, etc. im not sure if these are accepted here or not.) and DONT worry about rerecords. SprintGod used 100+K and i only think the more of him... someone who dedicates themself to such perfection (though ive seen posts that claim otherwise) is truly wonderful and nice to know when watching a movie (especially since the SONIC ones can get quite large for DLs). and one last thing to wrap up this massive post... instead of heartache, do a level and then ask someone to host the GMV file so it can be evaluated in the WiP section (Games). this will save you frustration and allow improvement before proceeding. its a MUCH better idea then doing it all only to get mistakes pointed out to you in the first level or 2 of your half hour movie. and i really dont want you to walk away from this... you're improving a LOT... and someone needs tomake this movie (as opposed to endlessly discussing it; no offense to you guys). but i understand needing a break from the game. just think about doing WiP's instead of submitting full movies it SHOULD help you a lot in that heartache area.

http://www.soniccenter.org/?/videos/sonic_2 im at the ruins thusfar... but this link may prove of some help. since you aim for a fast time and these videos try to be entertaining as well, this site will provide the world records and videos. Sprint did some, didn't he? haha... anyhow... use slow motion more... and a LOT more rerecords... if you've seen SprintGod's Sonic 3 run, you'll get a good idea of what is expected. simply put... theres a lot of mistakes... im sure someone else will get into the details of it. ill edit the post when im fully done. curious... how much time do YOU think you could bring it down to? EDIT: -Use spindash more often... it'll speed things up -Don't take damage unless it saves time -Don't "wait" for things to happen... keep moving and move fast (its Sonic) -you really don't need so many power-ups oh, and the time for 12 of the 18 stages is 9:04 with Sonic alone (added up from site records). granted, with stage ends/begins and intros it would be longer... but not by about half an hour. EDIT: oh, and end the movie when the last button is pressed... otherwise, we officially recognize it as not ending until the time the MOVIE FINISHED pops up.

i liked it. i use to play this game a lot when i was little and always hated those instant death attacks from nowehere. IMO, seeing this done so quickly was kind of depressing... i played this for a whole summer! hahaha... anyhow, a yes vote. will look much better in my collection than the one done by EvilHeart. Good job, scubed!

is there a place where they archive these things? i know SprintGod did Sonic ones and Planetquake has a bunch and Arc pretty much provides everything else i can imagine... but is there like a little web page or readme or something dedicated to it? id really like to read up on them.

sure. why not... everyone else seems to be doing one or talking about the other... cant remembr if Mystic Quest is involved yet or not. but would you be playing the PAL or NTSC version? both have some major differences. i personally would want to see the PAL. though its tough and leveling up in some places would become necessary... i think... i only played the PS version (Hard Type). anyhow, post away.

well... i got bored and did this one a day or so ago. its complete but there're mistakes here and there. i generally never do a movie FRAME BY FRAME but i did have this slowed to around 20 or 16%. hmm... i wonder if people know what this one is? Well, its kind of a sequel to the old Pitfall game for Atari. its out on SNES as well and maybe another platform or so (32X but i cant make my BIOS work). i think the PAL version has more obstacles, but it kept desyncing on me. dont know why really, i had everything setup for it to use PAL games. anyhow, the LINK: http://133an.sytes.net/~truncated/pitfall_tma_by_ssd.zip thanks to truncated for putting it up. and there should be a list of things that i acknowledge in that zip as well. if not, ill post them here as i originally intended to. just curious as to what people thought of it. well...enjoy.

I dont know anything about making speed runs, because I have never made one before. But as far as getting Nightcrawler in the first level heres what you can do. Start the game, and then get in gens and click 'CPU' then click 'reset 68000' and that WILL start you out with nightcrawler.
Gens does not support RESETING of any kind. i know, i tried it with X-men 1 and all that happens is i stand around and press the buttons like a moron. However, it being at the beginning and all, you could always try it here, since not much else will be happening. Perhaps, i dont know.
The pyramid level, are you saying you tried skipping floors and couldnt do it? or are you saying that you tried it, and wolverine was still faster than nightcrawler?
i tried it. i kept doing it at peak level from different areas and tried doing different kinds of jumps and kicks but still no go. if you know the exact way, it might be possible. but i simply cant get him to.
When I played apocalypse, The first battle I hit him probably 7 times. Then 1 set of balls came down, then he came out after that set, killed him in one or two swats. I noticed in your video though, that after the first battle, 5 Freakin sets of balls came down before apocalypse came out to fight. Oh.. and I tested this withought getting hit with those brown balls at all... but further testing needs to be conducted.
i did this as well just now. IT SAVES 42 SECONDS AT LEAST. just do not take damage and avoid the balls. cheers to you for enlightening me on this. the one thing about what you said though... how did you manage to get 7 hits on apocalypse the first time he came down? i mean, when the stage starts and he comes down to say hello and then goes back up... is this the place you are referring to? im really interested in that because it sounds even faster...possibly... damage is damage i mean.
And about the teleport flip thing, your right. After you teleport you cant flip/roll.
on a note... if you leap and dive kick the enemy (45 degree angle) you can hold down B to leap slightly higher (i found this in the Savage Land complex when i bounced off of these floating freaks with guns). Also, if you are close to the ground, it may help to know that you can do a flip/roll in the air and then finish off with a jump kick (normal kind that has a horizontal reach).
Truncated: "Reading trough the discussions is probably a good idea, there are all somewhere in this forum." I looked through the forums and couldnt any discussions, can you link us to it?
search in here. In workbench. Because i didnt have storage space online, i use to just put my results up each time i beat a movie. They should be within the first couple of pages... and i believe one is still on the front... me beating it in 27 minutes. they all contain small things that were discovered over time. anyhow, i just did that one part with apocalypse because it was irritating me at the moment. i wonder if it could be beaten in UNDER 25 minutes now? hell... prolly a lot more since i thought getting it lower than what i'd had for so long was to be impossible until i tried. Oh, and TouchOdeath, go ahead and try on this game. its not nearly as tough as you might think. Just be warned that it may desync from time to time and that will be the true frustration.
