its possible, but all SoR characters are how they were when they died. meaning if you wanted ming-wu's armor and weapons for the game, he'd be pretty much defenseless. though im not sure how much this will factor in to a TAS.

if fists = dead bosses (ogres raped me like a prag, so i never made it to chimera) then random encounters become the biggest problem (for GBA, as best i can tell). is there a way to avoid them entirely or should just aiming for a quick getaway be better? i know for a few early boss battles i beat my characters up and leveled them against weak overworld monsters (and used ming wu to heal us before the next battle). but what would be a balance between overkill and being too weak to go on? i only ask because the bosses seem to be very powerful when first met opposed to when later met and they're just as clumsy as the next. what i mean by that is that the land turtle seems more aggressive and direct when first met, but his follow ups are clumsy and lacking (and i didnt level up my defenses or armor much either... if at all to be very honest). i could say the same for a few others as well... maybe just a meaningless observation or maybe the game makes them more dynamic for those IMPORTANT encounters. dunno... more ramblings maybe... access to the memory viewer and such could be able to confirm this id think, but im useless at such stuff. i dont doubt critical hits could be manipulated... or can they with fists? its been so long since i looked at these games. im just afraid that some of those boss attacks might be completely unavoidable (like some attacks are in FF5... at least according to algorithms). Boco, you seem very well versed in these games... im amazed you havent presented WIPs or anything like an algorithm guide. and no, im not kissing ur ass... just wondering.

well WTF ever happened to fortune? he was working on one for GBA... maybe interest lost. from what i played of it, manipulating the next battle by waiting can take quite a while... not frames, seconds. the cancel trick gone, but the card game is for gaining money. if you could glitch the toad spell to a high level so that it changes the rewards... but i wouldnt know where the begin. and the fists become quite useless around deist (dist, whatever...), or maybe i wasnt doing it right. the games leveling your stats up (such as weapons) seems a little fixed... or maybe its the experience system works like SotN... the more experience, the less you gain from weak enemies. maybe this should all be moved to the GBA one though, since doing the NES would be quite boring unless theres something huge to exploit. sorry... rambling, i know... just observations from me.

thats a shame... being in a community with such knowledge of video games and not knowing about a "sequel" to something like Pitfall... one of the most classic games out there (you cant buy an atari pack today without it)... thats like naming the TEN MOST MEMORABLE NINTENDO LEVELS and forgetting about metroid and zelda. ;)

happy at least someone else knows about this game. i jumped a lot because i thought it was faster. and i didnt know much because when i use to play it when it first came out, i couldnt beat the first level. this was done to sort of satisfy my ego (does that link still work?), and no one responded to it, so i quit. it would be nice to see it completed though... in some capacity.

so the SDA run is up. one, nitsuja was credited ninjitsu. 2, how close do either run come to the TAS? i know the timings different, but 22 and a half minutes still seems very good.

my friend had this and brought it over... damn was that game a bitch in the controls department... any thing to make it look fluid and like it doesnt have such problems would be great.

i dont know which is faster... i thought input could end as soon as L5 Death was executed. it shouldnt matter. i woulda tried killing off everyone but one character (maybe Cara left alive only? i dunno). or all alive. it doesnt really matter, speed wont be everything. entertainment will greatly factor in (especially for those not familiar). im lecturing and out of place... sorry. it looked extremely nice goroh. there were a few HUH!? moments but i cant recall them from memory. i applaud you for bringing this to life.

RAID ME! (yeah, i had spare time in school... goes to show with my lack of pursuing a career) and most of these are game sprites put in compromising positions or something dumb like that... it was entertaining at the time, and deviantart is anal about what you CAN and CANT have up, so MEH! oh, and i think the last one i might still have over at SDA... i dunno. considering you left your options wide open, im just throwing these out there... im sick of not being able to show stuff i do because of copyright issues. oh, and size might be an issue... it changes from site to site and these werent made with NESVideos in mind (not all of them at least) enjoy. unless theres a major glitch or something to exploit, i wouldnt find it too interesting considering mashy's run over at SDA. just my input, though i agree its a great game, im not sure how it would work for a TAS.

crossing the text is done by entering:

if ever in doubt, you can always quote someone or look at the page source. strike seems like a pretty weird word now.

Oh, I healed to refill the MP, I'll need them for the Black Flames (I used Death Claw). Didn't checked if breaking rods was better, but I'll check that later.
breaking rods is better. i forget the element... ice or thunder. but a single rod should do them in.

Well, every time you walk in the lava, the screen will shine & you'll walk slower (plus your HP will drop to 1). That's why you temporally change someone to Elementalist. It would be needed to check if temporally changing jobs is faster thank just walking (I think it is)...
you walk slower? i never even noticed. whats in the lava you need to get? i thought you got diamond and ice shield back down before the lava part... around where magic dragon is first encountered (well, ice shield... diamond is perhaps a bit too far out of the way?)

i like goroh's format far better than mine. and im VERY pleased to see someone putting this to good use. praise you Tilus, you are a hero. *deletes previous walkthrough* my input for goroh's FAQ: hmm... im wondering about the mythril shields, exactly where this evasion will take place. oh, and have someone die in the Iron Claw Battle or LiquiFlame Battle instead. your more likely to lose someone in the Iron Claw battle anyhow. you wont need to heal before Sand Worm. i just got a buttload of DEMI and ended with very low HP (but gravity attacks cant kill you). so heal afterwards as you'll need to change jobs anyhow... or maybe not if you can manipulate luck rather well. leveling up for Titan... theres several places for this... finding the best for most experience may be helpful. i was thinking Black Flames, since they're very simple. but i love what you have. im not sure about stopping at Rugor/Lugor. is an elementalist necessary? i mean, compared to just letting it go since we'll be running from battles and then healing with a tent? i suppose testing it is the only way to know for sure. the skipping lenna glitch... thats my only concern. id suggest picking up the haste-ability accessories personally. you wanna get actions off in the void before Wind Slash or Flame gets your party. ok... i like it. of course, they arent my choices to make in the movie, but i like whats compiled here. very nice. i REALLY like the strategizing for learning those VAL CASTLE abilities. very nice work goroh.

set to 6, it will take longer for enemies to take turns and is necessary for a few boss battles just so they dont get off insane amounts of hits or change a lot. goroh, could you record your progress? it would just be something to see, as imperfect as it might be since its not aiming for a published movie on this site. it would still be nice to have something aside from the flow chart. i should update that BTW.

heres the ABP link over at RPGClassics http://rpgclassics.com/shrines/snes/ff5/ap.shtml the battles after Archeoavis (and the "last" job set) start at 454 w/KimraBrain. the pickings are pretty slim, and dont forget that some bosses wont be as flexible as others. but this may help with gaining certain job levels, at least by calculating ABP. it may or may not help, and i may or may not have linked before.
