Sorry for double posting, but here is a new BLJ strategy for LLL red coins: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hr3DoiIsztQ
Interesting! It isn't *much* faster than the previous record if I remember correctly, but it's much more entertaining. I approve of this.
There was a different coin collecting strategy (still with BLJ) posted on Nicovideo before you said this. Here's the link: http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/1310250801 Time is 15"27.

It wasn't bad IMO, but knowing TASVideos people, my guess is it won't get accepted.

*It would be legal if TASed on Dolphin with the Virtual Console version. =) *Please don't take this post seriously. Edit: Here are compilations for Task 1 of the competition I mentioned earlier: Top 5 + Splitscreen Top 3 (No splitscreen) I made 2 to see which kind people would prefer (short and simple, or longer and a bit more complex).

For anyone that cares, sm64.org is hosting an SM74 (hack) competition here. The discussion topic can be found here. Here's my run for Task 1 (1st place): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JNiDHvU7jJg

Mario will just go through the plank, a la King Whomp.
doesn't that work because of the butt-stomp move? it does the same with a jump kick?
You can do it with any kind of jump.

GMan, The Committee of Horrible Analogies and Insane Ranting called, they wanted to get in touch with you. Something about a forum post or something. I gave them your number. Just a heads up, Fabian
Where can I contact said committee? I'd like to give the CEO a high-five.

So I watched the 120 star WIP. Didn't like the camera angles, would vote No.
I sincerely hope that was a joke/reference in regard to the 0 Star situation from the past.

At 13:17 in that 120 star WIP, could they have ground pounded the pillar earlier? Since you have to wait for the water anyway, there is no reason to hit it on the far side.
What are you talking about? They hit it as soon as they could after the long jump ended...

Yes, we've known about it. You can do similar stuff with the JRB red coins (capless + bljless).

Here's hoping that there are no more huge improvements to be found.
Heh...the amount of time new improvements save is irrelevant to the Japanese TASers. They want it as perfect as they can make it, even if it means only a 1 or 2 frame improvement.

I honestly don't like the Zelda 64 games very much...but there's something about this that makes it far better than the run it obsoleted, and WAY more entertaining than the OoT runs (imo). This is definitely one of the best TASes I've ever seen in terms of optimization and entertainment value. If this is not starred, I will start a riot. Clearly a yes vote.

by the way, a question… is it impossible to BLJ on those slopes that are used to gain speed? (start of game, start of Bob-omb Battlefield, start of that icy world…) and if so why?
Yes, it's impossible. They make Mario go into a sliding animation; a butt slide if facing downward, and a belly slide if facing upward.

That's an extremely old run that was posted forever ago. Mickey just decided to upload it to his new account.

get the xbox 4 instead, which might come out 2012 or so
I believe Microsoft has said Kinect marked the approximate halfway point of the 360's life cycle. Since it launched in very late 2005, I'll just consider it to be 2006 for this estimate. Kinect came out in 2010, so I think we won't hear any news until 2013, or maybe at the earliest, late 2012. It's definitely not coming out next year though. Think more towards mid to late 2014. =)

I would get a PS3 over a 360. It has better exclusives, the online doesn't cost anything (unless you want Playstation Plus), and it looks better on bigger TV screens.

Some (credible) references to this would be nice. "I recall" is not the best possible approach at evaluating the credibility of something.
Okay? I'm not trying to prove anything to you guys anymore. DarkKobold already managed to do that for me.

Sorry for double posting, but here's something from YouTube comments: I'm sorry if this sounds like a stupid question, but can you use the frame advance function and quick saves at the same time? sonicpacker 1 day ago @sonicpacker Yes. The problem is loading... The engine isn't made to load from the frame you saved at. I had made a script before to load it and turn on 'singlestep 1' at the soonest possible time that it completed loading for my system. It was still multiple frames ahead of where I saved it. It is really easy to test with something moving, like an energy ball, because you'll see it in a farther ahead position when you load. Transgenic86 1 day ago

Perhaps there may be some way to keep momentum by wall kicking off the pillars near the first elevator (above the cage). Edit: Disregard this post. I just tested it and it won't work =/
