To whoever keeps changing the YouTube link on the movie page, leave it alone for now. I had a conversation with staff last night and we agreed that the author encode will be the only YouTube one. Thanks.
I'm not sure why the publication link was edited to the TVC upload recently. But if an editor could revert that changed link back as was agreed upon between staff and I, it would be much appreciated.

Sorry for triple posting, just wanted to point out I uploaded this yesterday for any confused minds wondering why a 0 keys TAS isn't doable at the moment: Link to video Also, for anyone interested there is a new SM64 TAS competition that has recently began and there's still plenty of time to enter task 1! Check that out here: https://youtu.be/hziLcFYPpF0

Link to video Just a random fun idea based on an older video of mine. Maybe someone else could find a different route and complete the challenge?

Is this really tied with the single star record? Or are the timings different?
Non-TAS single star timing ends when the star is touched, TAS timing ends when Mario lands on the ground after the star grab. Also, here's the first version of our VCUtM entry from the 1 Key including a comparison to the published run: Link to video

I can't believe how you guys still find ways to improve even those super short stars, great job!
People like SilentSlayers and Plush are extremely good optimizers. They truly are on another level of understanding SM64 physics and I agree with you, their work on the game recently is incredible. The new 120 will be absolute insanity to watch as a whole.

Just wanted to point out that SilentSlayers has improved some single stars recently: Blast to the Lonely Mushroom in 5"27 Cruiser Crossing the Rainbow in 14"70 In The Deep Freeze in 5"30 And for VCUtM he saved 1 frame in the beginning over Plush's recent WR, but it's limited by the elevators toward the end. If another frame was saved prior to that, it would be able to be improved further.

I've been really busy this last week, so sorry for taking so long to reply to you, Mothrayas. Anyway, I want to say thank you for taking the time to write your in-depth thoughts, as I truly appreciate the critique/feedback! I may eventually get around to making a response video that covers some of the potential topics you mentioned. If anyone else has any criticisms to add, or suggestions for a "sequel" go ahead and let your thoughts be known! :)

I think this link is pretty self explanatory. I've been working on it over the course of the last year, from script writing, to vocal recording, and video/audio editing, etc. Hopefully it's up to par with the community's standards! I mentioned TASVideos a couple different times and plugged it at the end. Link to video

Quick suggestion you or others with depression may want to look into: Have you ever heard of MBTI? It's no exact science, but it is a good tool to find out how like-minded people have gotten through situations and struggles you may be going through (depression and otherwise). MBTI is very well known throughout the world. Once you type yourself using the above link, which is pretty straightforward and quick, you can google the acronym that corresponds to you (of a possible 16) and read some descriptions to see if it seems to match you and your personality. If you feel it does, perhaps google some more about the type and how people like that have dealt with depression in their lives. If it doesn't feel relatable, consider using this questionnaire that will give you estimates (as percentages) of which way you lean between the 8 functions. Again, this isn't a science whatsoever, as the massive variances in people is always a factor. But you may still find it useful for potentially learning/rediscovering some things about yourself, and/or finding like-minded people. If you do end up relating to a type description, just use it as a rough guide and try to avoid boxing yourself into a label. Everyone is extremely different and basically living a completely other life from anyone else due to the veil of perspective everyone has constantly distorting reality. Also, I'd like to note that for you specifically, MUGG, I understand you feel no one around you currently cares about your life. But always know that your being and actions you've made have impacted multiple friends and acquaintances around the world in positive ways from your impressive speed run work, and more. That includes me who is always looking forward to what you have to upload next. I have huge respect for you man, and I really hope your future is brighter than your past.

The updated .m64 pauses on the last frame, I need to manually press start for it to continue.
That is a long known Mupen bug where it presses all the controller buttons following the final frame of input. It's random, but for encoding purposes, you can extend the input by going to the 2nd to last frame and doing no input until Mario hits the star.

That would be 80. And just to add, a "0 stars" run is possible without the aid of BLJs.

It's probably too late for this suggestion, but the authors of the SM64 1 Key submission recently realized that Tyler Kehne, master of the parallel universe glitch which allowed such time to be saved for any%, lives only 8 hours from the location of AGDQ 2017. If possible and wanted by others, we would love for the 1 Key TAS to be shown off with Tyler himself present. We don't really know where else to ask or mention this, so if someone who knows this process and the people associated could point us in the right direction, we would be grateful!
