The rest of the improvement came from manipulating the beezos at the beginning, an improvement that had been mentioned by tmont in 2006, but had been forgotten.
THIS IS THE GREATEST MOMENT OF MY LIFE. I was totally ready with another passive-aggresive quote of a quote and then disappearing for another couple years, but it looks like my work here is done. Oh, and the run was good, too. Moonwalking-Toad-on-ice might be the greatest thing ever.

Been watching this for the past year or so. Very well-optimized run of a ridiculously difficult game. I found it to be one of the more entertaining RPG runs. I vote yes.

That was totally epic. Congratulations on finishing. It was worth the wait.

So this was pretty rad. I don't really like the "don't get the sword until you have to" thing, since it seems arbitrary to me, but whatever. There's not really a better solution. Related to that, how come you don't get the sword at the beginning and then just not use it? Why wait until the end to retrieve the sword? You're already self-imposing the "don't press A until Ganon's room" rule anyway, so why not just self-impose it from the beginning?

That was all kinds of awesome. Particularly the use of paralysis, the use of the rabbit boots and the "moon jump". Some really cool new strategies as well as being played better than my run in pretty much every way (which, in my defense, is four years old). The grinding strategies and execution was really the best part, in my opinion. It really made this run much more bearable to watch, since there were very few parts that were worth fast-forwarding through. Seriously rad. Thanks for making it.

That was totally hott. Lots of new tricks, plus the holy grail of getting through Mt. Sabre North without going to Leaf. Also, the use of the Rabbit Boots during the grinding in Mt. Sabre South was cool. I assume you knew what you were doing, but using Sword of Fire level 2 creates a lot of lag, so you might want to use it sparingly (or at least in cases where lag won't matter). I noticed you used it a lot in Mt. Sabre South. Really looking forward to seeing the finished product.

Just thought I'd post to mention that I've been following this thread with vigor for the last couple years, desperately hoping that someone will finish this run. This game is rad and so are all of you. So, you know, you guys have a fan. Somebody cares. Love always, Tommy

Finally got Stom figured out. Stom's behavior is a combination of the random seed at $000E and a special "Stom Counter" at $657F. The Stom Counter starts out at 0 and increments as each duel starts. If you hex that you'll see that he becomes way easier. At 3 it seems he's always beatable. Note that this is in the battery area and is saved along with your savegame. However, it may be possible that at 1 or 2 it is possible for some seed values. Looks like a job for lua!
That's very interesting. Stom is a little bugger, and it would be totally awesome if you could take him down before the third round. I'm really looking forward to seeing this. I also wouldn't mind seeing some wips...

What? Proof? All of my tests from like 4 years ago said differently, which is why I used it.

Whoa! I thought it a strange coincidence that someone else named "tmont" would do a run of Crystalis in approximately the same time. Apparently I've been resurrected. Interestingly, this run is slightly more boring than I remember, but then, I've watched it several thousand times. I was actually surprised the times where I killed myself because I haven't played this game in years and I forgot about the kill-yourself-and-then-you-can-use-the-ball-of-fire glitch. Also, after rereading much of this thread, I was a little nerdy about "justice" and "fair play". What a whiny douchebag I was. It's just a video game. But then, I was just a young man, then...

Unfortunately, because of lag and very strange random factors in enemy spawning and movement, you can spend A LOT of time tweaking fights. It's also not something where a bot works very well.
Ditto.

Deleted by request. Not gorgeous, but I'm not very good at these kinds of things. That's 103 characters (in PHP). 100 if you use short tags.

The SourceForge page still works... It's 2.0.2, and that page doesn't have the latest test build. I don't either, so I can't help you there. Lua package, extracted in the same directory.
Thanks.

It seems that fceux.com and its IP have disappeared from the internet. Is there another place where I can download this emulator? Thanks

I read this article a while ago at Douglas Crockford's site (http://www.crockford.com/wrrrld/maniac.html). There's a few more "naughty"-ish quotes mentioned at the end, that are quite amusing (particularly Nurse Edna).

Actually I have it from a reliable source that he is ignored because he has been harping at people to do that for 2 years and never actually produced an fcm himself to test and/or demonstrate whether it actually is faster.
*sniffle* I'm no longer harping. And I only harped once a year. I can indeed verify that it's theoretically faster, since you'll be carrying an enemy for a longer amount of time; I've done it hundreds of times on a console. Whether or not that throws off some random crap further on in the level that might turn out to bite Toad in his delicious ass is something I'm not equipped to test. I can't afford to take that kind of chance with Toad's ass. I'm sure you understand.

Any reason why this tactic wasn't used, or were you just not aware of it? Super Mario Bros. 2 is a little less close to my heart than it was two years ago, so I won't vote no based on the fact you didn't optimize as much as you could have. Also, voting is a hassle. Oh, and the movie was sexy, too. I liked 3-1 in particular. Nicely done.

The "baseball" game was absolutely priceless. I'd vote yes if I wasn't too lazy to care about voting.

I was just joking (I know how to spell his name), but it stemmed from a conversation on the first page of this thread, which began with me saying this:

Here I go : if you crouch just after firing, it eliminates the delay needed between 2 arrows. Consequently, when you rapidly alternate the fire and the crouch buttons, you can shoot arrows at a much greater rate, about 4 or 5 times I'd say.
Nice find! Very cool. Looking forward to the improved version, Kirysimisyis.

I speak (and read) English. I own Bionic Commando (not Hitler Kung Fu, or whatever it's called). I'd prefer an English run over the previous one, which is in Japanese, even if it was slightly less awesome (and the one in question is not). Therefore, I'd vote yes if I was not too lazy to click on a button.
