A problem with PSX emulation is that the most common emulator (ePSXe) isn't open source. PCSX seems to be comparable and is open source.
Compatibility is... OW!

if psx emu with rerecording exist, I would start working on Parasite Eve right away =(.

I remember I used to play this game like mad, I gave a look at this WIP. It was entertainming at some points, but the way you play with getting bumping into wall, and same old attempts (turn around and shoot, getting bump to goal, etc) are losing my interest. I felt it was somewhat repetitive. I can give you some idea to make it more interesting.
  • Not getting bump into wall for a lap or whole track.
  • Hopping all-over (as much as you can) for a lap or whole track.
  • When a race start, sit there as long as possible, then go crazy fast to final lap as close match. (maybe save this for last track?)
  • Driving at wrong direction, and turn around.
  • Zig-zagging?

I dunno.. topics like those, I kind of wish topics like them were made by REAL Bisqwit, those could be REAL fun. Maybe REAL reward from REAL Bisqwit such as rank title below forum alias - "Dream Contest Winner" or something. I don't think REAL Bisqwit plan on making another sub-forum within REAL sub-forum, (General, Game plans, Movies, Emulators, Other).

Impressive, I cannot locate any spot to improve any large time loss. Yes, and a star.

Nitsuja, was there any way to allow/make vba to set the frame advance/other useful keys to a controller (even if its by modifying the .ini)?
Sounds similar to this thread. SprintGod made a good program suggestion - JoyToKey. Apparently SprintGod's link is broken, here is new one - JoyToKey English Version. *edit - capitalized first letter.

In SNES FF4 it was very easy to make Tellah kill Octomammoth in 1 hit with Thundaga, but I guess it's not so easy to manipulate that with the changed randomness of the GBA version?
Tellah had *aga spells at beginning of game?.. wasn't it came from spot where Cecil becomes paladin?

Some of the Items have been revamped too. Tents restore full Hit Points and Magic Points now, instead of just SOME. I wonder how many other items got revamped in this version.
I don't know where did you get that misinformation from. It restore HP/MP partially for me as well. Maybe you tried to use tent on low level characters making it looked like complete restore? Try pass level 40 characters or so, make Rosa or Rydia run out of MP and use tent.

It's good, even better if you could redo with fix getting cure early, more precise menu control (ABABABABABAB thing, you could win 1 more frame here, 1 more frame there, 1 more here, 1 more there)

I think just Saga Frontier comes up black screen from loading savestate, why not play with in-game memory card?

I have played all my PS1 games on epsxe 1.6.0, they all worked except FF9 (won't pass airship cutscene but whatever, need to play on 1.5.2), Grand Turismo 2 (won't load at all on either), and of course SaGa Frontier (new).

Um.. wow.. what the heck, it's happening to me too, even on 1.5.2. I remember being able to play it fine long ago. I tried to fiddle around with Pete's OpenGL Driver 1.75 plugin config, haven't get loading savestate to work. I think in-game memory card should work fine anyway.

Maybe you had paused the game and savestate it? Try load it and unpause. Sometime it doesnt emulate freeze frame properly from savestate I think. *edit - oh, best emu is ePSXe I guess, just have both 1.5.2 and 1.6.0 and you will be fine with it. Some game won't work in 1.5.2 and then work in 1.6.0, some won't work in 1.6.0 and then work in 1.5.2.

It even run on my window xp home edition without dosbox. It contains 100 levels and allow you make your own levels. I didn't want to start this topic until I finish my own 20 levels and share them, have fun checking out my maps. Enjoy. --It's not my site--

That would be nice, but I just had thought that it might won't help / hard to implement. For example, you want a grid of 5x5 pixel on Super Mario Bros. 3, now: You want grid to follow background? (hard to implement) OR You want grid to stay in pixel? (might won't help tell you if you make frame improvement) I just usually find something as a guide to show me if I make any frame improvement, I'm sure many other do that too.

I don't think he would improve, its 1 or 2 years old. BTW He didn't make the platform physics, Game Maker (or whatever related software, MultiMedia Fusion or something) build platform physics in game. If you really want his contact info, it's right here. *edit* they != he

screenshot looks impressive, except you are remote linking his images (bandwith). *edit- ALSO! it seem to be active hack, what if we TAS'd his 1.8, and someday he release 1.9 or later, deleted 1.8, what would you do? I suggest that we sit back and wait for this hack to become discontinued. Oh, he also not seem to give patch download instead of full rom hack.

No it happened to me first time using your modified gens, but I wasn't able to reproduce it. I were watching Gavin Wards - Sonic 3 + Knuckles, when he got to the part with flaming tank boss, I brought up Play movie/Resume screen, browse to same replay file to observe frame count, rerecording count, stuff like that, and hit cancel.. movie came to completely stop, not desync - I went like "WTF?" and I pull down "CPU" menu, check mark was beside "Play movie/resume record from savestate". Now I'm trying to do that again like 10 times now, it didn't happen again I dunno.

I like this new change especially TAB turbo, so I can skip boring parts in any games. Except, I don't know if this is bug or not. When you play a replay and say you wanted to know how long and how many re-recording count and click "Play/Resume movie" button (during replay is still playing). Click cancel, replay stopped, but check mark is still tagged there.

why not? you could win few more frames and more precise moves on certain thing such as SMB; mario jump off the very edge of bricks over large gap, and be able to land much farther. Like from frame advance you could see that frame #374 I am on the edge, frame #375 I am not on edge and falling, roll back to #374 and perform JUMP, something like that.

Rather than taking people's suggestion, could you list of games that you are aware of?
