I noticed something curious with the RNG for this game. It appears that it changes when hitting an action command like pressing A for a jump. I don't know yet if differents attacks make a difference.

About lucky chance, how do I know the enemy's level? Is there an address for it? Also, I think a script would be useful for this game. I don't have a lot of lua knowledge so I would need help on that.

Ok, could be usefull for that. Syrups cost 15 coins so I need to sell some stuff. I can get 3 1up mushrooms in the Trash pit very fast and they sell for 6 coins each.

I just checked and picnic wear is pretty much useless. It adds 15 to DEF and sells for only 7 coins.

Well at least lucky hits work the same way as Partners in Time so they might not be too hard to manipulate.

I will try to look into that. When I checked with the address, the RNG changes very rarely (once every 3 or 4 seconds) in battles which might make it difficult to manipulate fury. I just tested on the very first battle though so I don't know how it changes with different attacks.

I started routing, here is what I have: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1dDeaINa3X0m3cIWiua7lRaUxzbNM6VelvSipor7TbkI/edit What are your thoughts about what I have? Also, I was thinking about getting magic window since it is an infinite attack. In combination with the daredevil boots, it would make fights a lot faster. The downsides are that it cost 18 SP and that it is extremely out of the way (In Bowser's castle and fighting 3 shroobs with 500 HP each)

Nice to see that RNG was figured out! I actually wanted to TAS this, but the problems with the RNG prevented me to do that. Now, it will be easier to figure out what advances RNG and get lucky hits. Now that I know more about RNG for this game, I plan to TAS this game. Help for routing would be appreciated.

I tested your route and it was about 4 seconds slower. It is faster at first but you lose back all that time to Birdo.

I don't know for sure but there's a possibility that using Toad in 1-2 could be faster. Check my strategy for reference: http://www.twitch.tv/jeffrosledger/c/3252267 Your method of killing Birdo in 5-1 looks slow. There was no reason to jump over for the final hit. http://www.twitch.tv/jeffrosledger/c/3236899?t=13m31s Your route for the vertical room in 7-1 seems odd. Refer to my route http://www.twitch.tv/jeffrosledger/c/3252267?t=6m41s and once again you don't go for a jump before the second block hit on Birdo, allowing you to grab the block and throw it again without having to jump again. Sorry if none of this stuff is actually an improvement. I just want to make sure the TAS of the game I dedicated much of my time to is properly optimized.
The carpet glitch in 1-2 seems too slow to set up. Also, I would lose around 8 seconds since Birdo can only shoot one egg each 4 seconds. In 5-1, the block is inside Birdo and I can't get it from the left. Same thing in 7-1 for Birdo. As for the vertical part, when going right, I would hit the wall.

While searching for glitches in all of the Super Mario All-Stars games for AGDQ I accidentally stumbled upon this floor glitch. Adelikat told me that it seems like the same glitch that is used in the warpless run to skip 3-2. So then I tried out if it would be faster to use something similar in 1-1, and it turns out that this movie is around 38 frames faster than this run (though, I didn't really optimize it all that much). Link to video (movie file)
I finished the rest of 1-1 and because of the 255 frame rule, I lose back all the time saved. It really looks cool though.

In SMA, Toad doesn't get a speed boost from carrying items. Other than that, I think physics are the same but I can't tell for sure since I don't know much stuff about that game.

Red peppers helps a lot. They are used in RTA. For TAS, I'm not sure if it would be faster but it is worth trying. Fights would look like: Red pepper, ice flower (to reduce defense) and red shell (it is the fastest attack but it only works for ground enemies.)

I think that money glitch should be used to buy powerful badges and powerful gear. The fights could be faster.

Also speaking of item route, you'll be vastly underlevelled for future bosses. Will it be flowers all the way, or would other items be better?
Pocket chomps will be used later. It is an infinite attack so bosses will die in one turn. Later, red shells and copy flowers will be avaiable too. They are also infinite and they are much faster than pocket chomps.

Instead of doing all the games, I will do Super Mario Bros. 2 since I think it is the run with the best chance to get accepted with the different route.

I was thinking of TASing this game. It is very different to the GCN version. I think it could be an intersting run. I would need help to find the adresses though. I have not been able to find stuff like speed and position. Thanks!

Hi, I just started a run of All Stars with the "All games any%" category. The goal of this category is to beat the 4 games (smb1, smb2j, smb2 and smb3) back to back. I know it is always better to have a run of a game on its original console but I think it makes an interesting run because of some differences. For example, smb2 has a different route on this version than the NES version. Also, there is the big speed glitch in smb3 which is funny to watch. Here is the RTA world record so you can see what the run looks like: http://www.twitch.tv/producks/v/18981392
