http://smkgp150cc.free.fr/kb1sc.wmv not sure if we can accept this trick for the site, its more a SC than a trick , but anyway it would be hard to put a rule that would make a wise limit between being a trick and being a SC , so its better not to accept those big water cut near the line i reckon we also have abusing strats with ci2, ci1 ,and kb2 laps so maybe we can accept it , if it doesnt involve going outer limit (inner limit is ok like kb2 , so the inner deep water of kb1 should be ok providing you can bounce on it and not fall in the water )

I dont see where is the wip of this 3"75. Anyway tricks and glitches are forbidden on the site except special ones, where you only make the trick at last lap (or for flap) when you can cross the line in the air (without involving lakitu or a fall) so that almost the entire run stays clean. But those special tricks only figure in the shortcut tricks fields and dont count for the rankings. More details in the rules and techniques pages of the site. For the pause trick, i will test if it can help to get better items in the normal game. Btw your 90% first tas video of smk is very nice, i think you should finish it as soon as possible , then you will have a reason to perfect it in a second tas run.

In NTSC, the Long Boosts study hasnt been made yet. But it seems that yea the other characters dont show any benefits , so we keep playing with bowser/dk as they have the fastest normal speed. In PAL, El Nico (registered in the PAL version of the GP site) , has made some studies about the Long boosts. And it appeared that we could have Super Long boosts , with some special timing and with special characters. Basically mario/luigi and koopa/toad are the characters that can have the fastest/longest Long Boosts. And as mario/luigi have a fastest normal speed than koopa/toad , we prefer to use them (as you can see with the pal champion records , florent lecoanet). Of course its an advantage to use them only for course where there are a lot of Long boosts. If the course is harder , then we can prefer koopa/toad also But basically Mario/luigi are the best. Only bowser/dk stay the best where there arent a lot of Long boosts and if the course is not too hard. To get super long boosts , you have to trigger the shroom (or take an arrow) when your speed is in the red area. Its also better to be quite far from the wall before jumping and hitting it (then releasing gas and keep pressing R) if you want to have a good long boost. You need to have your speed increasing when you do that. And also hitting direction while shrooming may damage the Long boost. So its better to push direction again only after you hit the wall.

Are you sure? Which other courses is it possible on?
Sorry the other courses where it is possible are only MC4, DP3 and KB2 but you havent made them yet. And about redoing bc1 , no problem if it stays as it is, cos there are still lots of thing to improve everywhere, so would be good to keep consequent improvements for the next try. I will say it again , for a first TAS, there are already some excellent stuff, did you already play SMK before huffers? or maybe you got some advices help and info from somehere or someone. Keep up the excellent work for the end of this TAS. You definitely have my support. Perfecting a first TAS is not a fatality , an imperfect run can motivate even more to make a second one, not necessary from the same TASer.

hi i just watched what you made till now for this tas i think its a very good work for a first tas of smk gp , some tracks are particularly insane and very well thought but its weird how you made the whole strats though, because dp1 you use the glitch on the wall , but this glitch is also possible in other course where you dont use it also the corners in mc1 are very wide, but maybe that was because you had to get used to make tas of smk, thenshould be good to remake mc1 then ..; globally, each track tas is good , but mixing SC, tricks and items strats , boost, and cpu help , show that its not yet maxed, i can see you make good thinking effort about some tracks, but i can see more maximizing possibility anyway already you showed me a lot of insane strat i wouldnt even think about because of course in normal game , we dont have much items or possibilities so we think about easy strats , actually we forbid those difficult strats (ci1 , CI2, crossing line over wall or over void) because they are difficult All those shortcuts and boosts would be very difficult to do in normal gaming, thats why your tas is very interesting one question : this is ntsc version right ? keep up the good work , well done mate maybe bc1 could be improved with another strat , of course making the feather shortcut after the first corner make you lose the first lap to have an item, but then i think its possible to make the 4 other laps with it , because you can get an other item just when you trigger the first feather by driving on the items before jumping i think it would have been better not to use SC and glitch tricks, i mean its better when the kart is always driving, and doesnt stay unmoving in the outside of the track, or fall in the void, anyway some glitch make you keep the kart moving like vl1 and dp1 glitch but those glitch are not interesting , its only driving reverse around the line, its not pure racing and its not funny to see it even if its in a tas , at least normal SC like GV1 , CI bumpers are funnier cos you stay in the inside of the track and at full speed.

hello , this is quite an old topic but i think its cool to renew it a little i posted the main thing here http://www.mariokart64.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1160823856/0#4 i d like to make a tas run of thoses bonus games, as you can see in the link i already made a few vids on emulator but without tool assisted but those bonus are easier with original snes and snes controller i find, so i have better scores with the real original system also in the thread is suggested to have a world ranking page for those bonus games (or dkc games in general) we already have a simple page that i linked but this one is very basic I cant watch fried's save in my snes9x , any help? :)

i ve just seen your run its already a very good one (of course if it has been published ^^) it says all yea i saw that we could fire again when the previous shot disappear your run teaches a lot of things , but of course its not perfect , i know it could be boring to redo it some damage are nice , it makes you get nice shortcut damage makes you get back your flying power its also good ,doing left right seems also useful for deep fallings can we hold both left right at the same time with vba , was it what you used?.. yea i figured the shortcut in last stage , i dunno why you didnt use it, it isnt hard to find but yea your run was already very good and took a lot of time to do , its hard to think of all the things to do and not forget anything :p anyway the moves , jumps and flies are impresive in your run , i dunno if i must try to improve it , maybe i should try another game which doesnt have published tas yet , should be wiser

You hang sometimes to long at the walls. Yea i have a problem with my keys that dont respond quickly, the game is lagging much you know, was a strong game for game boy at the time maybe advance frame or wise tools will help for these parts Missing shots are bad too. yea i know only i didnt mind Only after Boss fights it looks nice that the shot is still inside you. i dont understand what you mean You can jump over the holes at one site. ok it was a long time i havent played the game, i didnt remember, actually i should have played the game as normal before doing the trials :) 1. Boss is much better the mine. I use autofire , did you use it , is it allowed? (but i didnt use autofire for the rest of the game haha, just testing I say? ^^) You can jump earlier, then you fall down faster and most not wait till you can move to the right. yea i figured too that the movements are much more important than we first think in this game, maybe advance frame will be better , i must train (at least use it for the jumps on the walls) 2. You can defeat all eyes with always one fly. yea i didnt use autofire, or didnt try to see if i could kill them in one fly Just wait 1 Frame and you will not fight on the map. ooh i didnt know that. thanks for the advice :) You get the falcon wings earlier. Change the weapon in the fight against the ghoul at the long bridge. i think its faster, yea i forgot to try the new weapon :X At the bridge you fall to much down at the first big hole. yea most of the run was almost one try actually, i knew it was a test run and didnt want to put too much efforts before seeing first what it is all about ;) 3. But you can stand much near him and shot faster.[/i] no autofire ; one try ... ^^ 4. I get hit and stand inside from him. yea but i thought no damage was better , i dunno what the TASers prefer , hey all do you prefer damage/fastest or no damage/fastest?^^ Just jump over the 2 enemies and defeat them faster from behind. yea i tried one or two time but couldnt kill them, maybe frame advance will help or i do more tries ... In the last Stage you use a shortcut which one? o_O if I use damage run , maybe i sure can add a lot of shortcuts, but it doesnt look as good for me than without damage :/ thanks for the comments its more interesting when you can speak with or do a TAS against another player^^

I have sent you a private message to give you the link of the "french" rom i put on my server. I have other games for TAS run i want to try too, hehe i think maybe this will be a TASrunning summer. Anyway dont put this try at gargoyles quest as my first TAS run cos the ROM wasnt the good one and i also put only one eveningon it , only to see how to use the tools. I will make my first real TAS run soon ;) maybe another game that is even shorter before doing the gargoyle's quest 'one.

No there wasnt a french version of the game. They (i think fans) only made a rom with the french texts , so yes i think it's not allowed to use it here. Because i knew maybe the length of the texts would be different in english than in french. Anyway the french translation is horrible , i prefer the original texts :P I have found a ROM with UE mark, the same as in your file, I think it'll be ok.

my rom is the rom of the french game (i mean with french texts) so maybe its the problem i will try to find the good rom, and yea maybe its better to try a damage run first , but to have a fastest run

yes i took the emulator here now i made the whole run , but it was only a test : wasnt serious ,for example , i didnt mind with the speed of the conversations and i got 2 or 3 warp battle i could have avoided, and a few other things that can be improved (got a few lags, dunno if i can avoid those..) this run i tried to do most of the bosses in one gust (could do it for boss 1 (been hit but only after the door was open), boss 3 , boss 5 and final boss) also tried to get no damage and did it except the "hit in cutscene" of boss 1 but i kept it anyway maybe i can cut some time in the story , i already figured that i could go straight to the stage 4 in the desert and dont stop at the village... but that was easy to figure out the vbm file is here tried to get an AVI movie , but couldnt, the file i get dont show images neither make sound also got an error at the beginning of the end credits (the parchment scrolling text of the end) -->unknow opcode f4 at c0d0

i cant see your run , firebrand stays in the initial room and is mad i think you wont be able to see my try too do we need to have the same configuration for the controls? edit i tried a little to see how to make an .avi movie of a run , but it seems i havent found yet how to get both good quality and small video file size i think its not the most important yet first i need to do the run and get a good run in that .VBM file

ok i just made a try at the first stage (i changed the original name so that the link dont be a problem) could you try if you can read this file with your emu? , maybe it need to be renamed with the name of your rom (ok i checked and there is no need to rename it :-))

hey it seems cool i tried first stages till the tower, its very fun to do (always checking the best ways , each try you see you could have done better^^ but i have not played the game since a lot of time now) anyway i have some questions : but one question at a time : first, how to you get those .vbm files?

yo i just thought that maybe i can try this game to train with tas runs i played this game when i was young , i loved it and finished it a lot of times also finished it on emulator with keyboard , that was easy too i think i can be motivated to do a tas run training with this game :)

i have a problem with the emu, i confused with the keys , maybe hit the wrong buttons , and now the rom always works like turbo, no manner to retrieve it working back correctly ps ; i havent started the run yet , maybe i can start when i have no problem with the rom i tried to open the rom (forced low rom )no results i tried to adjust the speed with the hotkeys after that problem but it has no more influence now (even if the change of the speed displays).. i think there is something in the memory of my pc that makes the emu boosts, fastest solution would be to format my pc and the emu will work correctly but maybe not , for example , i cant install msn messenger now ..so to format the pc cant solve everything i remember now yashar why i gave up since a few days , this is because of this problem i got with the emu :/ to format my pc will take long (the reinstall) and i wouldnt like to do it i d like to fix this problem with another manner , but i am not an informatician expert if i could fix it within the emu directly that would be nice

ok i have bought a controller but it sucks does someone have the file with 150cc mode and special cup 150cc? i guess the file Super Mario Kart (U) [!].srm can contain this data, right?
