If a DOSBox emulator with rerecording is ever feasible for use on this site, what games would you like to see TASed? I nominate:
  • Descent 1 and 2
  • Command & Conquer and sequels
  • System Shock
  • Warcraft 1 and 2
  • Wolfenstein 3D
I know that the folks at Quake done Quick are the kings of Quake speedrunning, but I think it would be interesting to see what can be done with tool assistance. (The "tools" used on their runs do not make their movies what this site considers to be tool-assisted.) I think a re-cammed TAS of this game would be very fun to watch. And, for pure entertainment, I would like to see a tool-assisted Doom II deathmatch! : D

I vote for Descent 1 and 2. I also would like to add Action Supercross and One Must Fall: 2097.

The Incredible Machine: Even More Contraptions I think it would be awesome to see each contraption beating in a rudimentary type of way, I remember there were some odd cliping glitches in this game that could be exploited. Yes, I am aware that there's a thread on this game (or one of it's brethren).

The QdQ movies are already practically tool assisted.

Heroes of Might and Magic, any King's Quest games and Gobliins 2.

Man, getting such an emulator to work would open a HUGE floodgate of games to TAS. I'd probably most look forward to games aren't really available on consoles. Strategy games like C&C and Warcraft are indeed a great choice.

A maximum score run of Tyrian. I always wondered exactly how much can be destroyed, starting off with that dinky little vulcan. I mentioned Death Rally in the DOSBox thread. It's a good pick, IMO, because there's a borderline-impossible challenge involved. In the game, there are three different races which occur concurrently every round. Easy, Medium, and Hard. They pay off something like $250, $4000, and $10000, respectively. Obviously, you'd want to take on the Hard race immediately, but with the starting car, you'd be lucky to place last, rather than be slain by the other drivers. ...But in a TAS? Hard to say whether that could work or not. And I guess it's kinda obvious since King's Quest has been suggested, but... Leisure Suit Larry.

Impossible Creatures and Age of Mythology campaigns. Impossible Creatures should be done first.

Uh... chamale, I don't think dosbox can run things that require win95 or later.

Haha! Surprise that someone from Finland requested 'across'. :D I agree though. It would be awesome to see someone crunch the world records of that game. I did actually hold one of the world records for a level for a total of one hour or something silly like that. My minute of fame. Hehe. After that I more or less put down the game for a while. Started to play again when Elma hit the computer world. Actually played Elma last week. Funny game that. Edit: Add Dune 2 to the list! Dune the adventure game would be cool too. Just to see how fast it can be done. With a very optimized rout and stuff like that.

Can't remember if Oregon Trail was for DOS, if it is, it might be interesting to watch.

I had no idea that game was so popular. I played for hours on end when I was a kid... and yes, a TAS of that would be awesome. Now, I must put forward the blatantly obvious: Worms. Just imagine.

Those "edutainment" games were actually pretty interesting. IDK if they'd make good TASes, though :(. Another idea: Oxyd series

Commander Keen-series. Also Jazz Jackrabbit 1 & perhaps 2 Old Epic Megagames like Jill of the Jungle, Epic Pinball and such... Speaking of Pinballs, Psycho Pinball, Pinball Illusions, Fantasies... and I'd like to see a perfected Nethack with extreme luck abuse on the levels and drops.

Old Apogee-titles (like Monster Bash, Duke Nukems, Bio Menace, Crystal Caves...) Moonstone Mega Lo Mania Assuming mouse-emulation is a possibility: Syndicate Populous (II) Crusader: No Remorse or Crusader: No Regret Magic Carpet (though it might be too complex for dosbox to handle) Battle Isle (2) And personally I'd be interested in seeing something done with Settlers (or Serf City), but it might prove to be too boring to watch.

…Except they actually aren't, unless you mean "they look as if they were tool-assisted". On the other hand, if they manage to find almost a minute of mistakes in QdQwav, it only makes me want to see how much more will a TAS uncover. Also, don't forget that they have to stitch demos together to avoid inconsistencies, so the amount of health/armor/ammo doesn't transfer exactly between most levels. A TAS won't have this advantage, which will pose as an additional challenge to overcome.

I agree, though pentagram might be better for this than dosbox ;)
