The aim here it to beat the final boss "any ol' how". This run does not collect all the bonus rooms (it's not a 101% run). It doesn't even enter all levels - it uses the warp glitch from the first world that leads onto the second-last level in world 3 (it's a well known glitch).
  • uses warps.
  • necessary items/route only.
  • takes damage to save time.
The in-game time is 22 minutes and 18.8 seconds (shown as 0:22 because the game doesn't display seconds, but it still keeps track of them internally).
The re-recount count is exaggerated - I had to redo all of the last world because of a de-synching in Blackout Basement. The actual count is around 4000.
This (a small re-record count) means that I wasn't as picky about saving 1 or 2 frames here and there, especially in the last world - it was over 100 frames slower that what I initially had for it. So I suspect that this run is improvable by 0.5% or maybe even 1%.
Strategy Acknowledgements:
  • Alexis Neuhaus - a few nice tricks in some of the very first levels, which I shamelessly stole.
  • Deviance, Michael Fried, Snapdragon - same reasons as the 101% 39 minute run, since the level strategies are almost the same between both runs.

Bisqwit: Good work! Processing.

faster than neuhaus' run, contains all the tricks, and is played precisely. There is no reason to reject this submission. Nice work.
