I have some questions about the Sega Saturn. Question the first: is there even an emulator for mac or pc that emulates this G-d awful system? Depending on the answer to that my next questions arise. Does anybody remember that game where it was like a side scrolling RPG with that undead skeleton guy and the young mage and his pet bunny? It had all the normal RPG characters too in the King of Dragons types of games ie cleric, fighter, etc. What was this game called? That game was tons of fun from what i remember. If anybody wants to share this name and where to find an emulator for this game I'd totally take a crack at it. Second question. Anybody remember the KNIGHTS games? They were ahead of their time from what i remember. nobody really liked them, but if they came out for the Dreamcast I bet they would have had more of a following. Again, if anybody can shed light on emulation for the Saturn I'd take a crack at these too. Cheers! -Ev

As far as i know, there is not a good emulator for the Sega Saturn, the most advanced was Giri Giri, but the speed of the emulator is very bad, like 30% of the real speed of the console.

I know there's some working on an emulator called Satourne that seems promising but I haven't tested the latest version.

There IS a Saturn emulator available, but as it stands it's still far from perfect. I mean sure, It runs Daytona USA with no issues, but most of the good games seem flawed. Missing transparencies, poor framerate, etc. I think the best option for Saturn runs is playing legitimately on the console and publishing with a video capture card. As far as the games you've mentioned, neither of them are familiar, though I do think Sonic Team's "NiGHTS" would be an incredible game for an aesthetic run, since you're graded on its point based system, and you're encouraged to take as much extra time as possible after freeing the Ideya to rack up bonuses.

That game was awesome. I need to play it again. But I have yet to try and find and emultor or roms for the system so I don't know. They must be pretty rare though.

Well, you could always buy it. You can usually find at least 20 listings at all times for it on EBay, with the 3d pad and everything, all from the same person.

Xou: This comes way out of left field but I found it very ironic that you would use the word "occidental" in your post. Occidental is the name of the college I attend :D Good choice of words! Anyways, I'm positive the RPGish game I used to play was english. I'm pretty sure my friend didn't have a translated version. -Ev

The first game you mentioned would be Guardian Heroes by Treasure. The only thing I can imagine you're referring to by KNIGHTS would be perhaps Clockwork Knight parts 1 and 2. If it was a kind of cutesy, well designed side-scrolling platformer, that's it. If not, any further information on how the game played would be helpful. Oh, but no calling the Saturn a bad system. It was very good, just poorly supported in the US. No system that has NiGHTS, Guardian Heroes, and Shining Force III can be bad.

Not to mention many many great shooters like Battle Garegga, Radiant Silvergun, classic Capcom fighting games, Panzer Dragoon, etc. I loved my Saturn.

PKJC, ok ok you're right. This system, like the Dreamcast did rule. It just had a problem with getting games out here to the US. And great memory, the game was Guardian Heros! I loved that game. The Mage was the best character ever. Plus he had a bunny! :D -Ev

Ah yeah, if he had a bunny, that rocked :) The thing I really enjoy about saturn was those first console games with high frame rate just like virtua fighter 2. I felt like in a arcade room when I played them!
