Just a little idea I had been kicking around, This should be pretty self-explanatory. If we already have a gruefood delight, why don't we crown the best of it in a way? What do you guys think?

I think it would be a bit odd to effectively say "this run was not good enough to be published, but good enough for an award". Perhaps the awarded run could get published as an additional reward?

Perhaps Warp wants that reward to apply... retroactively??? ;) http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7662 Thought I did a list for 2009 as well but I guess I didn't because lazy.

I don't think this is a good idea. Runs in the gruefood are usually not published because they're not good enough for the site. Having an award for them on the site kind of contradicts the purpose of not accepting runs.

Pretty much this.

I would like this idea if it was to crown the absolute worst submission of the year :) But if the intention is to give an award to a movie that was almost good enough to get published, but not quite, then I agree with DK and Mothrayas

Gruefood delight is unofficial (ie not approved by TASvideos as a site, but only by the regulars who maintain it). A gruefood award should be just as unofficial as the gruefood delight itself. alden's post shows how the idea can work well. And since it's unofficial, anyone can do such a list if alden doesn't want to.

For some reason I kinda like this idea... I vote for the award statue to be a dunce cap, but we would have to exclude the April Fools submissions as it would be unfair if a non-serious submission won the award.

Soon we will have unofficial stars (and moons) unofficially awarded to gruefood submissions...

Instead of stars, you could give the award a black hole, to show how the submission vanished.

Perhaps an icon could be devised from a graphical representation of curved space around a black hole, like: http://scienceblogs.com/startswithabang/upload/2009/11/falling_into_a_black_hole_suck/dec07_1_10.gif
