Curently I'm working on improving Super Mario World for SNES but at one point I found a big problem. I could do a move that slows me down by 1 or 2 frames but it lokks darn good, or I could skip it and don't lose those frames. hat is the most recomended thing to do? What is more important, speed or style?

To me, speed is, but that is only my opinion. The opinion varies by person, so if you are going for a pure-speed time-attack, then don't slow down. If you are going for as-fast-as-possible while still looking cool, then slow down the 1 or 2 frames.

In general, speed is better. However, if you only use 1 or 2 frames, it is acceptible to pull a really cool stunt. And of course, lots of speed is worthless if the movie is totally boring.

In matters of 1-2 frames, definitely style. However very often it's possible to accomplish BOTH if you try hard enough.

Really, if it's only 1-2 frames and it looks cool, then go for it.

"Speed begets style" That is my mantra. I'm not a fan of imperfect moves, but if it's in the name of speed, I let it slide.

In my opinion style is the coolest, it's alot more fun to watch weird stuff than just running and jumping.

In terms of 1-2 frames, style. Noone will notice any difference. But then, 1-2 frames sounds like a serious understatement.

Both. But given the choice, style all the way. I get no entertainment out of boring but fast runs.

You see, there is only a mater of a frame or two. If you've seen the SMW movie you know that in Yoshi's Islnad 3 he jumps on those swinging platforms whitch boosts you a little bit if you run om 'em. But I know a way to get below the swing and use the gray block it's atached to. This looks verry good but I'll lose that smal boost. Get the picture?

Sounds like a matter of ~20 frames.

Well, as long as you end up with the same amount of time units left in the level and the same or faster (in seconds) total time, there should be no problem.
