Well, I was aware to TAS this as this game is great. You can download my simple WIP here. Emulator Used: PSXjin v2.0.1 Rom Used: Spongebob Squarepants [SLUS_01352] Time: 00:01:05 Frames: 3938 Rerecord Count: 538 About this WIP: This TAS completes one level in quick time. Just like The Bugs Bunny Birthday Blowout in NES, This game is also laggy. As you see, I'd ground pounded on a 7th moving jellyfish platform because you can't reach from above if you just jump this. Before you finish the level, you need to get a jar. As I say, sloped grounds didn't affect speed. Well, What do you say about this WIP?

I can't get this to sync (I tried PSXjin 2.0.1 and 2.0.2). The emulator tells me this was recorded on v0.2.0, but I can't find that version. Could you maybe make an encode?

Yeah, I don't think there are any plain ISOs on the Internet. They are usually found in a (compressed) archive (ex: ZIP/RAR/7z) file (good dump size is 30 MB, unpacked ISO is about 196 MB). I haven't finished the game, but I know World 2 has reef blower levels (maybe that's where the glitch happened). In World 1, if you are directly under a big jellyfish platform, ground pounding can move you atop the jellyfish and allow you to jump again. Also, I'm sure the World 1 boss (Mother Jellyfish) can be defeated very quickly by finding a good spot to catch jellyfish and rain them down on the Mother Jellyfish. I would definitely rather see/make a TAS of this game than the GBA port, due to this version's superior graphics and music, quicker boss fights, and because it's the original (as far as I know).

That's exactly what I get too. And I tried several different ISOs. The information I put about ISO sizes is from redump.org, and the MD5, SHA-1 and ISO file size match those of the ISO I have. I had assumed the OP used the good dump for his WIP, but I guess not.

what i dont get is why there are so many different isos? i have the original game, lets i say i create an iso of it with magic iso, would it be different if i use another copy? are there different versions of the game? or does it depend on the ripping program?

It must depend on the ripping program, since it seems there's only one version of the game. (Everywhere I found just calls it "SpongeBob SquarePants: Supersponge (USA)")

ive looked for my copy. it's the pal version sles 03704 GER (im from germany, duh) but other than that it is exactly the same. the copy is completely in english. only the cover and manual are badly translated to german so that even mermaidman and barnacleboy have the wrong names:D and ive been wondering why it only cost 3 bucks^^ so maybe this game hasnt been translated ever, so that the dumps are jumbled and maybe a japanese version with less loading time was labled as an (USA) dump someone with the original game should try to make an iso from it

Yep, that's it. The file I have on my computer matches all of that (except that it's a *.img, not a *.bin). That must be the good dump.

Well, my WIP of this game is only a test run. So, I'll make this improved. But this time, I want to work with CoolKirby (If he wants too). And if you have desync problems, I used the file name of this rom:
Spongebob Squarepants [SLUS_01352].img

That sounds like the ISO I'm using. I'm not sure why it desyncs for me.

OK, I'll work with you on this. I am almost done with SpongeBob: Legend of the Lost Spatula, and then I will be able to work on this game. You can go ahead and start on it if you want.

Well, I tried sending this as a PM to Bhezt Rhy but for some reason it didn't send. I tried three days in a row. It must be another weird site bug. Anyway, I tried to save frames from 1-1 in the WIP you sent me and I couldn't, so good job on making it so optimized. EDIT: Bhezt Rhy, here is the new WIP. I started off Fish Hooks Park for you by pressing > at the earliest possible frame. I don't know what's wrong with the PM system this week, but I hope you don't mind me posting the WIP here.

Thanks for the new WIP CoolKirby. So, you can also upload a PSXjin movie in DeHackEd's Microstarage. OK. I will do level 1-3 and 1-4. And you will do the 1st boss. Well, I know you only finished World 1. So, you can watch a lavel 2-1 walkthrough here and here.

Thanks for encoding the WIP, antd. Bhezt Rhy, the PM system appears to be working again (my message to you FINALLY sent) so you can PM me the WIP when it's done.

Bhezt Rhy, I've saved 9 frames from the Mother Jellyfish boss fight in the WIP you sent me. My PM box is messed up again; I sent the WIP to you in a PM 12 hours ago and it still hadn't sent, so I just deleted the message. Anyway, here's World 1, everyone!
