This is a run of Amazing Spider-Man for the DOS. It uses a glitch to complete the game very quick.
  • Emulator used - JPC-rr 11.2
  • Heavy glitch abuse
  • Genre: Platform
  • Genre: Action

Stuff to know

  • Jumping is faster then walking
  • In order to the glitch, Spidey must be standing and not crawling

How to do the glitch

  • Make your way to the foyer
  • Climb up on to the helicopter
  • When the helicopter reaches the bottom, get off.
  • If you are at Mysterio's End, climb back up on to the helicopter.
  • When the helicopter has reached its peak, jump to the left.
  • Hold spacebar and up+left to shoot a web. This will carry to the left easier.
  • If done correctly, spidey will be standing up in the wall. If he is crouching, crawl out and try again.
  • Press up to fall down through the wall, then pull yourself onto the platform. Make sure you go on to the platform on the bottom (spidey should be upside down)
  • Stand up, walk to the left, stand on the button. The bad guy will fall and the game is complete.

Thanks to Vampier for linking to the glitched video on the forums, and revertebrae on YouTube for a glitch demonstration which can be found here.
I hope you like this short, glitchy run!

From IRC discussion: 17:39 <Ilari> How long would this game be if played "properly"? 17:39 <nitrogenesis> about 20 minutes 17:39 <nitrogenesis> it'd be really boring 17:40 <Ilari> Ah, goodie.

Awesome run! And sexy final screen
Warning: When making decisions, I try to collect as much data as possible before actually deciding. I try to abstract away and see the principles behind real world events and people's opinions. I try to generalize them and turn into something clear and reusable. I hate depending on unpredictable and having to make lottery guesses. Any problem can be solved by systems thinking and acting.

The mere fact of the game being completed start to finish in less than half a minute is a very amusing one. Voting yes.

That was silly. Why not publish it?

Spidey seems to appear 1) on the other side of the screen 2) inside the wall at the moment the rest is obvious

the glitch doesn't look optimized, but that's hard to judge in the last screen, is jumping to the platform (the one you remove) slower? voting yes

Seemingly random movement causing the game to end.. We always need more of that. Voted yes.

Wait, really?? I recall this game being really long. It's divided up into save-point areas called "Takes" (like "takes" on a movie set), and I only made it up to Take 5. I don't know how long the game actually is, but I'm betting a non-glitched playthrough would take at least an hour! Anyway, apart from that, I was plenty frustrated with this game as a child, and I love how you've ripped it apart. You completely ignored all of the game's puzzles (except for how to beat Mysterio, but that's easy). Yes vote.
Used to be a frequent submissions commenter. My new computer has had some issues running emulators, so I've been here more sporadically. Still haven't gotten around to actually TASing yet... I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! (http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html) Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature! Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run. I would like if you said what you saw was not optimized. You can't jump upside down. Well, you can, but gravity will pull you straight down.

Voting Yes. Would this be the shortest run on the site if it was published?

Nope. One single movie would be in on its way to become the shortest movie published. [1145] Genesis King's Bounty by gia & Aqfaq in 00:09.93

There are two shorter submissions, but neither got accepted: * ais523's NetHack "fastest death" in 69 frames * Alden's Minesweeper in 28 frames In fact, both of these were so short, they were encoded as animated images!

I can't agree that it would be boring, I would like to see an actual playthrough as well.

Voting yes and on a side note: Why does Mysterio have an evil R2-D2 walking around?... or it's just the evil vacuum cleaner?

lolwut? Funniest TAS I've seen this year, if only for that goofy picture popping up after only 18 seconds.
