FractalFusion: Instructions to play back SuFami Turbo movies are here: Forum/Topics/11217.

Watch Yellow Ranger on a merciless mission to jumpkick the shit out of anything she can find.
  • Emulator used - snes9x 1.51 v6
  • Takes no damage
  • Bad ending (Why? See below)
I started this run a while back, when a longplay was posted on longplays.org. I thought it looked like a short and fun game to run. It was only released for the Sufami Turbo in 1996, so it may be troublesome getting to play back. I've posted a tutorial in the SNES emulators section.

I got the bad ending for two reason - every 50 gears you collect you get 2 time wasting animations (1. A colored ball gets added to your gear collection, and 2. at the end of every level, you see a car come out.) The second is that I'd have to slow down to collect some gears, which would make the run look messy.

In general

  • You cannot attack while walking, so I must jump attack all the time.
  • Bosses have a predetermined path, you can't manipulate them.
  • Yellow is the fastest carranger.

Stage by Stage Comments

Here you are.

Stage 1

This is a simple level, run right for justice and kick a couple of dudes. I use a powerup here to kill the miniboss, this is faster then fighting it.

Stage 1 boss

Pretty easy. Just hit him silly and dodge his attacks.

Stage 2

Simple level again, but I have to slow down one time to jump up.

Stage 2 Boss

I found a big trick to get him in the corner and just go whap whap whap whap. He is as dead as a doornail in about a second.

Stage 3

I can't jumpkick the first miner enemy or I would get hit by a chunk of rock.

Stage 3 boss

Pretty boring dude. I tried to be interesting but it is hard.

Stage 4

Easy level, the midboss halfway was kinda long, but I was all the way trying to entertain.

Stage 4 boss

He is pretty easy, and entertaining because his attacks are very weird. Like he tries to attack you with bubbles and tornadoes. Lol.

Stage 5

So easy. I wonder what the people in the bar were thinking when the TV's are all flickering these weird pictures and men in red jumpsuits carrying swords are standing on the tables as a yellow person comes in and jumpkicks all of them. And you may notice that the two tables have the exact same people.

Stage 5 boss (Last one)

So easy, just get next to him when he fires parts of his bulldozer and go crazy hitting him.
Enjoy the movie :)

Take no damage. Is there any damage boost for running faster? For an SNES game, damage is acceptable. I haven't seen it yet,and I don't know whether it can take damage to save time.
Do the work.

Is it also faster against bosses? You also said that the bosses can't be manipulated, but what about their energy?

Haha,Dooty,we are just like exam markers. You're good at SNES games. I would ask you some information after I complete my plan. "I got the bad ending for two reason - every 50 gears you collect you get 2 time wasting animations (1. A colored ball gets added to your gear collection, and 2. at the end of every level, you see a car come out.) The second is that I'd have to slow down to collect some gears, which would make the run look messy. " This isn't a reason enough for Bad Ending. NES Rainbow Island,my bad ending run, looks always the same. And it also must cost some frames to get diamond and waste time. So I prefer watching an 100% run except that this one is entertaining enough.

So it seems X2poet, but I guess I'm a little impatient to wait for his answers, so I'm testing the game to find out and... I'm sorry NitroGenesis but your run have major improvements on the character select screen and on the first boss fight. edit: here's a test run beating the first boss 1269 frames faster: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1656585175/CarRangersTestRun.smv

That's the spirit NitroGenesis. I'm glad you understand, and I hope my test run can be of some use to your improvement.

So, the author admits to having been beaten by 20 seconds on the first stage? I guess there is no more to say then.
