• Snes9X v1.43+ v15
  • Aims for fastest time
  • Takes damage to save time
I improved my old run by 996 frames or 16.6 seconds. Most of this improvement comes from more general optimization and more use of the blue copter. I made more of an effort to control lag, which prevented me from making parts of the run more entertaining.

Gadgets used

Blue copter

The blue copter is obviously used to move faster than walking. It is only useful over long distances because its duration is timed. However, I had more hats in this run so I could use it even for short distances. When the blue copter symbol is flashing, Gadget will be invincible while using it.

Red copter

A damaging copter that can be controlled. It is the main weapon used for fighting bosses because of its strength and its ability to be controlled. I didn't use one on level 3's boss this time because he can be killed with just punches, so I have no need to waste the hats.

Hook/grapple thing

The yellow hook that comes out of Inspector Gadget's hat. Used for vertical climbing in different situations.

Plunger arrows

Those weird things Gadget shoots that stick to walls. Also used for vertical climbing.

Bombs

Used to break through blocks in the floor a few times.

Lantern

Used a few times to kill enemies. For enemies I can't kill without stopping, I damage boost through them.

Arrows

Used once near the end to leave me with six hats. This time, I gave it a more creative use by destroying the last engine with it.

Level by level

Level 1

I grab more hats and use the blue copter more. Otherwise, nothing else changed.

Level 2

The first section is mostly the same. I climbed the second and third sections better.

Level 3

Same as before, except I grab more hats and use more copters again.

Level 4

Blue copters. More of them.

Level 5

First section is almost the same. I climb the second section a bit faster. I use an additional copter in the last section.

Level 6

The first few sections are almost the same, except for some copters I use over short distances. I didn't use copters in the last section because it wasn't necessary (I have to wait for the platforms anyway). This allowed me to use two additional copters in the run. I also didn't use a red copter on the ship for the same reason. The boss fight is faster because I drew him to the hole before I killed him.

klmz: It is worth mentioning that this movie syncs under Snes9x v1.43 v15 but desyncs under v17.
klmz: Nice improvements. Accepted obsoleting the currently published movie.

Nice improvement! Voted yes. I like the parts where he jumps upwards faster than the screen can scroll. If possible, can you provide a table to show frames improved per level compared to your current publication? Thanks.

If I don't see this online soon, I'm taking this. I encoded the current run and I love this game.

Pretty nice improvement! It's good to see more copter flying, especially in the first few stages. You made the boss battles more interesting too (especially in Stage 2). Stage 6 was less interesting this time (the wobbling on the carts was overdone), but it's understandable if you're trying to reduce lag. I vote Yes.
Used to be a frequent submissions commenter. My new computer has had some issues running emulators, so I've been here more sporadically. Still haven't gotten around to actually TASing yet... I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! (http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html) Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature! Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run. From the submission comments:
Shoutouts and thanks to mklip2001 for arguably being the nicest and most supportive person on the forums.

Thanks! I also have the SD encodes ready, but I won't post them until this run is accepted.

So many cutscenes... But I like this game, and this is a good improvement. And there is a small glitch when you get the coat at the end. This is enough to deserve a solid yes vote.

There's something jarring about the whole losing cloths bit a la Ghost 'n Goblins. Perhaps it's because I don't recall it ever happening in the show. But minor nitpick aside, this was entertaining. Yes vote from me.
