are counting just the enemy group? because I also saved 20 frames (according to my notes) on just the titile screen.
Also 2nd enemy group I gained 29 frames
next 2 groups I lost frames but it was just a test run.
good luck
There should be significant improvement!
The way I read it, ADelikat first saved 20 frames on the title screen, then 20 frames on the first group, then 29 more frames on the second group before starting to lose some. So 20+20+29=69.
put yourself in my rocketpack if that poochie is one outrageous dude
Well, if that's the case, it isn't a test run since he did improve the 2nd enemy group by 14 frames and decided to keep his first enemy group like it is now.

Bag of magic food is correct:
title screen = 20frame improvement
1st enemy=ANOTHER 20 frame improvement
2nd enemy= ANOTHER 29 frames
69 frames total
On each of the next 2 enemy groups I lost frames, by the time I enter the boss room I'm down 329 frames. Thats as far as I got.
Sorry for any confusion
I don't think it is possible to do the title screen in 9 frames. In my famtasia movie, it lasts 28 frames. It could be to start from reset instead of power on. Double Dragon is like MTPO. When you use soft reset, it skips the intro.
And even so, I've just tried it with soft reset and it doesn't give 20 frames faster. Only 11 (14 due to some frame rule like in SMB).

maybe I mis-caluclated somewhere, though I'm including the "Mission1" screen in there too (if by some chance that has something to do with it).
The 1st frame that the level starts is where I was counting from.
Most likely I have a mis-calculation I doulbe check
BTW, are you officially working on this run now?
title screen = 4 frames improvement (Yes, I am including the mission 1 screen)
1st enemy= 45 frames improvement
2nd enemy= 5 frames improvement
overall= 54 frames faster
I wonder how you manage to do 29 frames faster at 2nd enemy group!?
I've tried new strategies and it's slower.
Yes, I am working on this game now.

I have the .fcm file that I used for the calculations of the title screen and 1st 2 enemy groups. I can send it to you if you want, let me know on IRC. I don't want to post here because I'm lazy and it would take effort ;)

Ok here are my calulations:
place phil mytest comments
intro 598 578 +20 measures from 1st frame that "mission 1" appears
1st grp 1540 1531 +9 apparently I lost 11 frames this time :(
2nd grp 2161 2173 +38 gained 29 frames in this group
the enemy groups are measures from the 1st frame you see the "thumbs up" sprite

I measured the 2nd enemy group at the point were both enemies are lying on the ground and you are 2 frames faster regardless of any frame rule. Good job
I've given up on this game at this point, good luck with your run
I should be alot faster if you are up by 54 frames in only 2 fights!
EDIT:
It would be a good idea to figure out how the frame rule works. There maybe situations where defeating an enemy group is slower doesn't cost you any frames. In those situations you might have time to get in an extra punch or kick and get more points. You only need a few more to get the 6th heart before fighting the last linda's. You could then use the elbow move on them immediately (which kills them immediately).
As far as I know, only the "thumbs up" is affected.
Ex. If I do 4 frames faster and still have the "thumbs up" appear at same frame, the screen still starts scrolling 4 frames faster.
In fact, that's what happened with my 1st enemy group.
But maybe there's some places where it can be useful.
More testings is needed.
Oooh, nice to know there's an improvement in the works. Double Dragons were the only games I've tried to do TAS runs on. It taught me that I don't have what it takes to make a good TAS run. ;)
but there was at least 1 moment where you could have knocked down the enemy with 1 blow (before acquiring the flying kick) by using the head attack, but u chose to do kicks.
After rereading the whole topic, I am not sure now what you meant because there's no flying kick technique acquired in my published video. I guess you meant the enemy, before acquiring the reversed kick and uppercut techniques, on the conveyor, at end of stage 1, instead of kicking him, I could head attack him. Is it that?
Anyway, if it's that, I have never thought of that. I should test it once to see if it worth it or not. With my new strategy to gain more points while doing as fast as possible, I think there's a place for that headbutt.
[Edit]: Thinking of that, the reversed kick and uppercut techniques are learned when fighting against Lindas. Anyway, after a quick testing, the headbutt saves me some frames there. Now, I need to do it perfect.

and u can kill the first 2 chins by knocking them to the left of the screen and walking right, they will disappear. it's a bit faster than killing them.
The first Chin is at end of stage 2 and it is faster by killing it the way I have done it. The other one, at stage 3, may be skippable. I will try. Though, I have some doubt that I will be able to skip the 3rd one if that's what you meant. ;)

Yea that post is really old, i'd have to re-watch it to see what i was talking about :)
I think my first pointed "mistake" is that you could have knocked down an enemy by doing a head butt, but you did a kick combo, which was slower (he already had hp to drop dead, he only needed to be knocked down, which is faster to do with the headbutt, i think). But i don't know how i checked that... I may have been wrong there.
I probably meant the chins at stage 3 yes.
I've also managed to make one of the abobos disappear to the right of the screen at the end of the forest stage (just before entering the cave), when playing on my NES... he simply started walking there and never came back. I killed the other abobo and then i could enter the cave...
rofl, doing headbutt on enmy lowers your score, that's what happen in the video and will be there when I will submit it. Kinda stupid bug imo.
It happens only when hundreds number is 9. Ex. 900 , 1900, 69999.
