There is no 1-Up Trick. All you can do is continually bounce on a shell for constant levels, if that even works in this...Game. Practice restraint...Practice restraint...

While I'm glad you're interested in this game, please try to avoid looking for generic help here. These forums are generally for TAS discussions, not normal gameplay. Go to a site like http://www.gamefaqs.com/ if you're looking for game advice.

I honestly don't think you can multibounce a Koopa Troopa in SPM. Every enemy has a set amount of hp. The only trick I know of is in Level 1 of the last chapter, but you need to do that stinking 100 Trials thing for the companion, then buy some of those Koopa Shells that turn giant and kick it down the starting hallway and run after it with the companion's speed boost. This game is really annoying..

Hello Guernsey.... Well, I'm glad you're TASing this game. However, I was suppose to TAS this game as it is in future TAS list. But oh well. I know this is your first time being a player right now. So, GOOD LUCK!!!! By the way, I found some glitches in this game and you can see them here. My question is, do you think some of them are useful?

Bheszt, don't let the fact that someone else is TASing the same game discourage you from taking it yourself. People can share and it's not unusual for a run to be published with co-authors; even if you aren't interested in working with another person directly, you can learn more about how to optimize a game from another runner's work, and friendly frame wars benefit just about everyone.

^ That's right, he didn't. He just asked for the 1-up trick, which is indeed possible in this game. Well, I suppose this topic will now move towards SPM general TAS discussion.

I know a few skips in this game. But first, here are some glitches I found while I was doing a non-TAS run. Life-Shroom Double-Jump: 1:Buy a Life Shroom. 2:Die while air-borne. 3:On the last few frames of the reviving animation; Press the jump button. Useful only at a few areas such as skipping Thoreau by jumping past the 2nd Yold Bridge, and skipping Boomer at 2-1. And now for the next one. Mario's 3D Infinite-Jump: (I like to call it Dimension Hopping) Once you get Thudley, you can preform this glitch. What you do is press the stomp button. Right around when Mario starts to move down... Press the stomp button again. Mario's stomp will somehow get canceled. This is your time to press the 3D-Mode button. Mario will enter 3D-mode in the air. Jump and stomp again and repeat everything above. This is the glitch I used the most in my speedrun. Since it's the easiest infinite jump for non-TAS. It's a little slow due to the 2D-3D transition, but still very useful. Next glitch. Bowser's Infinite Jump: Once you get Carrie, you can preform this glitch. This one is simple. Also the first one I found. All you do is press jump and fire at the same time. Around when the fire ends; Press jump and fire again. Hard to preform multiple in a row for non-TAS. There are obviously a lot of uses for these. But here are some of the best ones I found: At 5-1; You can skip inputting the password at the blocks by infinite jumping over the wall. At 7-3: You can skip re-recruiting Peach by infinite jumping all the way to the top of the level. At 7-4: You can skip collecting all of the orbs by infinite jumping straight to the Bone-Chill fight. At 8-2; You can skip Mimi's trap entirely with Mario's infinite jump. That's about it, for now. If anyone wants to TAS this game, I'd be glad to help out with some routes.

I don't know why you would want to skip Thoreau. That Pixl has a few different uses such as in boss fights by grabbing enemies. And Thoreau is the only way you can beat the first world's boss. Ugh...Why do I remember things about this game! >.<

With that said, if he comes out with the run first, you can observe different techniques he uses, learn from them, and maybe discover a hidden glitch or two (if you know the game that much).

Actually, the thing about that is... The game doesn't actually let you skip out on getting a Pixl. There is a message at the end of the chapter saying something along the lines of... "Mario found the Pixl Thoreau in the basement of Yold town." And then it's with you in the next chapter. So you skip the cutscene and get the Pixl anyway. Same thing with Boomer. And probably every other Pixl. Also, you can defeat the boss of world 1 with Fireburst, I believe.

I'm pretty sure that make an excellent TAS. I may start this game soon. There is an infinite glitch jumping... it could be very useful: Link to video

I finally decided to try out TASing this game. This is the result: Link to video Not much, but it's what I have so far. This will likely be a side project to my TTYD TAS.

This is a small little trick I found: Link to video I have a feeling this could be used to drop down lower in a large room with a platform beneath it if this trick is possible on other objects as well.

Cool trick. Have you found it possible to go OoB anywhere else? It might be dependent on the shape of those "hills", which is a pretty unique obstacle in the game.

Is it possible to skip the chapter-6 trials by repeatedly jumping higher and higher? I know from a non-TAS test that once you get about halfway across the stage, you run into a vertical barrier and forcefully get dragged down to the cutscene, but I don't know if that barrier has an upper limit to its reach.

Isn't the door always locked? There's no point.

I redid the prologue to make it a bit more entertaining and also because I did something a bit slow. I improved it by 36 frames and I'll start working on Chapter 1-1.
