Bosses, Weapons(I like the arrows ;)).. and so on. I'll put the FMV if someone like to see it. http://frenom.areta.org/fmv/darkwing_duck-u-frenom.zip

I also tried on this game. 15:14 was my first time. Will do it better.

My second run ended with a time of 14:16. Is there more then one ending? Since the ending I got was pretty lame ;P

New time is 13:27 ;) So it was possible to do it 20 seconds faster.

Yeah, it´s good to compete ;P I actually didn´t thought I managed to improve my "perfect" run with uhm.. 49 seconds? Anyways, if Frenom doesn´t beats me hard next time I seriously doubt I will play that game more. It´s not that fun and especially not the fifth time or so ;P But now I think it looks pretty cool. I managed to do some cooler stunts now then in my previous version.

Was thinking of making a new try at this game ;) Wanna compete again Frenom? But this is still an idea in my head. It might turn up to be just a bad idea not worth even try. We'll see what happens.

I'm bumping an almost 3 year old topic here... I'm working on improving Walker Boh's run of this game. So far I've done the first stage, and I'm about 1.5 seconds ahead. It's really hard to find improvements because Walker Boh's movie is really optimized, but using some clever tricks I've shaved off some time. :) If there's any interest in this run, I'll continue to post my progress here. If not... well, I'll just continue without bothering you. ;) Well, enough useless words now, here's the WIP. Please give feedback if you have any, or if you have any questions, I'll gladly answer them. :)

Excellent! I tried to make a run of this some years ago but gave up because getting the gas canisters was so damned frustrating. I wish you luck on that.

Looked good Randil. This must have been mentioned before but this game looks like megaman. Looking forward to see this done.

I know what you mean, they can take some time manipulating. One thing I'm carefully planning is my use of gas. For example, the amount of gas you have when you beat a level gets carried on with you to the next level. Basically, if it doesn't waste any time, I try to manipulate luck to get gas wherever it's possible. It's usually better to have a bit more than you planned on, because sometimes arrows can be used to reduce lag at places you didn't suspect. By the way, "years?" :P The current run isn't that old. ;)

Actually, it hasn't been mentioned to me. But yeah, I'm thinking Mega Man 5, but with constant jumping. ;) Thanks for the feedback.

How funny, I try not to get gas, especially in social situations.

I guess you and I have different opinions on gas then. Know that it can be hard to get gas when you need it the most, but it's usually possible if you manipulate luck some, like me. :)

years is the appropriate term. I started the run in june of 2005, nearly two years ago. I got to the first boss before decided it was too annoying for me. Of course I didn't have memory watch nor the skills to do anything with it. And I had never attempted to TAS a platformer before.

Allright... I find it pretty interesting how much TASing has evolved in just two years. With frame advance and memory watch it's much easier to get an overview of what's going on in the game. I'm using memory watch a whole lot in this run now, and it would have been a lot harder to manage without it. Frame perfecting the constant jumping without frame advance, or memory watch for that matter, must be a real pain. I don't know why, but I like this game. It's fast paced, has nice graphics, and has different weapons for variety. I hope you find it entertaining to watch too. ;) I'll see if I can make another stage today. *boots up FCEU and loads Darkwing Duck*

I couldn't spot any problems in the TAS so far... which is not unexpected. :) The game's an evil bastard. I'll be looking forward to seeing the rest of the run.

I completed stage 2 today. Things went pretty fine, I had to stop for 3-4 frames at one point to manipulate a gas refill, but besides that, this stage went fine. I'm starting to get the hang of this game. :) Here's the new WIP Currently ~3 seconds ahead of Walker Boh. It's hard to judge though, since I'm comparing this with the .avi-file of Walker's movie. Well, enjoy.

Sorry for the doublepost, but I have some news: First of all, I've done level 3 and 4 now. I found a few cool tricks on these levels, so now I'm around 10 seconds ahead of Walker Boh. Here's the WIP Now to the other news: I'm probably gonna redo this run from level 1. Yep, you heard right. I heard that miau was working on this game some time ago, and that he found some zipping trick through the wheels. I will redo this run, this time including this trick. I also have a few other places where I think I can potentially save time. Don't think of this as any bad news: you know I work fast when I'm on a roll, so I'll have this WIP back to 5 minutes in no time. ;) I've PM'ed miau and asked him to post a link to his WIP as well as if he had any useful memory addresses. I don't know if he made the WIP public, but if anyone who reads this has a copy of it, please post it here. That should be all. I'm gonna go back to testing some stuff. Let's hope to hear from miau soon.

I'm glad someone decided to give this game a try again as I got distracted from my own run of it by other matters. Actually I've been doing more research on the game's mechanics and memory addresses than actual TASing, so my WIP is just a short test run. Enemy drop manipulation is awkward, I started to reverse engineer some parts of the game. Didn't find out much about randomness except it's set in stone at certain points so if you're looking for gas refills you might have to go a few screens back even if the items that are dropped do change if you shoot the enemies at different times. But in some cases they will likely never change into a gas refill, there might be some patterns of drops you can obtain at a specific time. I think these are set in stone way before killing an enemy. Well, it might be much easier than that, I didn't really test it, yet. So, yes, here is my WIP The zipping glitch is found at around frame 2800. It doesn't save a lot of frames, in fact I hope it actually does save any and doesn't need to be skipped because you might benefit from that arrow more if it was used in another place. Anyway, it looks kind of fun. Also, I let Basic Bot do most parts of this test run. I wonder how well it did. And here is a list of memory addresses and hopefully not too cryptic notes I did on them (some of them probably not being of any use for TASing).
