ok in this example just off-screen there is a set of old tile data that hasn't been overwritten yet It gets written over with the new tile data 2 tiles at a time In order to do the arrow glitch there needs to be a very small gap between the edge of the screen and the old tile data so the arrow can interact w/ it without going too far off screen and despawning the lower on the screen the old tile data is the closer you're able to get to it before it's written over Edit: there are actually two spots I see where it work to save time:

Nice! I wonder how hard it is to beat AnS's time aside from these tricks.

- Death animation skip on first boss - Jumping under moving platform in warehouses - Skipping one grab tile at end of Tower above the turtle - Going damageless at the end of warehouses using arrow screen scrolls (all though I feel they should have tried that so maybe it's not faster) Strats I believe should save time. Apart from these I don't know of any obvious time saves

Ceiling clip can be done without damage taken if you can find a place near this ceiling where you can stick an arrow, hang on it, and jump from it into the ceiling. I know he looked for such places and found none, but it's still worth double-checking. And yeah, damage-ceiling-clips should be researched.

It's possible to do it all the way to the boss door and you can get back on to the screen (somehow) so that you can enter the boss room. Link to video

Unfortunately it seems like you can only do this once the moving platform has completed its first cycle. In general this glitch works when ever there's a moving platform loaded Link to video
