I installed the latest FFDShow. I installed the latest XVid. Yet that doesn't change the fact that when I open the movie, Windows Media Player sends out a request for a codec, encounters an "Error downloading codec", and forces me to look at water ripples while I listen to the sound. What did I do wrong?
On the other hand, installing all those extra codecs has caused the icons of all the movies encoded by Phil to become the first frame of the movie on my computer. Before, only the ones from Bisqwit had that.

Wow, right after I posted that, I found
this helpful link. I just hope I didn't mess up Media Player when I downloaded one of those all-in-one codecs in desperation.

Well, GSpot says it's XVid, so I don't know what's wrong. I've been able to watch eleven other movies on this computer with no problem.
