I was trying to find some NES games that were not done time attack fashion, as of yet..and I think Karate Kid is one of them...with its parallels to Kung Fu, this one might be a fun video to view...just in playing around, some pretty kewl things can be done...like taking a jump downwards and having an enemy come onscreen while in the course of that jump and wiping out that enemy as well as the one coming after him with one swift kick before ever landing...some funny backwards attacks could probably be utilized as well...so as the subject header says...Yay if you think it would be a good idea to try...or Nay if not...If I get enough Yays, I will try this one...I am also working on Strider, but since its more time consuming, I would like to toss this one into the mix for some variety since its a more linear game...:)

Hey all, I just whipped up a quick movie of this game, done in 3:35. You can get it from the URL in my sig. Under 3:30 is most likely possible, but not much more than that...one improvement that comes to mind is to only use 2 crane kicks in the karate tournament, and use those other two (along with the two I pick up) on the level 2 and 4 bosses. EDIT: Jumping moves you forward the same speed as walking if you're on level ground. If the ground ahead is far below you, it is faster to walk. If the ground ahead is a bit above you, it is faster to jump. This is all due to the fact that you move extremely slowly during the descent from your jump. I'm sure I didn't always make the best decisions here, so this is something else than can be improved upon. EDIT 2: That one bonus stage is in fact unavoidable, and it is in fact faster to break one block than none (due to a lengthy animation that occurs if you don't break anything). -Josh
but then you take my 75 perchance chance of winning, if we was to go one-on-one, and then add 66 and two-thirds ch...percents...i got a 141 and two-thirds chance of winning at sacrifice

nice work, did you happen to see my strider stage one time attack (the game I originally stated I thought you'd be great in running)...? If I can get past the stupid random crashes in the emulators, I may attempt to do a full run of it...But, so far, its proven quite fruitless...

It's avoidable - just drop straight down (not sure if this is possible with enemies ahead of you): clicky

there are several points where you can take out multiple enemies in one attack...especially when jumping downhill...pretty interesting to see once done...

It's a good video - I'd just pick it up from there, right next to the end.

Nah, I'll have to do it almost from scratch. Like I said before, it's better to only use 2 crane kicks in the karate tournament and save the other two for the level 2 and 4 bosses. -Josh
