I rated Solomon's Key by agwawaf a 3/3 because I didn't see much TASy moves and the game was very boring. Then later agwawaf rated my Normy TAS the exact same. What's the deal with that? Is he angry at me for not liking his movie? I don't think it's a coincedence. Sonikkustar rated the Mario multigame run a 3/7 because he doesn't like multiruns. So agwawaf goes and votes Sonic 2 a 3/7.

- Over 1minute20seconds faster than previous run - 35871 rerecords - Rated 3 on technical quality Enjoy being subjective. As for entertainment subjectivity, many people consider just a few aspects from this list (that I believe is as objective as possible, even though we have a different feel on entertainment): - How much is going on - How fast-paced the game is - How irksome, monotonous the gameplay is (kills long runs) - How cool the graphics/music is (the game's spirit, making it enjoyable) - How much work was put into creating entertainment (how much the author cared) - How much/deep glitches are used - WTF factor - How much players were used (how they interact) - How superhuman does it look overall Edit: Here's my technical factors list, just felt like sharing it: - How many rerecords were used - How long/in-depth the submission text is - Subpixels matter - Is the game overtased - How deep was the run planned (life, item, character management) - How much players were used (how they interact) - How good were the tools available/used (fceu .12 itself was hard to TAS on) - Was the code/RNG studied - How superhuman does it look overall
Warning: When making decisions, I try to collect as much data as possible before actually deciding. I try to abstract away and see the principles behind real world events and people's opinions. I try to generalize them and turn into something clear and reusable. I hate depending on unpredictable and having to make lottery guesses. Any problem can be solved by systems thinking and acting.

You and Sonikkustar definitely had intent to make my run under-rated. The reason why I felt that is that you and sonikkustar's rates changed lower rate than they rate first. However, other players's rate never change, higher or lower. Also, I saw you and sonikkustar's all rates. Both of theirs are just unequal and stupid. P.S, I saw guys who rated my runs's all rates. But I couldn't find unequal and stupid things. P.S2 I am not angry about rate I don't like. I got angry that you and Sonikkustar's rates changed lower and lower.

agwawaf, I believe you're taking the idea of rating very seriously—more seriously than it deserves and more seriously than it makes sense. Everybody has a different idea how and why to rate movies, how to appraise technical quality, and so on. For instance, I use it as a personal catalog of movies I have watched, to be able to tell at a brief glance which movies are my favorite, which ones I believe to be improvable, and which ones I find boring. And yes, I also change ratings over time (retroactively) to a lower value when an improvement comes around, if I believe it made the older movie look worse in some way—this is often the case with optimization-heavy games like Super Metroid. I don't think anybody has got a personal grudge against you so as to purposefully downvote your movies. Again, don't take this too seriously. And, what's most important, always be above petty vengeance.

True. I didn't say I have rated unequal. I rated seriously. I rated game I am not familiar with seriously and then my rates went that.

Your rates just happen to match perfectly what others rated you? Additionally, your first comment suggested that you had rated out of vengeance. I'd strongly suggest you consider removing those ratings, seeing as you admitted it was out of revenge; otherwise, they'll be removed for you.

In honest, NitroGenesis and Sonikkustar should be mentioned first. How did they need to change lower and lower? If both of them didn't have intent to change lower and lower, would they think that author felt something bad? Additionally, I think that rates frequently changed are out of spite. I hope you to remove all unequal rates to me or from me for me, please.

I think you are missing the point. It's a question of attitude. Anybody is entitled to an opinion, and hence anybody can rate movies however they like. However, for the sake of the site and the community, it would be preferable if people were honest when rating. In other words, they rated what they honestly believe the run deserves based on how they view the run itself, without letting ancillary details (such as who the author of the run is) color their opinion. Rating someone's run low because they rated your run low is not being honest. It's being childish.

Hmm? I never said that. Anyway, I'm sorry for my attitude. I'm not good at English, so I don't express my feelings well and I didn't intend to be bad attitude.

Are you really saying that it's just pure coincidence that you just happened to give the exact same low rating to someone's run, when they first had rated your run low? Twice?

True. If I rate with spite, I will never do a method came to light easily. If I do, I'll rate almost same, but not same. By the way, Mr. Warp. How about rating which graduately become lower and lower? I felt like shit and disgusting. Didn't they rate with spite? Did they harasse me? Even if not, at least I felt like shit and disgusting. I think that fair rate is first impression. Because a man lose interest in a thing a man do same many time.

The real solution here is for more people to rate more often. Questionable decisions by a single individual is much more meaningless in a large pool of votes.

I don't even know how to vote E/T on runs to begin with. >_>; If there's a way for people to do it, then it's not exactly apparent; maybe that's why it doesn't happen often.
First a movie gets submitted, and ends up accepted despite breaking rules other runs have been rejected for. And when I vote less than spectacularly on this movie, I become the victim of harassment and threats. Yay, favoritism.

I also think that ratings for obsolete movies should count towards the percentage of total movies rated. For those of you who get low ratings from me, just remember that I rarely, if ever, hold grudges. I love everyone on this forum, so I try to rate the movies objectively.

In the movie's page there's a "rate this movie" link where the rating appears. OTOH, this link only appears if you are logged in. Maybe this should be changed so that it's always visible, but if you click it while not logged in, it jumps to the login page (and from there, if the login is successful, to the rating page)? (If this is too laborious to implement, then perhaps the link could just jump to a page saying "you need to be logged in to rate movies.")

Just to be clear, you must log in on the main page, not the forum, to rate movies. They are two separate sections of the site, two separate cookies, etc. The "Rate this movie" link is at the bottom of the list of links like "FCEUX movie file (.fm2)" and "MKV file via BitTorrent".

Argh, I just checked and found that I'd received massively lower E ratings from some people with my newer Nuts & Milk movie. It's the same game and the same author, but not the same run! And I can't see how the new movie can be interior to the old movie. So I guess people can really lose interest in a thing. But vengeance? No way.
<klmz> it reminds me of that people used to keep quoting adelikat's IRC statements in the old good days <adelikat> no doubt <adelikat> klmz, they still do
