Post subject: How to begin using Snes9x 1.52 re-recording

Hey there! I just have a couple of questions regarding the creation of TAS videos on Snes9x-1.52-rr-r185. I'd like to start off by saying how I have some experience creating TAS videos with this emulator and that I've been able to post a few experimental videos on youtube. While I know how re-recording works (move save states), as well as converting the native movie into an AVI/MP4 file, there is one thing I'm not 100% on how to take advantage of; frame advance. I know that it's a form of slow motion that people use to make precise input, such as jumping over and over again in Super Mario Bros or spin-jumping repeatedly in Super Mario World. Now, I currently use a PS1 to USB controller since using a keyboard is awfully cumbersome for Snes games, but I have frame advance set to "\" but there's a problem. The problem is that it's impossible for one to hold the key down while using a PSX controller, unless I somehow had three hands to do it with. Not only that, but when I'm done using frame advance, I have to go into the Snes9x every time and click "pause" to unpause it. Is there any way to use frame advance so that the button is continually toggled (thus enabling me to have both hands free for the PSX controller)? And that when I finish, I don't have to go into the menu each time to unpause the emulator? Now, before someone suggests that I use Zsnes and/or a pre-1.52 version of Snes9x, I will state my reasons on why I prefer Snes9x. 1 - The Sony SPC700/Nintendo S-SMP audio core in Snes9x/Bsnes is vastly superior to the one used in Zsnes 1.51 (SMW is a great way to compare). 2 - Converting movies is infinitely easier since it has a built in converter. I really want to make some half-decent TAS videos from Snes9x. :P If I come across as being noobish, I apologize

I believe most TASers use keyboard for TASing systems like the SNES. You need access to all of your inputs as well as other special keys at once. Cumbersome really doesn't factor into it; after all, you're doing things one frame at a time, it's not going to be fun; all you need is accurate. PS1 controller has R2/L2 right? You could use a joy2key type thing to use one of them for frame advance...

I have joy2key, so I could give that a shot. What can I do once I finish using frame advance? Is there a way to toggle it off without going in to "File->Pause"?
